He never came out and said that he would go for a big name regarding the football job, but he did for the basketball job.

I like the hire. I think he gives some credibility to the Gopher program (which there wasn't any before the hire). A plus for Tubby is that the Gopher fans aren't near as tough as the Kentucky fans, who expect national championships every other year.

I never said that they would hire Dungy, I just thought there would be a slight chance that it could happen if he didn't make a run in the playoffs. I didn't think Tubby was possible either, but now that he is here, I am excited to see what he can do.

I am impressed with the job that AD Maturi has done. He had taken a lot of heat, but he has made two solid hires. Brewster is more of a high risk/high reward type of coach, while Tubby will make Minnesota a solid-to-good program.
