Description: Lemmy says yes

I say string them up :twisted

What do you think?

I think there could be benefits to legalising heroin but only if it will lead to the rehabilitation of its users as opposed to being available ... heroin dealers are not the problem, its the drug that's the problem.

On the other side, I am all in favour of a complete legalisation of weed. The dealers in this case are more of a problem than the drug. Heck, if I could grow my own then I wouldn't hurt anybody, directly or indirectly!

As a reformed 'user' of many substances, legal and illegal, I have the passion of a zealot for opposing all forms of drug abuse.

There's nothing like a born again straight edger for mouthing off.

Personally, I'd ban all addictive drugs including alcohol and tobacco. I've seen too many lives ruined, especially through alcohol to tolerate it. :angry:

Tip no 1 on how to commit murder and get away with it;

Drink to excess, get in a car and run someone down. You'll gt a suspended sentence and points on your licence for a first offence. Absolute madness.

Of course, I'll delete this topic before I actually do it :)

Well, I can understand how you feel but I certainly don't think things like alcohol and tobacco should be banned ... not in the slightest. This would just be a huge infringement on human rights, our rights to do what we want to.

This is unfortunately a topic that can be discussed at great length, which will never be resolved because of so many differing opinions.

Weed ... complete legalisation would eliminate all of its problems over time. There is no question about this. The idea that the use of weed leads to harder substances is an incorrect assumption. The only way it can lead to anything harder is when a buyer goes to a dealer who then offers the harder substances. If somebody is going to use anything harder then they do not need weed to prompt them.

It's the same as blaming Heavy Metal on the shootings at schools. If somebody has it in them to do this atrocity, then they will do it regardless whether they listen to metal or not.

But what about my right not to die of cancer from 2nd hand smoke (never having smoked in my life) or my right not to get mown die by a drunk driver, or stabbed by a drink fuelled ned?

You can't use so called human rights as an excuse to harm others.

And the UN declaration of human rights doesn't actually give people the right to do what they want, a common misconception, but sets a common standard of achievement for all peoples and all nations.

Feel free to show me which article gives others the right to harm me :rolleyes:

Fortunately Article 19 means we can argue about it, although for how much longer is anyones guess, as the Labour Thought Police break it every day :ph43r:
