PERSONAL INFORMATIONCharacter Name: Remy Etienne LeBeau
Nickname/s: Gumbo, Cajun, Swamp Rat, Le Diable Blanc
Current Codename: Gambit
Previous Codename: N/A
Age: 27
Height: 6’1”
Build: If anything could be said about the way LeBeau holds himself, it would be with pride in who he is, confidence in what he can do, and assurance that how he looks brings many a femme to her knees, and many a homme glowering with jealousy. The most striking part of this particular mutant’s appearance are his eyes, red-on-black, sometimes described as almost demonic looking, yet far from it. Often the energy he is capable of wielding can be seen reflected in them along with the emotions he is feeling at the time… a gentle glow for when he is happy, a slight flash when he is being cheeky to match the classic Cajun smirk, and a much more noticeable flash when he is angry.
Shoulder length auburn hair helps to accentuate a face etched with years of hardship, driven to the brink of his abilities and back again, a mind that has seen some of the worst atrocities in the world and can only hope to be there to stop them in the future. Remy hides these experiences well behind a cheeky grin that is often transformed into a smirk, and the unique color of his eyes, making it harder for another to read what he is feeling within them..
From extensive training, the determination to strive to be all he can be, Remy’s body is toned where it ought to be, muscles where they are needed, making the saying, “I be makin dis look good”, thoroughly appropriate to him, his
uniform of choice a classic example of this. A dark blue Kevlar shirt, over black pants made of the same material, tucked into knee-high silver metal encased boots, all of which only help to accentuate one of the many trench coats in his possession, most often the brown one seen when he is in combat mode.
It has often been said Remy is the epitome of what a man should look like, act like, and be like. Ask him if that is true, and he’ll answer with a simple, yet affirmative, “Oui.”

Curriculum: N/A
Non-Curriculum: Unknown to but the fewest of people, although Remy never undertook any official education he was instructed in a high level of education that related to technology and the understanding of how the world works. Gambit is also a master thief, lock picking, stealth, security bypassing, wall scaling and all other aspects of this 'art' form something second hand to him.
Highly skilled at slight of hand and other card tricks, hence able to wield his power most effectively by using them as the very projectiles he charges, he has also mastered the use of a Bo Staff, incorporating into this his training in the French Kickboxing style of martial arts known as savate, making him an excellent hand to hand combatant.
Resources: Money stored from previous robberies, teacher's salary, well looked after by the Xavier Institute.
Education: Legally/Officially none, full details unknown.
X-GENE MUTATIONKinetic Charge: By touching it, all Gambit was capable of at first achieving was the ability to kinetically charge any inanimate object causing it to release its explosive kinetic potential, resulting in the object exploding as it releases the stored energy. His power presents itself as a reddish-purple glow around or within the object/s he is charging, his eyes also glowing this same color when using his abilities. Because of his extensive skills in slight of hand and other such card tricks, it makes complete sense then that his most favorite of projectiles, and one of the easiest to not only charge, but wield, are his trademark pack of cards, which can oh so very easily be kept concealed within the sleeves of his infamous trench coat.
He is also able to successfully charge his most favorite of weapons, the custom made Bo Staffs he always has at least one of on his possession at all times. Remy can charge up to and including five to six cards at once, releasing them one after the other, or all at once. The extent to which he can release the energy from his Bo Staff depends on what he is bringing it down upon at the time, however, the release usually occurs from the very tip, where the kinetic energy condenses.
Over time, self taught and the training he has received since arriving at the Xavier Institute, Remy has since demonstrated the ability to charge an object from a distance, as long as said object is within his line of sight, as well as delay the explosive reaction of his charges as long as he is in the local vicinity of that which he is charging and his concentration is not broken.
Gambit is also capable of using the kinetic energy to charge his own body, giving him above-average strength, stamina and agility.
Control: Explained below.
Weaknesses: If Gambit does not concentrate on holding his charge, if his concentration is somehow broken, Remy’s powers can and will hurt him as well. He has been known to fly backwards form the sheer impact of his explosions, and when using the tip of his Bo Staff, the Cajun must jump at the same time he, for example, slams it onto the ground to avoid being one of the things the resultant explosion sends flying. Several times, when first learning the time limit to how long he could hold a charge, he has burned his hands and gone through several pairs of leather gloves.
There is also a time limit to which he can hold a charge, no longer than five minutes, for the concentration it takes to hold it for even a couple takes so much out of him he is left pretty exhausted. The same goes along for charging objects within his line of sight, he has yet to be able to do so to more than one larger object at a time, therefore, he prefers to look for smaller things, such as the pebbles, rocks, even the dirt beneath someone’s feet, in a concentrated enough amount of course, since such small particles aren’t very dangerous on their own.
The larger the object the longer it takes to charge, hence why Remy prefers to use either his cards, or something small and easier to throw, so as to not leave him vulnerable in those few moments he is trying to concentrate.
Telepathic Resistance: Gambit’s powers allow him the ability to create a form of static interference that keeps his mind protected from the likes of telepathic mutants. This side of his mutation seems to be automatic, and has been a great protection many times in the past.
Control: Automatic // sometimes non existent, explained below.
Weakenesses: The more powerful the telepaths, Empaths, and other mind altering mutants, such as Professor Charles Xavier, Emma Frost, Blade Girl, or Mastermind, the less likely he can keep them out of his head. They can and will eventually break through his natural defenses, something of which Remy cannot stand, not so much because they will see the truth, since most of his friends already know, but to lose all sense of self control, to have someone else controlling him, not something anyone wants to happen, least of Remy Etienne LeBeau.
Empathic Charm: Gambit also has an uncanny effect on people (especially women) regarding his skill in convincing people to abide by his wishes. Due to him being renowned for his charm and way with words in certain places the more skeptical of people have been lead to the belief that Gambit possesses a low-level empathic 'charm' that makes people more attracted to him and more likely to trust him, however this also can not be proven.
Control: Thankfully, when Remy becomes aware this power is working on someone, he can stop it, since he has come to the realization he wants others to like him because of who he is, not because his powers are making them. Often, however, it is not until later that he realizes what has just happened, deeply distraught that yet again someone actually caring about his existence was only because of a power he is not always conscious he is utilizing.
Weakenesses: The pull of his hypnotic voice and subsequent psionic ability will only work to the fullest degree on the minds of those who are extremely weak or do not have a natural ability to shield themselves, or become aware of the fact the way they are acting is not normal, therefore, snap out of it as it were.
Other Weaknesses: Aside from carrying the X-Gene LeBeau is human in every other way, therefore he is susceptible to getting sick, to disease, to toxins and poisons. To bullets, knives, any weapon that may be used against him, to pain and injuries and, the enhancements his power does give him will eventually wear him out to the point of sheer exhaustion.
PSYCHOLOGICAL PROFILEPersonality: Gambit comes from a long line of Thieves Guild members, highly family orientated, as close as they could be, betrayal never an option. His code was once the same, never let anyone, other than his immediate adoptive family, get close, never let them see who he truly was, least of all anyone from the Assassins Guild, which is where his competitive streak comes from, and, this is also why it is hard for him to put past aspects of his personality aside sometimes. He finds himself deeply hurt and enraged when betrayal does occur, feeling the need to avenge any of those closest to him if they have been harmed in any way, having no qualms in teaching others a lesson. Remy has always been a loner, giving off the feeling that he would prefer if others kept a wide birth of his immediate vicinity, yet, deep down, he yearns for friendships that cannot be broken, and a relationship with a femme that lasts far longer than just a one night stand.
Along with these are his charming qualities, his smoothness around the ladies, his often over the top cockiness, and that little thing called Cajun Charm. He is who he is, he can’t help it if others don’t like that, yet, at the same time, he tries his best to get along with everyone, even though opening himself up to possible future hurt has never been an easy thing for him to do. However, if you become his friend, someone he cares about, he will be there for you until the day he dies;; in fact, he’d lay down his own life to save another’s.
Gambit is now, and forever always will be, one of the X-Men, noble, lacking no hesitation in doing what he can when he can, eager to go on missions, eager to be a part of something he knows is far more important than anything he could have ever imagined. Only a few have seen it, only one person has ever been past the natural defenses around his mind to see all of the Cajun, right down into the core of his soul, however, on his own, sometimes, just sometimes the sadness will overwhelm him, the façade of cockiness will leave him completely, and he will bare his heart to the darkness.
At Xavier’s, he has found a home and another family within, which is helping to shape his personality for the better, his charm and cockiness forever a part of him, yet, at the same time, not as bad as it was when he’d first arrived. His competitor’s streak, although still very much present, is no longer ‘all abou’ me’ orientated, more to the point where he wishes to help others learn the skills he already possesses. From a man whose tendency was to be selfish, caring not for anyone but himself and the prizes he could attain, whether money, jewelry, or other such thief-type related, or the many femmes who so very often threw themselves at him, to someone who is ready to settle down with the new love in his life, Shadowcat meaning everything to him.
A changed man he has become…
Demeanour: Confident
Nature: Cheeky, suave, smooth and loyal.
Current Affiliation: X-Men, Faculty
Previous Affiliation: Marauders, Reavers, Thieves Guild of New Orleans
HISTORYVery little is known to Gambit about his biological family and even less is known to anyone else bar his adopters.
Orphaned at birth, Remy LeBeau was kidnapped from the hospital where he was raised by the LeBeau Clan Thieves' Guild, and given to the Antiquary, a ‘collector’ of many rare artifacts, including children as a tribute. Immediately Remy was recognized as special and unique by his red-on-black eyes, the child soon referred to as ‘Le Diable Blanc’ (‘The White Devil’), believed to be the fulfillment of a prophecy to unite the warring Thieves and Assassins Guilds . Eventually he was placed in the care of Fagan's Mob, a gang of street thieves who raised the child and taught him the ways of thievery. After living as an orphan on the streets, a 10 year-old Remy attempted to pick the pocket of Jean-Luc LeBeau, the very man who had provided the baby to the Antiquary in the first place. After seeing his worth, and his skill, to successfully take something from the patriarch of the Thieves Guild, Jean-Luc LeBeau, couldn't stomach the idea of Remy growing up in a virtual prison, used by someone who could never bring forth the boy’s true potential. So, he in turn stole the boy away and adopted him in to his own surrogate family, the hush spoken New Orleans Thieves Guild.
Remy was raised first on the streets with a gang of pickpockets to keep him out of the Antiquary's view and under Jean-Luc's distant gaze. His kinetic charging abilities manifested early in his teens, Remy keeping this fact a secret from his family and friends, practicing his powers away from prying eyes. Remy went from being an ammeter thief of considerable skill and conquest when he was nine to a formally adopted member of the Thieves Guild of New Orleans. Along with his surrogate cousins Emil Lapin, Etienne Marceaux, his foster brother Henri, and foster sister, Minette, believed to be Jean-Luc 's daughter, Remy grew up to be the most talented thief in the Guild.
He had been previously given the opportunity for very few social excursions however that changed when he attempted to rescue a young girl who immediately caught his eye (regardless to the fact that she was only 8 at the time), however he would soon find she needed no assistance, and been grateful that she did not find his presence a threat for she was the daughter of the dreaded Assassins Guilds leader. A friendship began between the 2 and over time Remy and Belladonna formed a bond that surpassed their differences and angered the rival clans. In time, these two ended up marrying in an attempt to reconcile the Thieves and Assassins Guilds
When Remy was 15, he agreed to be the advisor on a fellow members (Etienne's) tilling ritual, his formal induction into the Guild as a full-fledged thief. The two went on a job to Spain, where Etienne was charged with stealing a chalice from the mansion of Candra, the benefactress of the Guild. Remy, in the mean time, was learning to control his emerging mutant powers. They came in handy when Etienne's job went bad and the two boys had to escape Candra's mansion ahead of a horde of armed guards. The two were eventually captured and sent to the island base of a slaver known as the Pig, who planned to sell them and others their age to HYDRA as boy soldiers. Remy escaped using his limited control over his powers. Regrettably his companion was not so fortunate and drowned in the river below the Pig’s base of operation, crushed under the rubble caused by Remy’s attempted escape. The one thing he took from this event was the use of playing cards as his choice of projectile although he would not use them consistently until after his association with the Thieves guild.
Remy's first real job as a thief also ended in disaster. He was sent to Paris, France to steal a magnificent ruby necklace called The Cheating Star. A young woman named Genevieve Darceneaux, daughter of the jewel thief who had originally stolen it, owned the jewel and Remy seduced her in order to get to the necklace. Tragedy struck, however, when a professional and sadistic hunter was hired by the scorned jewel thief to return the emerald and deal with the guilty party emerged in the form of Victor Creed, AKA Sabretooth. In his initial attempt none other than Remy out matched him. Creed was furious at being throttled and studied Remy for several days before striking again. He kidnapped both Genevieve and Henri LeBeau (who had been sent to observe Remy’s progress from afar) and hoisted them up towers of the Notre Dame cathedral where he dangled them from the roof and laid in wait eager to get his revenge in the form of malicious pleasure from others misfortune.
On Remy’s arrival he already knew the situation was not only in Creed’s favour but next to impossible to come back from, the necklace was slung to Creed as he dived for the 2 tied associates that had been dropped from the roof, knowing he had to choose one or lose both he managed to save Henri, allowing Genevieve to fall to her death. Because of Remy’s intervention she was able to say a few words before her life came to an end and she chose to use those to tell Remy that he had no need to steel what she would have given him willingly, and from that moment on he realised that he had to be cautious for as skilled as he was his actions could have grave implications for those around him.
Years passed and his strained relationship with both his own guild and that of the Assassins grew to new depths despite the initial possibility that his relationship with one of the young Assassins would breech the gap between the 2 factions. It was his Brother-In-Law’s jealously and hatred for the Cajun, for even daring to marry his sister, for even thinking the Assassin and Thieves Guilds could ever be drawn together as one, that saw the Cajun eventually have to leave New Orleans, with a price on his head from both the family he’d grown up with, and the warring party he’d wanted to eventually see united as one with them.
Julien confronted him after the wedding, challenging him to a duel the guild honor would see him have to take up. In the ensuing melee Remy ended up killing his Wife’s brother in pure self defense, knowing the man wanted nothing more than to see him dead. Almost immediately after, he fled, fully aware that once the truth was found out, and with only his side of the story, his life would be taken in a twisted idea of an honorable revenge.
After this event he took the name Gambit to both resemble his nature and to ensure that his talents were well renowned without giving away the rights to his limited social access or the identity of his family. From that point on and up until he met Mr Sinister, he never used Remy LeBeau again, therefore never heard anyone address him by the name, nor the nickname, Le Diable Blanc, both names soon left far behind him.
Wandering the world and plying his skills as a Master thief and capable Gambler, Remy came into the employ of the mutant 'genetic engineer' known only at the time as Mr Sinister. Remy’s powers where growing at an uncontrollable rate, an extensive amount of energy flowing through him to the point that he could no longer withstand it. In return for Sinister lowering his powers to a controllable level, among other missions he was sent on, the last of these ended up being the collection of a group of mutants with specific powers, incorporating them in to a team called the Marauders.
Gambit was issued one final chore, to lead the Marauders to a section of the New York sewer where a large horde of physically deformed mutants dwelled, The Morlocks, mutants Mr Sinister deemed as impure and a disgrace to the Mutant gene. Completely unaware of Sinister’s true intentions Gambit was unable to prevent the Marauders from killing a considerable number of Morlocks, but he was able to save one, a child with bones protruding from her body . Her name was Sarah, AKA Marrow.
After this point in Gambit’s life very little is known however somewhere during these past events he came across a young girl named Ramana who intrigued the cocky Cajun greatly, so much so that he followed and confronted her outside the toilet block she’d disappeared into. In confronting the girl he worked his way in to her mind with great ease and with what little time he had he taught the girl much, and they grew closer than he had experienced with anyone for a long while, if ever.
On one September afternoon in 2004, Gambit reemerged and reentered the girl’s life, begging for help from the woman he remembered only as a young girl, yet, who now was now a fully developed (in many ways) woman going by the name of Mana. He informed her he was being hunted by Colonel William Stryker, the man wanting him for the same reason he wanted so many other mutants, to use them for a means to his own end, to experiment on them, to do all sorts of things to make them apart of his Weapon X program. The X-Men agreed to allow him to stay, a few days later seeing a helicopter land on the Xavier mansion grounds, Lady Deathstrike and a platoon of soldiers exiting. Blade Girl, Shadowcat, Cyclops, Jean, Nightcrawler, many of the other mutants moved to intercept them, however, while Mana was busy using her healing abilities to seep the mind control drug from Lady D’s system, Gambit gave himself up to avoid anyone else getting hurt.
However, his friends weren’t about to let him go that easily, pursuing in the Xjet, and succeeding in not only bringing the helicopter down, but sending a message to Stryker that Gambit was now off limits to him, and Lady Deathstrike was no longer his either. Despite their immediate rekindling of friendship after this Gambit remained distant and was not only reluctant to join her as an X-Man but avoided becoming emotionally close and taunted her constantly as a means of keeping distance. He eventually admitted that this was due to his past however, as of then, she had no realisation of how dark and dire it truly was.
Since his reluctant stay at the Xavier mansion Gambit soon came to realize his usual cocky, somewhat arrogant ways were not going to get him far among the X-Men. At first, he did not like even the sight of the Wolverine, for some reason, in him, being reminded of so many things he was trying to leave behind. However, once Remy let down his guard, and his attitude abit and got to know the Canadian born feral, he realized he was someone to look up to, even though the Cajun will never actually admit that to his face. Where he took him a while to warm to the likes of Logan, it took him merely an instant to find himself enamored with the many beautiful femmes of the Xavier mansion, growing quite close to Kitty Pryde, Betsy Braddock, his fellow Southerner Rogue, and of course, he couldn‘t help but flirt with not only them, but Jean, Ororo, and many others as well. At first, he admired only from a distance, never allowing anyone but Blade Girl to get too close, and even she was not been privy to seeing all of him until much later on, for there was a darkness to his past he knew many would react unkindly to.
Once given access to the Danger Room, and finding an area up within the secluded confines of the attic, Gambit kept up the training schedule he’d had long before even becoming aware of the X-Men’s existence. He looked for formidable opponents in fellow team members and other residents of the Xavier institute to spar with, however, more often than not finding himself facing an invisible opponent, and the moment he was shown the kitchen, that is where many would often find him, cooking up a storm of spicy Cajun cuisine and well, normal American stuff as well, once the request and complaints came that the food was too hot, too rich, too much.
It was when Remy learned of the link, and subsequent hold Nemesis had over both Mana and Jean, that the truth about the mutant massacre was found out, the healer not herself, forcing her way into his mind, in doing so sharing the entire events with both Rogue and Phoenix. Breaking the hold Nemesis had over Jean and Mana did not quell Marie’s rage, Rogue going after him seriously wounding the Cajun in the process, before she was snapped out of it by the Wolverine and Professor Xavier.
He was also aided by 2 drifters calling themselves Reaper and Muse, the latter, along with Quicksilver taking the wounded Gambit to a secluded AutoShop at Remy’s muttered request where an old associate of his, Grey Crow, saw to him until he was healed.
Gambit again turned up at Mana's holiday home, where he got up to his usual old tricks, thankful for Mana’s forgiveness and understanding that many of those within the Xavier mansion walls held dark and sometimes sinister pasts. The fact he’d tried to stop them was all that mattered in the end. It was here that, after leaving the Thieves Guild life behind for good, or so he thought, he was suddenly contacted out of the blue by his foster sister Minette informing him that their father was dead. Revelations that were followed by another one: that the two were brother and sister biologically. Minette followed him to Mana's holiday home, returning to the mansion with Blade Girl, Psylocke, Amp, Mana’s sister, Prism, and another young mutant named Wound, when the healer picked up on her friends’ pain via the link, Gambit reluctant to let Mana confront Nemesis on her own, yet knowing it was the only way.
Even though the months that followed these events were relatively quiet, life at the mansion is never just that simple. On on Wednesday, March 2nd, 2005 the entire school went on a privately invited field trip to a new museum opening up on the outskirts of New York.
It turned out that they weren’t the only ones invited, and soon, the true reason for this museum, and the invite sent out to both the Brotherhood Superiorum, Xavier’s School for Gifted Youngsters, and other known mutants, became apparent, as the Brotherhood and the X-Men, faculty and students, as well as these others, worked side by side, in the different exhibits they were confined to, fighting for their lives against a museum that’d just locked down and come alive. Gambit found himself locked within the Knight’s Hallway, with Shadowcat and another he hadn’t thought he’d ever see again, Belladonna now fighting by his aside against a common foe rather than trying to end her ex husband’s life.
It soon became apparent that Gambit was one of those chosen, for his ability to kinetically charge both himself and other objects was certainly something the ones behind the entire thing would treasure. The pincers soon lowered from the ceiling to grab him, taking him up and into the prison ship above the museum. Fortunately, a rescue mission soon caught up to the prison aircraft midair, and thanks to a soon to be ally, the ship was brought down, and the Cajun was again among many that avoided being shoved in a cage in the factory beneath the very ground the ship had been brought down on.
Not long after this event, Apocalypse set his eyes on Mana’s sister, Prism, Polaris, Havok, and a few others, chosen to become his Horsemen. Gambit was able to save Lorna from eventually fully falling to this fate, however, in the process, had to allow Alex to be taken. It broke his heart, to later see Scott’s younger brother as the Horsemen War, and to then, even after he was freed, to watch him struggle with the darkness that was still so much a part of him. If only he could have helped both of them, if only he was more powerful… if only sometimes still to this day flows through his head.
Although he will always, always love Mana, their friendship something that will forever be apart of him, Gambit finally realized that he was in love with Shadowcat, soon making this known to both the healer, and the mansion’s resident phaser herself. They have been dating ever since…
The life of an X-Man never ends, as on Tuesday, August 31st - Thursday, September 2nd, 2005, the Xavier mansion, along with every other mutant faction or individually known mutant, was attacked by human-sized Sentinels, some with the ability to transform into various machines, in the LeMasias’ second attempt to capture their Mutant Trophies. It was then that the mutant formerly known as Nemesis, now going by the code name of Dark Voltage, was heard from again, only this time, he wasn’t really working for the bad guys, simply there to thwart their attempts to keep those they managed to capture prisoners for long, as well as take down the plans of the LeMasias for good. {You can find the full Summary for these events
HERE.!
The next major event in Gambit’s life was actually one to be treasured, as, while celebrating the marriage of Pyro and Swann, finally tying the knot on Sunday, October 16th, 2005 in a wedding ceremony that was simply beautiful, it was at their reception that Remy opened one of the crates in the kitchen, thinking it to be full of more food items for the party. Instead, there was little Rosie Johannsen, AKA Whoosh, staring up at him with wide, tear-filled eyes. Taking but a moment to get over his initial shock, Remy, along with Storm, and a few others soon conforted the little one her discovery something that did not interfere with the special day, but merely added that extra distinctive element to it all.
The blessing of finding little Whoosh in the crate at Pyro’s wedding was followed up with a tragedy that hit the Cajun hard, the loss of his as yet to be born nephew, Lucien, when Minette’s ex, claiming to still love her, turned on Bane once again, pushing her out of her attic apartment window in the ensuing melee. To this day, Remy will often beat himself up over the fact he was right next door but was so deep in a much needed sleep he didn’t hear a thing, vowing to track down and avenge his nephew’s death himself one day.
Remy was not apart of the events surrounding the Hellfire Club’s Mutant Brawl scene, simply getting on with life at the Xavier mansion until on the night Man’s Best Friend turned on everyone in New York City, he was one of the first to not only spot the canines appear from the trees, rushing over the Xavier grounds, but also among the first to confront them, to try and stop them from gaining access to the inside, and those too young to even think of defending themselves against such a formidable and many foe. All the while he was fighting, he felt the concern for Kitty and Hope, both of which he thought to be still at the mall, not realizing Shadowcat was fighting her own battle not too far away around the other side of the mansion until he was reunited with her later on in the Medlab.
Since the canine attacks, the antimutant sentiment seems to have changed, Gambit not quite sure what to make of it, being able to walk down the street without covering his eyes and no one really taking any notice, some even smiling at him. A few times, he has even been asked for his autograph, since even though he hadn’t been in the city like so many of the other X-Men, they still knew who he was;; his face had been seen on T.V.
Now, just recently, his ex Wife, Belladonna has turned up on his doorstep, quite literally waiting for him to return late one January night, begging for him to take in her little girl, look after her, while the now claiming to be ex Assassin heads off to deal with those pursuing her. Gambit vehemently told her to stay, almost sure just by looking at little Sophie Bordreaux that she is his daughter, however, this remains to be seen, as does the momentary feeling of Mana’s pain felt down via the telempathic link they share…
SAMPLE ROLE PLAYIt was fortunate for Bella that she was indeed right this night, yet, he had not been out for the reasons she may have thought, for Remy was no longer the same man she used to know. He couldn’t quite put a partly gloved finger on when it’d started, however, there had come a time in his life, at some point during settling into the mansion and accepting that Xavier’s was now his home, that he stopped going out all the time;; he actually stayed home on a Friday night, a Saturday night, and if he was going out, he would actually tell someone! Gone were the days of only caring about himself or, those many, many years ago, about a certain daughter of the leader of the Assassin’s Guild too.
It had taken him a long time to realize it, that being out partying all night, waking up with a different woman each morning was an existence he‘d no longer wished to continue with. He had more to live for now, so much more, including the woman he now loved, Shadowcat more important than anything else in his life. Even midnight was early for him, point of fact, coming home
alone on the same night had once been a stretch.
However, here he was, driving along in the partly lit streets towards a home he couldn’t possibly ever think of leaving behind and people he dreaded even the mere thought of living without. And why exactly was there a car parked across from the gates at this time of night?
Remy slowed the bike to a stop for all intents and purposes about to go through the usual security checks, keycard appearing in his hand out of nowhere, when really it’d just been up his sleeve, a classic hiding place for all card-like things with this particular mutant. He paused though, head turning ever so slightly to glance back at the car, so when the words came and the woman he instantly recognized them as belonging to stepped from the shadows, her pale face, red lips and a beauty that’d once completely had him smitten, the keycard disappeared once again, to be replaced by one he wouldn’t have any qualms in actually using as a weapon…
For the last time he’d heard that voice… the usual had followed… his ex Fiancé had tried to end his life.
“Wha’ de hell yo be doin here, Mon Cheri!” he all bar hissed, never in the mood for facing old enemies bent on killing him, least of all this one, hating him so much for something that had been completely and utterly unavoidable;; something she’d never ever given him the chance to explain. “I no’ be in de mood for wha’e’er yo be wantin to throw at me dis time,” with one partly gloved hand he reached up to remove his helmet, narrowed red-on-black eyes now clearly seen. “Yo be gettin back in dat dere vehicle o yoahs, Belladonna. Dis no‘ be de time nor de place t‘ be settlin our dif…” his words trailed off as his eyes left Bella’s face, moving downwards in time to hear,
"Are y' de king 'o hearts?"All he could think of to say was, “Oui, mah petit,” the dangerous look in his eyes melting away almost instantly, not taking his eyes off the young girl even as Bella ordered her to go back to the car.
"Are y' 'ere te make da bad men go away?" only then did he look to the Assassin Queen for answers;; only then did he see the resemblance, here the little one call her
“Mamam”, his face soon a very clear mask of shock.
“Since when yo be havin an enfant, Cher?” he asked his Ex straight. “How old she be?” and with that, all thoughts of warning Bella away were forgotten. “She be mine, oui?” well, that tone was interesting, for it held only hope, far from how he’d have reacted to such a revelation a couple years ago. He wouldn’t have cared, wouldn’t have shown either of them the time of day… now… well, since losing his nephew, and barely getting to see his niece, and with so many other little ones around the mansion, the chances of him actually welcoming her if she was indeed his daughter, and yes, even if she wasn’t, was yet another change to the Cajun Bella had yet to see.
"Sophie ... I said ... in da car!" this time, when Remy narrowed his eyes at Bella, it was for a far different reason. “Non!” he said, voiced raised just a little. “She be stayin, an yo…” swinging his leg off the bike, he walked around, trench coat falling into place perfectly behind him, silver boots reflecting the overhead lighting on each side of the gate. “Yo be givin me some answers, Mon Cheri!”
