PSYCHOLOGICAL PROFILEPersonality: Bold, outgoing, fun loving, charming, and arrogant are the five main words that describes Brian's personality. His time at White River Adventure has calmed him down as a trouble maker, but some old habits die hard. Brian was always a charmer with the ladies (still is) with his easy smile, toned features and wits. With the guys, he fits that persona of being a top dog.
Brian cannot stand indecisiveness or sloppiness, having growing up in a huge, traditional family. He is arrogant, but not to the point of being intolerable. He is very confident, and doesn't have a major problem with his powers (when he can control it). He is also a very protective person of those he loves.
Demeanour: Jokester

HISTORYBrian was born to Julian and Maria Juan Cruz near the coast of San Juan. Being in a huge family helped him tolerate the fact that he was an only child and also gave him various advantage in life. His family, especially on his father’s side, is considered one of the influential families in Puerto Rico, handling business affairs. This sometimes caused Brian to see his father at short times while he was growing up, causing him to act up outside of home.
Brian, although intelligent, was always a trouble maker, either at school or with authority while growing up. At first, it was just him pulling pranks and starting fights. Seeing this happen, his father put him into various sport activities. Brian’s favorite sports were basketball and boxing, along with surfing. However, it didn’t stop him from being cocky with the local police. Along with some of his friends at school, they would usually get into some type of trouble with the police, although they were minor crimes. However, when he was thirteen, he and his friends were caught stealing from one of the local shops, leading up to them trying to escape, but failing. Brian’s family was quite surprised at this turn of events.
Coming to terms with their sons behaviors, Brian's parents sent him to a boarding school in Rio Grande. Although he was angered by this, he understood why he was sent there. Of course, not leaving any of his old habits back home, earned him a permanent mark as a 'tough guy' at school. Whereas the boys looked up to him for any stunt he did, the teachers weren't impressed. This behavior of being a tough guy went on for some time until he received a letter from his mother, telling him that his father had a heart attack. He was granted permission to see his father, who looked like a fragile man. After spending some time home, Brian came to terms that he didn’t want to hurt his parents anymore because of his behavior. Before heading back to school, Brian promised his parents that he would behave. When he arrived, his friends and some instructors were surprised at his renewed manners.
After his seventeenth birthday, things started to change. While Brian and his crew were playing basketball, he bumped against one of his friends, Rio, knocking him down. When the others went to help him up, everyone just stopped a few feet away from him. When Rio stood up and walked towards them, they backed away from him. Brian, seeing this, was wondering why this was happening, but just shrugged it off. However, this was only the beginning of more events happening.
Throughout the rest of summer and the first semester at White Rivers, whoever came in physical contact with Brian would automatically have people staying away from him or her, for various amounts of time. Brian, at this, started to believe that he was probably a mutant. He didn’t believe it at first and wanted to test his theory. When he poked one of his friends on the forehead around the other guys, they immediately backed away. Finally seeing the truth, Brian called his parents and told them about this. Although shocked, his parents didn’t disown him, but were trying to figure out what to do. A few weeks before August, Brian received a letter from the United States from a school called The Xavier Institute.
SAMPLE ROLE PLAYDown in the gym/basement of his parents home, Brian Cruz was practicing his boxing moves. He held his gloved hands over his face, doing a little jig as he moved around the punching bag. Dunned in a pair of red and white shorts, white socks, white ADIDAS boxing shoes, and sweat covering his face and bare chest, he fit the look of a boxer. Brian was visualizing that the punching bag was a living, moving opponent. “Whatcha got, whatcha got
chico?” he muttered as he threw a swift, left jab on the side of the bag.
He couldn’t help but chuckle a bit as he hit the punching bag again, ‘dancing’ around it. "I am the greatest. I'm young, I'm pretty, I'm fast, and no one can beat me. I float like a butterfly, but I sting like a bee," he said, quoting some of the phrases by one of the greatest heavyweight boxers in the world, Muhammad Ali. He threw a counter-punch at the bag, shaking his head to and fro to get rid of the sweat that was coming down his face. He kept punching and dodging until he threw one last counter punch at the bag before leaning against it.
“Another perfect work out,” Brian said, as he walked over to his bag, proceeding to take his gloves off, showing white hand wraps underneath. He reached inside his bag and grabbed a towel to wipe the sweat off before he heard a door open then close upstairs, the familiar sound of his mother and grandmothers’ voices ringing in his ear. He couldn't help by smirk a bit.
~I know my abuelas are gonna get on my case if I go up there all sweaty. So...I guess I oughta get a show in.~ He grabbed his belongings and proceeded to head up-stairs, hoping the three women were in the kitchen or the living room so they wouldn't have to see his sweaty body. Unfortunately, it seemed that the good Lord didn't answer his prayer because the moment he opened the basement door.....
"Brian Cruz!! What have we told you about walking around without a shirt when there is company here?!?!" Maria Juan scolded her son as she looked up at him. Brian smiled, finding it amusing how his mother's petite five foot two was easily towered by his form. "I'm sorry
madre, I didn't know we were having company," he said before bowing to his grandmothers. "I'm really sorry about this," Brian said before he headed up the stairs.
He was getting ready to turn the corner when his mother called him. "Oh, Brian? Don't forget that we're going shopping."
Brian frowned, looking out from the corner. "Shopping? For what?"
"When you go to America. We want to make sure you have everything."
"Can't I just buy whatever I want when I get there?"
Maria Juan sighed, shaking her head, his grandmothers’ chuckling in the background. "Because the stuff they sell in America costs so much that it's ridiculous."
Brian grumbled under his breath, closing his eyes. He was really hoping to soak in some warm water, then sleep before going to a party that was happening tonight. "Alright. Just let me get a shower in and a nap."
"Alright dear," his mother replied before he went into his room, grumbling once his door was closed.
