Non-Curriculum: Brian Braddock is a rather intelligent man. He possesses a love for science much like his father, and has the same desire for peace. He prides himself in his technological designs and implications, along with his fluency in Japanese. He is skilled in many sports, including football, rugby, soccer, and cricket. His primary past time, however, is driving one of his many rather fast automobiles.
Education: PHD in Physics.
Resources: Braddock inheritance, shared with Betsy.
X-GENE MUTATIONUltra Dense Muscular Structure: The super density of Brian's muscular structure grants him strength much greater than that of a normal human. Under optimal conditions, he can press just under two tons. He also possesses greater resistance due to his build, and can withstand gunfire with little to no injury.
Control : Involuntary.
Weaknesses: His own fear. Brian sometimes doubts his own abilities, and is afraid that he will be of no benefit to society. Because of this, he may sometimes be unable to focus.
Flight: Able to fly at the speed of sound. His acceleration is rather at first, but if he is given a good stretch to cover, he will speed up very quickly. He already somewhat has a natural ability to move faster than normal humans, but his exo suit actually turns this untapped energy into flight.
Control : Good, but needs some work as it has not been perfected. He is also slow on the takeoff and acceleration, and must be careful not to fly faster than he can take in air.
Weaknesses: Must be clad in his augmented costume in order to fly, as it is not a naturally occurring power. Since his muscles are far more dense than that of a normal human, they need about twice as much oxygen. If Brian flies too fast or too high, his muscles will not be able to disperse oxygen as well as they should, and he may pass out after a while.
Force Field: Able to withstand nearly any physical attack, including gunfire, weather (excluding electrical storms) and to a certain degree, mental bolts (such as those given by his sister Betsy).
Control : Far from perfect. Brian still does not know the real limitation of his exo suit, and could severely injure himself if he is not careful.
Weaknesses: Not knowing what he truly can or cannot handle. Brian, like his sister, is quick to jump into sticky situations, but unlike Betsy, he could very well die if his exo suit somehow malfunctions while he is in it.
The Exo Suit: It is comparable to that of a second skin. The suit itself has tiny microscopic wires and sensors that attatch themselves to Brian through his pores. (They are so small, it doesn't hurt him when he takes it on and off because he can't feel them.) The suit allows oxygen to flow through faster than normal, causing his endurance and initial reflexes to be sharpened.
It also grants him his flying ability and personal force field. It does this by taking in the energy surrounding Brian, and based on his emotions (or current chemical reactions his body is having) , it will transform that energy into whatever he needs to give him either his force field (an opposite reaction of energy that he can manipulate and control) or his flight (energy exerted directly behind him, giving Brian the boost that he needs to fly.)
PSYCHOLOGICAL PROFILEPersonality: The stereotypical hero. He has a very strong sense of right and wrong, and carries a very sharp edged attitude toward those who choose the path of wrong. He is airy and light hearted, and has a sense of duty that he refuses to let go of. However, as he has gotten older, Brian has let his parent's wealth get to his head, and his confidence has grown almost into a slight arrogance.
Demeanour: Stereotypical Hero
Nature: Strong-willed
Current Affiliation: X-Men, Ally
Previous Affiliation: S.T.R.I.K.E., PSI Division
HISTORYBrian Braddock is the son of Doctor James Braddock, a well-known and respected British Doctor. Living in England, Doctor Braddock became one of the United Kingdom's leading research scientists. He married a woman named Elizabeth and they bought the mansion they renamed Braddock Manor. There, they brought up their three children, the eldest, Jamie, and the twins, Brian and Elizabeth, inherited the X-Gene from their father that endowed them with superhuman powers. The children's powers, however, remained latent for many years.
Doctor and Mrs. Braddock were killed in an explosion in Doctor Braddock's laboratory at Braddock Manor that was caused by the malfunctioning computer Mastermind.
All three children were sent to boarding schools, and completed their education there. Jamie left shortly after, failing to keep in touch with the twins. Betsy went off to pursue a modelling career, and Brian travelled to the States, pursuing a PHD in Physics at Empire State University. He was saddened by his separation from his sister, and began to play some sports to pass the time between studies. It was not longer after that he discovered he was stronger, could run faster, and jump higher than his classmates. The full extent of his powers would not be revealed for a time, however, because of his attempts to hide his abnormalities.
Brian went over fulltime for about four years, with no breaks, and completed his PHD. He then returned to Braddock manor to be with his sister. It was about this time that Betsy's powers began to emerge. Brian became frightened for her, believing that she may have become schizophrenic. However, the true nature of her powers began to appear, and Brian was no longer worried about sister. She left Britain shortly thereafter to supposedly work with Charles Xavier (About the time Stryker discovered her powers) and Brian was left alone.
Shortly after, he began working for S.T.R.I.K.E., PSI Division, a British Intelligence Agency branching off of S.H.I.E.L.D. He did mostly technological design, not actual missions, and it was here that he created the exo-suit, which granted flight and a nearly impenetrable force field to its wearer. It was part of the super soldier program, headed by the European Defense Initiative, which later stopped the program. Brian saved his exo-suit from being destroyed, somehow knowing that he would be using it some day.
Not long afterward, on his way to eat lunch with friends in Downtown London, the true nature of his powers were revealed. While on a bus, several firebombs went off, overturning the bus and several other automobiles. Thanks to his resistance, Brian was only slightly injured and succeeded in not only freeing many trapped pedestrians and motorists, but unknowingly apprehended a terrorist with a detonator on his person. Brian was then proclaimed a national hero by London reporters, and one of the more imaginative publications coined the name "Captain Britain".
The press officially went wild, and many agents attempted to turn him into a huge celebrity and international superstar, but Brian refused, retreating to Braddock Manor and quitting S.T.R.I.K.E. for a while, hoping the press would forget about Captain Britain. Brian knew that he was meant to be a hero, but he was afraid that because of his unwanted publicity, he would be unable to benefit society.
Later on, Brian was asked back to S.T.R.I.K.E., after the press had all but forgotten Captain Britain, for a special mission. He was to claim himself as the new Black Bishop in the HFC Division in London... all in an attempt to infiltrate the group and discover plans to overthrow the British government and seize control.
Brian, and the rest of the S.T.R.I.K.E. team successfully stopped the group, and many of them were put behind bars. Brian chose to once again pick up his name of Captain Britain, and now works off and on with S.T.R.I.K.E. when he is not visiting with his sister Betsy.
SAMPLE ROLE PLAY"Can't you throw any faster?" Brian Braddock grinned at his younger sister Betsy, watching her blue eyes cloud with a slight annoyance. "Can you be any more impatient, brother?" Betsy teleported suddenly, leaving the British man alone. She reappeared suddenly in front of him, a pink aura radiating off of her, and she shoved the football hard into his stomach. As if it hurt him. Brian smiled teasingly at her.
"That was a bit uncalled for, don't you think?" Betsy rolled her eyes playfully. "Of course not, luv. We both know this is not a level playing field by any means."
"Of course I do, Bets," he said warmly, wrapping an arm around her shoulders. "It's all in good fun, you know."
"I do."
"Now, if you'd like, you can always give me a day or so, and I'm sure I could come up with a little something for you to wear-- augmented of course. Perhaps it will level out the playing field a bit?" he stopped, his eyes suddenly glowing with amusement. "I'll make sure it comes with matching heels," Brian grinned jovially at his younger sister.
Betsy smiled back, the same mischievous gleam clearly visible in her eyes. "Now where is the fun in that, big brother?"
