GROUND OF RUIN - Cloaked In Darkness EP



Hail and kill! Irish metallers Ground Of Ruin have been working away steadily over the last five years, building their profile the old-fashioned way, with EPs, festivals and support slots with the likes of Destruction and Onslaught.

And their hard work seems to be paying off if this four track EP is anything to go by. After the mellow instrumental intro 'Upon The 13th Hour', they launch headlong into the title track with powerful guitars and death style vocals. But it's 'Burning The Olive Branch' that takes the prize here, as they layer on their black and death metal sound over a mid-tempo bruiser.

The closing number, 'Beneath Contempt', almost matches it off the back of a particularly evil riff which many a major act would (hail and) kill for. A really excellent EP, and I urge you to nip off to their MySpace sharpish.
