Verm glanced at the barn owl as she let out a warbling cry. He placed another worm on her wing and stepped back. The hawk owl knew that she would probably kill him once she'd regained her strength but he didn't seem to care about that right now. "Would you like something to eat?" he asked unsure of if she could speak or not.
He wasn't one to offer his home as a healing place to any owl but he wouldn't just sit there and watch an owl drown would he?

Jessa was hurt, half drowned and exhuasted. If this incompetant wanted to help her, it was his problem. She blinked at him tiredly, once. Then again, this time in a far slyier manner, as a brainwave sparked within her battered mind. So be it...

It would be even better to rip his head off when she recovered rather than trying now; better to see the shocked expression on the fool's face when he was thinking all was well, rather than now, when he was still wary of her. It wasn't like she stood a very big chance of decapitating this owl with a sprained(so she thought it was)wing.

So she just snapped, not meeting his eyes: "Anything, fool!"

OOC: Short, just cos'. xD

The hawk owl didn't seem taken aback by the harsh tone of her voice. In fact he seemed rather calm. "Alright," he replied turning towards the entrance. he moved quickly on to the edge and took flight into the ir. His eyes scanning the ground beneath for any sign of movement while he listened for any skittering or squeaks.
The darkness above gave him an advantage as he was used to the darkness rather than the light. In fact it was darkness that gave him a more safe, relaxed feeling although there was no such thing as safe.
A cool breeze blew around him slightly uplifting a few of his feathers. At that moment he caught sign of a small silhouette beneath move quickly from one bush to another. With a satisfied smile he circled over the area knowing it wasn't near the lakes or at lest from what he observed from looking down.
When at last Verm saw the little beast reveal itself once more, he quickly took its life with his talons, swiftly rising once more into the air. When he rose above the treetops so he could get a good distance, he saw the lakes and the amazing though that there may have been another world there on those four lakes. Quickly the owl flew back towards his hollow entering with little care of hiding his approach.

OOC: -gets off her rump and posts at long last- Apologies for being so very late. >.>

BIC:

Jessa was more than slightly surprised at the hawk owl's placid reaction. She immediately rustled further back into the hollow by reflex as the said avian abruptly took off into the twinkling skies. The Barn owl then crept back to the opening of the treehole, clacking her beak in a rapid "click-click-clack"-ing rythm(sp?); Jessa was famished. In fact, she couldn't quite recall just when it last was that she had eaten. Exactly what it was however, she could recall all too well...

Her last meal wasn't exactly a filling one either: a hare it was, its meat and tendons skeletal and tough.

Jessa's crop rumbled. To take her mind off her anguished complaining of her belly, she stuck in her head in her chest feathers and started to tug at several itching pinions with an unhealthy level of concentration.

Time went by.

It was then that the Barn Owl's keen eyes(once she got her skull out of her tangled plumes)spotted a lopsided shape whizzing back: it was that same hawk owl, this time with the limp form of prey swinging from his talons.

Jessa's stomach groaned.
