Metal Heaven 2009

Album number four from the Finnish power metal combo also sees them marking their tenth anniversary. Now I'm going to try and snake oil you by claiming that this is essential, because it's not. However, it is classic eighties metal done with style and panache. And what could be more enjoyable than that?

Vocalist Pete Ahonen has a lower register than a lot of power metal singers, something that definitely helps Burning Point stand apart from the herd. As does starting your album with a cover version of "The Godfather" theme music!

It's an excellent album, chock full of cracking riffs, in your face production, and some top quality tunes like 'Manic Merry-go-Round' and the frenzied 'Face The Truth'. It comes recommended, but you might want to pony up an extra few quid, and try to track down the limited edition. If you do, you'll get some bonus cover versions with special appearances from ex-members of Running Wild, The Rods and Q5.
