A collector has kindly posted examples from the highly elusive Moitie Tarot
he has this to say:22nd January 2007 Moi-même-Moitié is a well known Japanese Goth fashion label founded in 1999 and features the specific clothing styles which the founder Mana calls Elegant Gothic Lolita and Elegant Gothic Aristocrat. So what has this to do with tarot? Well, recently this company has issued a tarot deck promoting their clothes and general style. This seems to have been given away at some promotional event. I managed to acquire a copy. It is certainly a Goth deck of 78 cards (featuring photographs of the same female model posing in a wide variety of goth clothes), however, its qualification as a tarot is a bit tenuous. Each card is titled as a tarot card, and although in a number of the majors one can perceive some connection between the photograph and the tarot symbolism, for the minor and court cards I can find no obvious connection. But the deck certainly has style and is well worth collecting. 'Moi-même-Moitié' is an invented pseudo-French expression which could mean something like "Half of myself", "My other side" with the idea perhaps of dressing up and taking on another persona (here a goth one) in the tradition of Japanese cosplay (or dressing up play). The photographs are delightfully stylish and slightly diffused, and often heighten the contrast between the white made up face of the model and the dark clothing. Perhaps this is presenting Goth as 21st century Geisha.<
I wonder if he'd sell it? ;-)
especially considering he thinks Mana is a "female model" LOL
Wow, if I ever find any of them, I'm getting them whatever the price!! It's a pretty good promo idea, actually.
Mana seems to quite like tarot cards. There's quite a few in the album artwork from Nocturnal Opera, including a 'Mana' card. Which is pretty epic.
Mana.. in.. tarot cards? Ok now I'm confused
That now reminds me of that one jacket Tally Weijl sold in Germany having one GLB-Pic on Mana printed on it (along with one of Bou from Ancafé; they did not seem to have been able to tell the difference between them and the other nameless girls on the jacket) or that russian book with Livre Rosé-picture on the front.
I also had to think of the fairytale-issue of GLB, in which Mana portayed 4 fairytales rather unelegantly (sorry to say, but portaying Sleeping Beauty on her rosebed AWAKE in a pose as if she would already wait to seduce her prince is not part of the fairytale XDDD The photo is beautiful, Mana is beautiful, but it is not the Sleeping Beauty of the fariytale XD")
Else: Pretty cards, would want to have them :D
