Stars glistened brightly over four lakes that in return, glistened. Not a ripple stirred the lakes giving them a brilliant reflection of the world above. To many owls that world inside those lakes, was reality but some could see past the Mirror Lakes and knew they were merely lakes but with a deadly purpose.
Cool relaxing winds were above the lakes and the place that the Mirror Lakes were in, was in fact practically perfect. For Verm, life was never perfect.
The Northern Hawk Owl's eyes blinked once as he looked on past the lakes. Tonight was merely a night he couldn't sleep and he wasn't hungry. He didn't exactly have large eyes like every other owl might have but laerge enough to be considered an owl.
The winds stir so softly, perhaps a little flight manuvering would do me some good. If ever, than just than, I may be able to finally get out and explore once more, the owl thought. He launched himself off the branch and spread his wings to catch himself from falling.
Finally he was in the air and over the lakes, his black and white feathers making him stand out like the lakes themselves.

OOC: And Jessa finally gets to do something. -reuses huge chunks of an old post that was never replied to- xDD

BIC:

It was a supposedly quiet midnight that fell over the Mirror Lakes. The steady ethereal glow of the moon and stars cast across the flat surface of the lake, and the valleys beyond. The land was a lush and flourishing one; its condition signaling the prime of summer. In fact, for those fool individuals who chose to make the Mirror Lakes their house and home, it was always summer. And death of course. Yes, yes, there would be many rotten, bloated corpses to pick upon, so lovely and promising, so…void of life. Jessa could wait. She anticipated the droves of mosquitoes and maggots, attracted by the putrid, mind blowing stench of demise. Oh, how she longed for that. Meanwhile, there were only the gentle curvatures, the rising and sloping of the land for a crazed Barn Owl, kin of Tyto Alba, to be watched.

A lone heart sculpted face tilted towards the gleaming orb of the moon, which lent the otherwise dark regions of Mirrorlake light. In one silvery flash, the moonlight illuminated a crusty mask of blood that laced through Jessa’s once fine facial feathers. The once pearly sheen of her countenance was now a ghastly criss cross lattice of crimson patchwork, with a bloodied beak and pebbly beads for eyes that squinted out. Of the Barn Owl’s horrifying appearance, the onyx orbs were the most shocking; they lacked their warm glow, only to speak of gluttony and hunger for power. Jessa stared with that horribly transformed gaze into the mess of shining stars and midnight blue skies. Black talons that were speckled with blood clutched the tree branch of burnt sienna, as her broad frame swayed to the air’s dance of playful currents. Jessa’s plumage too, were ruined by a lack of careful ministration. Once neatly groomed barbs and plummels were knotted together, so that the femme would look like a hideous shaggy backed beast from a distance.

White chest? Gone. Light goldenrod speckled hued wings and back? Gone. It was not a matter of their existence, but more of their aspects rather: they were all thoroughly streaked with crimson stains. Jessa was perched upon an elm branch which was gnarled and rotting with age(and termites). The ghoul like owl calmly shifted from talon to talon, as if this was merely any normal day, as she recollected her past. Several seasons ago, the Pure Ones had mysteriously vanished. Or perhaps Jessa was just out of date. She had not left this haven, the Mirror Lakes for seasons now. So saying, Jessa eyed the lake that had given this seemingly serene place it’s name. The waters of the Mirror Lakes made not a sound. Not a ripple of disturbance was seen upon the polished and level surface.

Jessa shook her head slightly, tilting the blood congealed face at an angle. There was a hateful expression in those jet optics through which she surveyed her peaceful realm. The Tyto Alba would have been sneering, if owl beaks could be slid into an impossible crook. Where is the hate? Where is the chaos in this peaceful dwelling? The fae screamed silently. The voice that had plugged into her mind, who had acted as her guide, where was it now? Had it abandoned her at this point, when she had come to a crossroads in her life? Then it suddenly struck Jessa. She was no longer an immature fledgling, to be coddled and cooed over at every second.

Was that it? Had she grown up? Jessa’s head swirled and suddenly she just couldn’t take it anymore. The Barn Owl took off with a violent slash of her wings. Any furred or feathered individual directing their gaze upward would have been more than partially surprised as a fuzzball streaked with what looked like blood tore across the night sky.

Verm flew left and right, happy to fly and stretch his wings. Only once did he ever look at the other world, one that didn't exist. It never bothered him to look at the lakes below because they were but lakes to him, lakes that had such a reflection that only owls who had never seen such lakes, would become entranced by those reflections.

He curved left once more but stopped short, his heart thumping loudly as a mass of feathers and blood streaked out into the night sky. Fear began to swell within his heart. What did those feathers belong to and where did the blood come from? It was certaintly an owl but with such a death-like exterior, it was difficult to recognize its species except for the heartshaped face which gave away which family it belonged to.

Verm wasn't sure whether to go down or up, left or right at this moment but he knew one thing he must not do and that was go yeep, especially over the lakes. Surely the owl wouldn't see him if it hadn't seen him earlier but then, how long was it hiding? "Alright, alright, I should be fine, it hasn't seen me yet," he muttered beneath his breath, his voice quivering. He swooped lower, nearly touching the lake's surface. He was completely unable to veil himself at this point because his black and white feathers made him stand out like a fish leaping upon the surface of the lakes.

to be hurt, to feel lost

Sorry this is a short post. >.> Not feeling at my best today...

no, you don't know what it's like

As soon as Jessa's wings beat air, her twisted and rumpled plummels started whistling in the most aggravating manner. It was the kind of sound that caused owls to snap their beak in a tortured frenzy. The Barn Owl herself however, acted as though there wasn't anything to be heard to all: glazed over eyes fixed dimly upon the dark cobalt horizon, Jessa flapped towards the stars. On this dreamy night, even her thirst for blood and vengence seemed to have dimmed. As she wafted gently upon a light breeze, the sadistic Barn Owl allowed herself to recall with longing: victims of the kills she had made...how they had begged for mercy...groveling before her talons...some had put up a fight...she still had the scars, hidden beneath her rumpled plumage...

Even though her eyes were half-closed with acidic pleasure, Jessa was not the picture of lesurely repose: as her plumage was far from well-cared for, she had to flap twice as hard to compensate for her wrecked and worn feathers. As she floated back to earth, and towards the glassy surface of the lake, the blood streaked femme caught sight of what resembled a large bundle of black and white feathers zooming across the water... Jolted from her reverie, Jessa's eyes narrowed in shock and something like sheer terror. A booming screech heralded her arrival as she flapped crazily against the wind, straining to reach the other owl. How dare he intrude into my territory!? It's mine! Minemineminemineminemine-

welcome to my life

Ooc: Ts ok Firey

Bic: Verm watched the blood-streaked owl land by the lakes, this didn't at all surprise him but the booming screech did startle him to where he decided not to hover over the water anymore. Just as he started higher into the sky, the barn owl started towards him frantically but the closer she got, the he could make of her face.

He let out a gasp of terror because the owl was indeed covered in blood and those usually calm and friendly eyes seen in a barn owl, didn't belong to this one. Now Verm had heard little of barn owls with such a vicious, insane appearance except for those he had not seen and those barn owls were the Pure Ones. He wasn't sure if they were still alive or not or if this was just some crazed barn owl but what he was sure of, was that this owl must've meant harm.

OOC: I'M LATE TO REPLY. SO SORRY. >.>

BIC:

In an instant, Jessa skimmed down towards the intruder. This was just another nameless somebody who was unlucky enough to interfere. As far as Jessa was concerned, the Mirror Lakes were her territory. And the unfortunate Northern Hawk Owl wasn't even alive to her now. In Jessa's mind, in her heart, in her soul, he was nothing but a huddle of stilled arteries, stopped heart and spilled blood.

He was already dead.

The Barn Owl swept down in a rush of crimson blotted wings, a blurred torpedo of blood clotted feathers and cruel hate. There was no room, no pause, no hesitation in her movements. It was all plunge in, rip with talons, make the kill now. Nothing but slashing death. Jessa's wings were literally whistling aloud from the speed she demanded of them now, and her bones felt like they were about to snap. The blood was rushing in her skull and veins-

Getting closer-

She saw him gasp-

Just a little more-

She was about to stretch her wings out with an audible snap, to drag in air, to slow herself down just enough to rake her talons out-

OOC: Unless you want Verm to get injured or killed, you'd better get him to dodge. xDD

Ooc: XD Relax Firey, and yeah...XD.

Bic: Verm's instincts took over. Without warning, he plunged down towards the lake, picked up speed. His only thought was getting away from her. Just as he reached the lake's surface, he curved upwards now behind the insane barn owl. He twisted his head around, no anger, just fear in his eyes as he waited for her to attack once more. It couldn't go on all night though because either hers or his wings would tire.

Ooc: Short post bleh, sorry.

OCC: I'm sorry. Late again... ;___; School is killing me... X___x

BIC:

Jessa shot past as the Nothern Hawk Owl dodged her attack. She dragged the air frantically for pockets of air, but there was no lift under her wings at all. The Barn owl femme did not even have a chance to scream before she hit the Mirror Lake's surface and plunged into its depths. Immediately, she felt the blood numbing chill of the lake water douse her feathers...

She had to get out...

But Jessa's feathers were soaked so thoroughly that she could hardly move her wings at all... A feeble shiver ran through her body as her brain began to shut down under the intense cold of the lake...

OOC: She's not dead yet. It can go either way now. XD Die or be saved? Hmm. It depends on Verm though. -cough- Or I could just cheat and have Zach rescue her. -cough- xD;;;

Ooc: No prob, school here as well, ot this stupid state test coming up, the GEPA. Taking the chance to study now so I pass it.

Bic: Verm hovered there for a moment thinking, the barn owl would drown if he didn't get her out and if he did, would she attack him again? It wasn't right to leave an owl to drown like that. "Oh great Glaux," he sighed as he began downward once more but this time for the opposite reason. His talons outstretched as he reached the lake's surface, there was a great splash disturbing the reflection of the night as Verm latched on to the barn owl's wings. His feathers were either wet or dappled with droplets of water and he quickly rose back into the air. "You are, by far, the most odd looking owl I've seen yet," he huffed glancing down at the barn owl. he had to be careful as to not sink his talons into her wings although they must've hurt a great deal from broken plumes and so forth.

He quickly dispatched that though as he began towards his nest in an old oak tree just at the edge of the lake. His hollow though, was facing the laks and the sky and had little live food inside of it.

Jessa was not in a good mood when she awoke, sopping wet, her plummels hurting like crazy and dangling painfully in the clutches of a Northern Hawk owl. She was too weak to scream or even say anything now. All she could do was quiver like a stray leaf on a twig, odd rasping noises issuing from her choking throat. Stupid...frinking...idjit. She thought, even as she hung perilously from the stranger's talons. Then Jessa blinked, getting distracted. Oh, look. Was that the freak's hollow?

OOC: -crawls away, panting-

Ooc: XD Freak's hollow. 'Can you not see you have insulted the freak?' (Madagascar)

Bic:
Verm stopped just outside the hollow. The owl was a live, a good or bad sin, either way she was. Verm put her down just inside the hollow before landing at the edge to examine the mass of broken plummels and water. "You ok?" he asked flatly but his tone was neither caring nor furious although this owl had tried to kill him.

Ooc: Short post, sorry.

OOC: Sorreh... >.>

DHFUIDiodjsiofdf LONG TIME NO POST.

BIC:

As soon as the repulsive freak had laid her down in his disgustingly homely nest, Jessa futilely tried to flop away out of the hole. Of course, to do so right now when she barely had the strength to move, never mind fly, guaranteed a sure death. But the poor Barn Owl femme didn't care anymore; all she wanted to do was get away from this stupid owl and his stupid Glaux bedamned kindness.

She was sick of it, sick of it.

She was ashamed of how he seemed to look at her with those huge wide eyes of his: was that pity? Was he going to shove her out the minute she turned her back? Or was he-

sick of it, sick of it, sick of it, how i wish i'd never lived, never died to live, never lived to die

-and now he was asking her if she okay in that flat and nasal tone of his, boy she hated it the sound of his voice, anybody's voice would have been torture to hear after all those years alone by herself and everything she-

-hadn't the strength to do anything but, simple warble several nonsense notes from her beak-

OOC: Yey. Jessa's hysterical. -rolls eyes- Major drama factor. xDD

Ooc: XD relax Firey, I'm getting to that busy state too. Reports, big tests, a Washington trip.

Bic:

Verm cocked his head to one side. He had never taken care of an owl, never rescued one, how was he supposed to help this one...even if she did try and kill him. He glanced around his hollow but found nothing that might help. Alright, alright gotta think slowly, what do we use to try and calm any pain? ......I believe it was worms, he said to himself quietly. He flew out of the hollow an quickly returned with a few long night crawlers fresh from the ground.
As gently as he could, he plashed them in different places. This has to be right, he though. Please Glaux don't let her ill me if she lives, he thought, his heart skipping a beat at the thought of hearing his own hollow bones split because of her sharp talons.

OOC: -grins- Haven't been using a table for ages now. xDD

Yeh. >.> School's tiring like...

BIC:

Instead of crawling out of the hollow the moment the stupid freak had left and plunging to her death, Jessa stayed where she was. So...tired... Really. Her bones were sore, her muscles were aching, and to top it off she was all soaked and some random stranger thought that he could baby her. Whatever. His mistake. His fault... All his... Thinking these bad thoughts, her talons twitched weakly as the blood in her veins pulsed hotly with anger. Even her brain felt like it was inflammed.

Then a soft hopping and rustle of wings made Jessa's previously closed eyes snap open. All she could do was watch helplessly on and croak as he stepped closer... Oh, good. She knew he wasn't stupid enough to try to help her. He was going to kill her now, wasn't he? That was good. Allll well. Alllll- Worms!? Jessa wanted to scream at him the futility of his actions. She wanted to make him stop, make him hate her, make him die.

Here was one blockhead of an avian... Then Jessa flinched and let out a warbling cry as he laid a worm somewhere on her left wing. Her wing...was it hurt?
