I know guys, it's kinda sad you won't get the chance to boo him unmercifully, throw beer bottles at him, tell him he sucks, etc. So I offer you Jeff Faine as a peace offering...

Jaun Castillo could make him into a Pro Bowl player. Besides, in Philly we throw snowballs, its those Cleveland people who throw beer bottles if I remember correctly.

Bentley's already a Pro Bowler at C and OG, and was an All Pro at OG I believe. I So to say that he'll get turned into a Pro Bowler is kinda ehh.

I'm not condoning what the fans did that game, but that was one the worst cases of officiating in the history of the NFL. I understand.

Plain and simple, Bentley wanted to go a place where he would be appreciated. Cleveland is loyal to it's players. Well unless you're Tim Couch.

I was talking about Faine. Jaun Castillo could turn him into an animal. As for Philly fans being loyal to their players, they are, as long as the players are loyal to the fans and don't punk out.

Faine has Pro Bowl talent, no doubt. He's amazingly athletic, a good technician. He also can't stay healthy, and I worry about his intensity. I still think he has a chance, but I really doubt the Browns bench Coleman to put Bentley at RG just to give Faine another chance. We'll see though.

I heard they're trying to trade Faine. I'd offer a 6.

Coleman was signed by Savage & Crennel; Faine was inherited. I think there's a far greater chance of Faine hitting the pine or the fences then dear Cosey, who I sometimes miss in Tampa.

Cleveland is trying to trade Faine, yes. No official offers have come in yet, but allegedly 12 teams have inquired about him.

I'd take Faine on my team. I'd give up a 2nd day pick for him. Maybe a 4th.

LOVE the Howard signing. I'm going to enjoy watching a line of Kearse, Howard, Patterson, and Cole on 3rd and long...

Howard contract details...

per Reuben Frank
http://www.phillyburbs.com/pb-dyn/n...006-626257.html

excerpted:

The contract includes a $3.5 million signing bonus, roster bonuses of $600,000 this year, $1 million each in 2009 and 2010 and $4 million in 2011 and base salaries of $1 million this year, $2 million in 2007 and 2009, $2.5 million in 2008, $3.5 million in 2010 and $4 million in 2011.

Howard will have cap figures of $2.183 million this year, $2.583 million next year, and then $3.083 million in 2008, $3.583 million in 2009, $5.083 million in 2010 and $8.583 million in 2011.

In reality, this is either a four-year deal worth $12.6 million or a five-year deal worth $17.1 million. Either way, it averages out to less than $3.5 million per year.

The Eagles really do know how to swing a favorable deal.

Solid move on all fronts. Howard is a solid RE. I would be worried about his attitude a bit, but I think that will go away in Philly.

Not worried at all. Life in NOLA had to be hellish, both in the general area and in dealing with such a halfassed FO and staff. He's a great addition.

I'd be uber-excited if he were 2-3 years younger, though...

Eagles sign QB Garcia, WR Gaffney to one-year contracts
March 16, 2006

PHILADELPHIA (Ticker) - With Terrell Owens out of the picture for good, the Philadelphia Eagles signed quarterback Jeff Garcia and wide receiver Jabar Gaffney to one-year contracts on Thursday.

Financial terms were not disclosed.

Garcia, 36, will join his fourth team in as many seasons and serve as a backup to Donovan McNabb.

Gaffney, 25, will likely serve as the team's third receiver behind starters Todd Pinkston and Reggie Brown.

Garcia would not have come to Philadelphia if Owens was still around. As expected, the talented but troublesome wide receiver was released by the Eagles on Tuesday before a $5 million roster bonus was due.

Owens was banished by Eagles coach Andy Reid last season for conduct detrimental to the team. Among his transgressions was incessant criticism of Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb.

Garcia didn't escape the wrath of Owens when the two played for the San Francisco 49ers. Garcia was named to the Pro Bowl three times in his tenure with the Niners (1999-2003), but was often criticized by Owens for not having a strong arm.

Garcia played for the Detroit Lions last season and struggled after suffering a broken leg in the preseason. He started five of six games and completed 59 percent of his passes for 937 yards and three touchdowns with six interceptions for a career-low quarterback rating of 65.1

The previous year with the Cleveland Browns, Garcia played in 11 games and completed 144-of-252 passes for 1,731 yards and 10 touchdowns with nine interceptions for a rating of 76.7.

At his best directing the West Coast offense, Garcia passed for 84 touchdowns with just 32 interceptions from 2000-02 with the Niners.

"Garcia is a guy who's had a lot of success in the National Football League," Reid said. "He knows how to win football games and he's been to the Pro Bowl multiple times. He's a very smart player and is very familiar with our offensive system. He'll be a great backup to Donovan."

In 2000, Garcia set a club record with 4,278 passing yards. The following season, his first of three straight Pro Bowl campaigns, he threw for 3,538 yards and 32 touchdowns for the Niners.

Gaffney will try to offset the loss of Owens, who caught 47 passes for 763 yards and six touchdowns in seven games last season before being suspended.

A second-round pick in 2002, Gaffney spent his first four seasons with the Houston Texans and recorded 171 receptions for 2,009 yards and seven touchdowns.

"Jabar has good hands and is a precise route runner," Reid said. "He has the ability to line up in the slot. We're excited to add him to the mix at the wide receiver position."

A cousin of Eagles cornerback Lito Sheppard, Gaffney caught a carer-high 55 passes last season, but accounted for only 492 yards.

It has just been announced on the Eagles official site that the Eagles will be in the Hall of Fame game against the Raiders. Further details will be released in the coming days I presume. It just so happens that former Eagle great Reggie White will be getting inducted into the Hall of Fame that very weekend as well. Might have to make that road trip.

One of these days I'm going to visit the HOF. Sure, it's an hour or so away from where I live, but still.

Bringing another Gator on board. Now if he can be half the player he was in college we'll be good.

I know he's not a deep threat, but I'm PRAYING he convinces the Birds to drop Pinky.
