Well, as one of the biggest game franchises for Playstation, this game has to be here. The famous RPG that have led all others in popularity is now coming to PS3. This game is apparently very good in the trailer. There will actually be real-time fighting in the newest Final Fantasy game, and this time makers have said that they will try to recreate as much of Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children's combat system. Now that is something interesting to see, considering Final Fantasy is always about turn-based fighting. The most intriguing part will probably be the way that the game cooperates with comsumers and the PS3. As real-time fighting is introduced, Final Fantasy could go either way for bad or for good. We shall see!

First of all, Advent children was the movie, and had no combat engine whatsoever.

They want to create the actual combat moves and styles, so that all those supernatural things they do can be produce in real-time. The fights in Advent Children can be considered as a well done animation, and Final Fantasy XIII is trying to recreate that as much as possible. |

Hopefully the series will finally die out because of this. Because we all know how lucky the number 13 is...

Yeah, but come on... They've been making millions off of all these games that are essentially the same...

the thing is, besides the Final Fantasy franchise there are not many RPG series that can keep on going for long time and keep us entertained. See, good RPG can come out at any time but good RPG series are extremely hard to find. The only two I know of are Elder Scrolls and Final Fantasy.

Ok, if you do not like a certain type of game, you do not need to necessarily bash it.
Every game has its flaws, and by saying RPG is stupid you are basically saying the ones who play it are stupid. As for you saying it is stupid, I will let the public rebut that argument. Elder Scrolls: Oblivion Winner, Best RPG of E3 Winner, Best RPG of IGN 9.3/10 Winner, Best Story of IGN Winner, Best RPG of GameSpot 9.6/10 Winner, Game of the Year G-Phobia Winner, Game of the Year for PC and Xbox Golden Joysticks Awards Final Fantasy XII Winner, Best PS2 Game GameSpot 9/10 Winner, PS2 Game and RPG of the Year Gamespy Winner, PS2 Game and RPG of the Year IGN Winner, Game of the Year Edge Magazine Awards Kingdom Hearts 2 First week in Japan, sold 727, 591 First week in North America, sold 1 million copies Famitsu's Game of The Year 2005 8.7/10 from GameSpot 4.5/5 Official Playstation Magazine 9/10 Game Informer Jade Empire E3 2004 Game Critics Awards: Best Role Playing Game Electronic Gaming Monthly's June 2005 Game of the Month award. Included on Game Informer's "Top 50 Games of 2005" list. Gamespy's 2005 Xbox RPG of the Year, Top 10 Xbox Games of the Year. IGN's Xbox RPG of the year; XBox game of the year; Best Story on Xbox 2005; Best Artistic Design on Xbox. Academy of Interactive Arts and Sciences': RPG of the Year; Outstanding Character Performance: Female. MetaCritic's RPG of the Year, 2005. You can certainly criticize RPG games, but calling them stupid is plain arrogant. |

I was only replying to Alternate Killer's post, even if someone does not like RPGs, they do not have to bash it and say it is stupid. There are tons of RPGs such as Elder Scrolls, Jade Empire, and arsearsein's Creed, where anyone could have tons of fun. Saying RPGs do not allow the character to move around and it is boring is pure arrogance and stereotyping. |
