Cordi kind of stood out.
Okay, massive understatement. Imagine a burnt forest after a forest fire, then imagine a tree left standing in the middle of the wreckage. A huge, purple tree. Well that didn't even compare to how much Cordi stood out in the turbulent sea of Hoolemere. Despite her impractical attire, which consisted of a little coat... don't ask- Cordi had pestered the nest maids until they had been able to show her how to knit... and boy, were the rest of the tree in trouble then. Cordi hadn't stopped making little clothes for the owlets, stylish little hats for the adults, and... worst of all...
Cordi had figured out how to dye the other owl's feathers. Many a young chick had woken up with a bright orange mohawk, and had run to their parents, screaming in horror, but Cordi was a princess. So she managed to get away with all her tom-foolery. Oh, but that wasn't even the worst of it. Cordi had managed to turn her feathers a very curious color. It couldn't be described as purple, no, it was more of a... shiny, metallic sort of color. As much as her parents hated to admit it, the color suited the young owl perfectly.
Anyway, despite her impractical attire, she managed to fly with surprising ease- Cordi had never been considered the most physical of owls, but after all, she was the daughter of Will and Luz, so SOME of their flying talent had to have rubbed off genetically. She could even be considered a skillful flyer if she just took some practice lessons, or even flew more often- but no. Cordi believed her calling was a life of fashion, dressing up the owls of the tree, and there was very little anyone could say to convince her otherwise.
So why was she flying then! The answer was who knows- perhaps the young owl had gotten bored, and had decided that she wanted a little change of scenery. Perhaps it was because she believed she had gained weight, and was looking a little chubby- therefore needed exercise to sort out her flab problems. Neither of these were true, Cordi was looking for food- for the first time, she had decided to go hunting for herself. At the tree, there was really no need to learn, most of the other owls caught the prey for her- she had simply never learned how to hunt, because there had been little time on the talons of the other owls.
This somehow bothered her.
Dont even ask why.
She was probably more bored than anything to be honest.
