X-GENE MUTATIONMutant Powers: Storm's mutation means that she has a strong psychic link to the elements. She has an awareness of nature and a connection to the world around her but her power lie in weather manipulation.
As such, she can summon lightning from the skies or fire it in blasts from her hands, change temperature of the environment around her, summon storms, and winds of any kind that can extend to hurricane force. She can create precipitation of any kind, as long as it is not completely unnatural. She can also use her powers to disrupt electromagnetic fields and delicate electronic equipment, or create a pressure field around herself to deflect incoming attacks and maneuver herself through the air.
When she uses her powers, her eyes turn a glowing white, with the pupils and iris disappearing completely. During this time she can alter her visual perceptions to see world as energy patterns. She has a certain amount of resilience to most types of weather, her body being able to compensate for the lowering or heightening of temperature.
Control: Excellent, though she is always learning, her control over her power is generally near perfect except when her emotions get the better of her.
Weaknesses: Storm's psionic powers over the weather are affected by her emotions; hence, if she does not maintain control of her emotions, a fit of rage might induce a destructive storm. Also, Storm suffers from severe claustrophobia that she is absolutely unable to conquer. A major limiting factor is also the strength and willpower of her body and mind, but as Storm is a very strong person, this is not often an issue.
PSYCHOLOGICAL PROFILEPersonality: Storm is driven by a need for balance. She has a deep desire to protect and care for all of earth's creatures, including people. She is very cerebral, and would prefer to think or talk her way to a resolution than come into conflict. Storm can be both an idealist and a realist.
Storm is very compassionate, yet eminently logical by her own definitions of what makes sense. She is very self aware, and a great lover of art, music, poetry, and beauty in general. A natural-born leader, she can be very blunt when needed but is still sensitive to the people around her and is always willing to lend a helping hand.
She deals with problems quickly, efficiently, and logically. Sometimes it seems she gets things done just by sheer force of will alone. She is one of the few people that can get Logan to back down simply because she won’t do the same.
At the core of her personality, Storm is actually an intensely emotional woman, though in learning to control her powers she also had to learn to repress and control her emotions. Still, there are times when these get the better of her and she may spark a storm without even realizing it.
Notes: Storm, as the last in a line of African princesses feels pressure to keep her lineage alive. She has reached the point where being a solitary woman is making her feel guilty at times. She is constantly on the lookout for the remains of her female ancestors, she wants to sequence any surviving DNA and determine when the mutation for white hair and blue eyes first came about.
Demeanor: Caregiver
Nature: Serene
Current Affiliation: X-Men, Faculty
Previous Affiliation: Street Kid/Thief
HISTORYStorm is the descendant of an ancient line of African priestesses, all of whom have white hair, blue eyes. Her mother, N'Dare, was the princess of a tribe in Kenya. She married the American photojournalist David Monroe and moved with him to Manhattan, where Ororo was born in 1976. Although N'Dare had been accustomed to being treated like a princess and was a nobody, a rather poor nobody at that, in Manhattan she was never dismayed. She loved David Monroe with all her heart, and he returned that love.
Ororo does not remember much of her childhood, her parents went all across the world as David Monroe chased the world events and captured the pictures of events all across Africa and the Middle East. However in 1982 he was sent to Lebanon to get pictures of the Israeli invasion. Somehow during the fighting her family was trapped in a small building by Israeli forces. Ororo cannot be quite sure what happened next, but for some reason the building collapsed and both of her parents were killed. She was trapped with their bodies for quite some time. She has been terrified of close spaces ever since, and sees her parents corpses whenever she is a tight space.
Homeless and orphaned, Ororo, came under the tutelage of master thief Achmed el-Gibar. She became his prize pupil in thievery and in picking locks. Life became a game to her, and because she stole so much she never wanted for anything. She never gave a thought to those she stole from.
Years later, feeling a strong urge to go south, Ororo journeyed alone across the Sahara Desert and finally reached her ancestors' homeland, the Serengeti Plain, which lies in the modern nations of Kenya and Tanzania. By this time her mutant power to control the weather had emerged, and she used them to help the local tribes, who worshipped her as a goddess. Ororo embraced this identity; it helped her separate herself from the people of the world, whose cruelty had bought tears to her eyes many, many times in her young life.
Ororo remained with the tribes for years until Professor Charles Xavier recruited her into the new team of X-Men he was assembling. He was very blunt with her when he declared that she was no goddess. She knew he was right. She was given the code name "Storm" after her power to affect the weather.
Since joining the school Storm has found academic life very interesting. She earned a PhD in African History and teaches all History subjects at Xavier’s Academy.
Currently Ororo is using the knowledge of history to attempt to give the students at the academy the same type of enlightenment she has received in her life. She is very loyal to her students and will do all she can for them. She is also completely loyal to Xavier.
On February 18th, 2004, Storm was on a trip to the movies with the one woman she saw like a sister, Jean, and Jean’s husband, Scott, when she witnessed the sudden appearance of an unknown mutant before Scott’s car; shortly after the movie had ended. Two members of Magneto’s Brotherhood, Sabretooth and Toad, attacked the young woman. Storm was quick to ask her fellow X-Men if they should lend a hand but agreed when Scott told her the young mutant seemed to have it under control, even as Toad was sent flying by the purple electricity in the unknown’s hands.
Ororo almost instantly felt drawn to this young woman, as she seemed to possess a very similar power to her own.
[Please see Professor Xavier’s bio for what happened next.]Aside from the usual things involved with being a teacher and X-Man at the school, Storm has been dealing with her recent break up with Wolverine, and the loss of a good team mate, Angel. She loves Mana with all her heart, but the love Logan has for her just gets in the way of everything. Always the quiet and serene one, Storm has chosen to move on the best she can, dealing with recent missions and the latest infiltration of the base, which saw the mutant know as Nemesis, genetically altered by Colonel William Stryker to not only counteract, but also absorb and retain all of Blade Girl’s powers, then being held in the mansion prison cells, suddenly take a leap forward in the evolution of his powers (thanks, in part, to the fact he now had Mana’s powers within him) turning his entire body into electricity enabling him to disappear into the mansion electrical system and on to the mansion’s main core.
During the time they were trapped in the mansion, thanks to Nemesis locking it down, Storm, along with Jean, found herself in the Danger Room, now under this infiltrator’s full control. They both fought for their lives until Nemesis turned his attention elsewhere. It was only when this mutant’s true target, Mana, finally returned the next day (the infiltration having gone long into the night and next morning), that this problem was resolved.
Soon after this Storm was there when Wolverine told Mana that he believed strongly it would never work between them, this happening during a conversation between Logan and Ororo that Mana ended up turning up halfway or so through. In that same moment, Logan and the Weather Witches’ relationship started once again... whether it lasts, or his feelings for Mana end up getting in the way again... only time will tell.
On Wednesday March 2nd, a couple months after the Nemesis infiltration, the entire school was privately invited along to the opening of a new museum on the outskirts of the northern side of New York. Soon, it was clear others had been invited, and the true purpose of this school was shown, the Brotherhood and the X-Men, faculty and students, among others, working side by side, in the different exhibits they were confined to, fighting for their lives against a museum that’d just locked down and come alive. Storm found herself locked in the Atrium, a metal covering having closed over the open roof, with Scott, Wolverine, Phoenix, & Psylocke. Seeing Wolverine and Jean taken by pincers that came out of nowhere, not to mention the stabbing through of the man she loves over and over just moments before, and being unable to do nothing about it, still haunts the Weather Witch to this day… but she too was soon taken, leaving only Psylocke and an unconscious Cyclops left behind in the Atrium.
Along with her team-mates, and the others ’chosen’ by the person, or
persons, behind the exhibit, Ororo was dumped in an energy shielded cage, where she could not use her powers due to power dampeners also being present. Of course, with claustrophobia being an extreme part of the serene mutant’s persona, her immediate reaction to this was to panic… until Jean stepped in and telepathically calmed her friend.
Somehow soon, the ship was brought down, and like every resident of Xavier’s, who had been either captured, or on their way to rescue those taken, she learned this, as well as the freeing of those aboard were in part due to the sabotage of one Psyche, whom Storm will be forever grateful to. And it’s thanks to Polaris that one of her closest friends, Jean, was freed from what was some obvious form of mind control when the redhead suddenly turned against the very people she’d sworn to protect.
It has been pretty quiet since then, but Ororo, among many others, still believes they have not heard the last of the two names Psyche was able to give them… Christian and Magenta LeMasia. If and when they rear their heads again, Storm is determined to stop them once and for all… until that day comes, however, she is content with the usual happenings, albeit sometimes heightened moments, at the mansion, and the continued growth of her relationship with the Wolverine.
However, things weren't meant to be quiet when Xavier's was under attack by robots. Ororo was among one of many different factions that was captured. At the hidden location that the captured mutants were held, things didn’t' start out well when Ororo had a reaction from the sleep inducing drug that didn't mix well with the medication she was taking. Luckily, she was treated by Jennifer LeMasia, who proved to be a worthy ally in the fight that ensued after Dark Voltage turned the power dampeners off, allowing everyone to escape. But not without one final fight against the sentinels and a possible, devastating explosion that was taken care of.
As of late Ororo has been watching over and has found herself linked to a young telekinetic by the name of Rosie that is at the mansion. She is hoping to adopt the girl, and help her overcome her traumatic past. For now, this is keeping her pretty busy, and she is loving every minute of it.
SAMPLE ROLE PLAYThere was something calming about drinking hot tea when it was cold. Besides the warming affect, it also gave a sense of peace. And that was how Ororo found herself in the afternoon on a snowy day. Looking out towards one of the windows, a snow ball had planted itself on the window before hearing the snow crunch under scurrying feet. "Oh my. I do hope their not getting too violent out there." She was contemplating on whether to go outside later or not.
But for now, she just wanted to kick back for a while and enjoy the scene in front of her. Sitting back in her chair, she sipped her tea while watching the children outside, taking in the scene and the beauty of a dazzling snow and sky. While the season was considered 'The Dead Season', Ororo didn't see winter as such. She saw it as giving the Earth time to regenerate, to hibernate before it was time for the flowers to bloom, the trees to sprout lush green leaves, and for other living things to start moving again. Plus, it would give the kids something to occupy themselves when it began to get warm again.
"Ouch!"
Uh-oh. Seems like someone threw a snowball a bit too hard. That was enough to get Ororo out of her thoughts as she stood up and made a beeline for the door. While she was certain there were no injuries, better safe then sorry. Kids would be kids. But she would always be one of the mother hen's.
