Title: Sewing Projects
Description: What are you making?
PuppetCircus - April 9, 2008 04:12 AM (GMT)
Since it sounds like a few of you sew, I thought it would be cool to have a thread to discuss our projects (cosplay or otherwise).
So, I'll begin. (Ack, I hope there isn't a thread like this already! I checked, but...)
I want to make myself a replica of one of these two Boz skirts. I can't decide which...Any opinions?
This one?Or this one?

Esuna - April 9, 2008 04:35 AM (GMT)
Hmmmm, they both look really good. What a hard decision; I like both. But I really like the way the back of the second one looks, I think I would opt for the second... for some reason the first one made me think of an anime character dressed in a maid outfit.
xit - April 9, 2008 04:55 AM (GMT)
The second one.
I just think it looks the best.
sweet_decadence - April 9, 2008 02:57 PM (GMT)
The second one. I  Boz
Damn I hope I get my collage placement, It's a course in fashion technology aka sewing.

Thanks for the feedback everyone! Unfortunately, that one looks harder to make  , but it'll be a learning experience.

I think their both gorgeous but I like the second one more! Good luck!
PuppetCircus - May 28, 2008 08:08 PM (GMT)
Yesterday I made a skirt:

I had a lot of fabric left over, so I made a matching headbow too:

The fabric is REALLY busy, but I like it. I don't usually like elastic waistbands, but I didn't feel like putting in a zipper, so...
Total cost: About $10 for fabric and trim.
Meilin - May 28, 2008 10:06 PM (GMT)
only 10$?!!!!!!!!! its REALLY cuteeeee
i love the fabric!!!!!! :heartbeat: :heartbeat: and i want to see your photo wearing it!

*o*
the cape is really beautiful!
Pythos - February 11, 2010 06:19 AM (GMT)
That EGA skirt is nice. But, and correct me if I am wrong, EGA was more "masculine" I thought. Not that that skirt and outfit is not one I would love to wear, but....well for once I am baffled. That dress looks like a Spanish Flaminco dancer's dress. I don't believe I have seen this at motie, or on Mana himself.
It is really cool looking though.
Ludivine - February 11, 2010 08:04 AM (GMT)
EGA even though it has unisex clothes isn't necessarily more masculine. Yes it's more mature than EGL but some items do look feminine and have frills (like the dress Izumi got from Harajuku in Paris <3).
Lapis, I wish I could sew like that.
Lapis - February 11, 2010 08:49 AM (GMT)
Yes, EGA is not necessarily masculine. EGL is girls only and intends to display some sweetness in the clothes, because playful patterns, frill, ribbons and so on. EGA is rather a "grown up"-style. Think of the many long skirts you can buy at moitié for either men or women ^^
Thanks you <3
Astral Romance - February 11, 2010 10:11 PM (GMT)
Since i can't affort EGA clothes, i'd like to ask... does anybody know good patterns to sew EGA clothes? Cause i guess i have nothing to do but to sew them by myself >.<

I luvs that dress
Lapis - February 12, 2010 01:25 AM (GMT)
EGA sewing patterns are rare, even in Gothic Lolita Bible or other magazines. Since I make 90% of my sewing patterns by myself, I think I'm of not much use, but maybe it helps you anyway:
A good way to go is taking basic sewpatterns (f.e. long wide trousers, a blouse, a long skirt) that come close to what you imagine. Choose the fabrics and colours you like for your EGA-sewing project. You can always make some changes. Add a ribbon here, a little bit of frill over there - there are no limits.
This here is a sewing pattern for some magician/variété costume, not very EGA on the picture if ask me, but...:
http://www.burdastyle.de/schnittmuster/fas...id_27_1889.html...you can turn it into something EGA-like, here you go:
http://animexx.onlinewelten.com/fotos/foto...8150&id=2007786Gosh, that pic is old X___X My hair is a whole mess ... these were my very sewing beginnigs and you can see that ... maybe that's because I used a sew pattern from a shop XD
Anyway, that's a way to go for sew patterns ^^
Astral Romance - February 13, 2010 12:28 AM (GMT)
Thanks^^. Maybe my mum will have some ideas XD. Sometimes she sews clothes, but she doesn't know how to make clothes i want. eh...
Lapis - February 13, 2010 02:24 AM (GMT)
I'm sure you'll manage ^^v
zapchu - June 1, 2010 08:53 AM (GMT)
wow...you are not only beautiful but talented as well. I am amazed ^_^
Lapis - June 1, 2010 01:23 PM (GMT)
Thank you so much ^///^
I'm happy you like them!
porcelainmaiden - June 1, 2010 09:13 PM (GMT)
Wow, Lapis, you should maybe consider designing and selling clothes! These are very nice designs you have made!
Lapis - June 2, 2010 12:14 PM (GMT)
Thank you, too ;_; <3
I like designing lolita clothes and costumes and I have also thought of something like designing, but then I'm still feeling like a newbie, because I have not had even a single course in sewing and I'm still a little shy about it ...
I don't know, but could I post two costumes here as well? O.o Or is it just for Lolita Fashion?
Because I've also designed and sewn two costumes (let's saymore or less) for Mana:
Cosmic Dancer (Mana x Visual Kei) and Dark Sea Sorcerer (Mana x Disney's 'The little Mermaid')
I'd interested in what you'd say about them ... ^^"
porcelainmaiden - June 2, 2010 04:05 PM (GMT)
I think you should post the pics!
I think you concepts for Mana costumes sound very cool! :D
Lapis - June 2, 2010 05:31 PM (GMT)
Ok, then here we go:
Twilight Sex ~ Cosmic Dancer - Mana x Visual Kei

Sorry for the bad quality ... anyway, this is my first costume. There is a partner costume called "Twilight Sex ~ Visual Candy" by SakuKogure. The concept was made by the both of us, which should represent Visual and Oshare Kei Style. We also chose on a representative of both styles, me going naturally for Mana and Saku for Ancafe's Miku. The costumes share some characteristics such as the black fabric, tull, feathers and a similar construction, what was necessary to imply that the costumes belong together.
I especially love the blue corset (yes, selfmade XD) and the headdress.
For another picture of us both, here you go:
Twilight SexDark Sea Sorcerer - Mana X Disney's "The little Mermaid"
First thing, this was an increadibly hard task! But I'm quite happy with the outcome:

First thing you hopefully notice that it has not been Ariel whom I tried to combine Mana with, but Ursula, the sea witch. Her song "Poor unfortunate souls" became the leading topic of the costume. I integrated the shell necklace (blue thingy on my chest) in which Ariel's voice gets sealed, adapted Ursula's makeup-colours to Mana's (sorry, that's not visible, too) and made another reference through the name. The dress is made of satin and organza, creating the image of watery flowness, combined with the dark elgance of the dress' apprearance.
Mana's the mainpart of the costume, Ursula the sidepart.
For other photos you can take a look at these:
Dark Sea Sorcerer 1Dark Sea Sorcerer 2Now I'm excited to hear what you think about them :)
Note: ALL photos belong rightfully to the ones who took them! Don't post them elsewhere!
Pythos - June 2, 2010 10:46 PM (GMT)
Wow Lapis, those are eye catching.
Good job!!!
porcelainmaiden - June 3, 2010 06:38 AM (GMT)
Wow! Those are too cool! I love that organza fabric in the last one, it looks like water!
These costumes are great! :D You and your friend look very good together in that photo, you can really tell who is representing Mana and Miku.
xit - June 3, 2010 07:09 AM (GMT)
Damn! They look really good. 8D234
Especially love the last outfit, it just looks so classy. ^^
