The 2nd First Blood Ceremony

"...Good Glaux..." Ferai was actually laughing, and loudly at that! Her beak wore a large grin. She shook with the gleeful laughter, her eyes squeezed shut. Some of the nearby Pure Ones stared at her.

"Erm..." She coughed, embarrassed, and straightened up, nodding down at Arriana. "Looks we'll have to take you al-" She stiffened as soon as the click of a familar someone's talons reached her ears. Ferai forced a smile, turning around to see Andy enter.

Riera was going to come along? Hmm. Perhaps you aren't so brainless after all., she thought, her dark eyes narrowing. This little trip to Silverveil could hardly be called a date now, but Ferai shrugged it off. It wouldn't be that bad... right? Hm... The commander sighed and blinked down at Riera. Okay, the cuteness was hard to resist. "...Fine, you may come along as well."

Alphonse blinked in surprise at the sound of laughter and turned to find that it was none other than Ferai that was laughing. Hearing her chuckle was on thing, but hearing her fully laugh was like hearing hengleens (angels) sing. Struck speechless, Alphonse could only grin sheepishly at her and shrug his shoulders in a small gesture of modesty. This was his wordless way of saying, "sorry about thing, but it was the only thing I could think of".

Suddenly the dreadest sounds of Andy's talonsteps reached his ear slits and Alphonse scowled before quickly forcing the cool expression back on his face before straightening up to face the Commander.

He bowed his head slightly as Commander Andy and her student approached. "Good evening Commander," Al greeted formally. He blinked at the icy smile that Andy flashed he and Ferai. That was unlike her.

The scowl nearly returned on face as he heard Andy's suggestion. Bring another owlet along? What did he look like? A kindergarden ryb? However, a small soft smile came across his face when Riera came up to ask them.

DARN IT! Why must owlets be so cute!?

"Okay course you may come along." Alphonse replied to the little owlet. Through clenched beak, he added, trying to make light of thing, "The more the merrier, right?"

Well, Riera was a nice, quiet little owlet. There was no way she could be much trouble on a small trip.

Riera gave a little squeak of joy, and hugged Alphonse. "I'm so exited!" She yelped, and gave a hop. Wow... how great was this going to be? "Can we catch voles? And Rats? And snakes? And..." Riera carried on, happyness rendering her incomprehensible.

"Oh, hey Tintagel! Are you going too?" She asked, and looked up at Ferai adoringly. "Can we go now?" She asked, making puppydog eyes. Andy gave the little owlet a strangely affectionate pat on the head.

"Have fun, little one," She said fondly, and hopped away so they wouldn't be able to see her devious little smirk.

Anabel and Carlisle merely looked on as the owls came flocking to go on the trip to Silverveil. Anabel truyl wished she could go, but she had a duty to her mentor, and did not wish to disobey the Pure Ones, again. She looked down at Carlisle, who was already growing quickly and gave an unusual smile as if to say, "We'll get our chance sometime, don't worry." She changed her glance to Candark as he seemed to explode over the situation.

Carlisle pulled back his head and wilfed a bit after all of the shrilling and screaming. Al made a good point. He looked innocently upon the goings-on...

Candark was about to scream at Alphonse again and maybe give him a smack. But then he thought of an idea. He smiled slyly, "Why, what a wonderful idea General! There just might be some Impure ones over there! I will bring along my students too." He turned to Henry, Anabel, and Carlisle. "Come, we are going to Silverveil! That way I can show you how to kill an owl with your talons."

Henry gave a little hoot of excitement. He'd never been outside the Canyonlands! And he'd see Impure ones! He wondered how ugly they would be. How easily would they be killed? And was it true that all Impure ones had rabbit's blood? "Aye-aye, Most Pure Teacher!" Henry said cheerfully and began to fly eagerly out of the Canyonlands. When he realized he had no frinking idea where Silverveil was, he flew back, embarassed.

Candark smiled at Alphonse, and he could hardly contain his smugness. There was no way that Alphonse could escape from him! If he suggested a more dangerous place to go, like the Beyond, Candark could always object because Tintagel and Arianna were among the younger owlets.

Arianna smiled up at Ferai and stroked her wings as Ferai had instructed her. She lefted off the ground a few inches, hovering. Then she plopped back down, an amazed expression spread across her flat, heart-shaped face. It really worked! she chirped with wonder. She stroked again and hovered a few more seconds. But her feathers were only a few days away from allowing her to take full flight. She hopped to a ledge and hopped back again. I'm doing it, I'm doing it! she cried. I'm gonna be the best Pure One ever! She smiled and hopped around with glee. She hopped into the air again and floated back down, and started to hop around in a happy dance.

Carlisle perked up in excitement. "Silverveil? Really Your Pureness? That's so exciting!"

Finally we get to fight some real owls! Anabel thought. This ought to be good...

Carlisle walked over to Candark and didn't have to look straight up anymore! He was growing! How truly amazing! He felt a new sense of authority, even though he didn't really have any. He felt more confident. Of course, he wasn't fully grown, so he was still considerably younger looking than others. He beamed at Candark.

Anabel, for about the first time since she'd been inducted into the Pure Ones, granted the others the chance to see her happy. She hadn't smiled since-well, she couldn't recall. Nothing had made her happy for a long time...
