Title: Heretic - In Extremis

I first reviewed this 'in another place' back in June last year, when self confessed thrash band Heretic named their main influences as Slayer, Pantera, Napalm Death and Nile.

I said at the time that none of these come through on this five track demo which had a muddy production, which may contributed to the old fashioned New Wave of British Heavy Metal sound they were purveying. In fact, having listened to Kreator a lot recently, I would suggest that they are Heretics spiritual ancestors.

I stand by my opinion of the time which highlighted the first two songs, "Zero Tolerance" and "Killing Time", with the latter being particularly rifftastic. "Sins Of The Flesh" still reminds of Metal Church but I didn't think the other songs lived up to the potential shown.

They still need to find a decent engineer and studio, but there's no reason they shouldn't keep on trying.

:twisted :twisted and 1/2 out of 5

Heretic replied by email;

"I cant believe i wasted a fucking CD on you, you lazy slob. You have said absolutely nothing about the demo at all, its a repeat of what u sed about the last one. We have no money, and yet we spend money duplicating CDs and recording, to send them to you for fuck all. No wonder ur writing for nothing metal sites. I wudnt take unsigned bands for granted if i was you, coz one day its gonna come back and bite you in the ass. That demo got us on the cover CD of Zero Tolerance, and fuck loada gigs and sales to Korea, Germany and the US and yet you can't be bothered to say anything about it. We went to a Studio, dropped leaden material on your shitty advise...and what for?? For fuck sake, I hope people arnt paying you.......ur robbing them blind.

from a disgusted Lyall Thomas"

Metal4Life would like to point out that it was the same demo as received a few months ago
