“My X-Men, the President of the United States himself has approached me to form a sort of alliance with the government, a partnership if you will, where we will be called upon when those without the abilities we can offer them cannot achieve the desired result. At first, there was a list of terms given to me, to us, orders, if you will, of which I was quick to point out to the Department of Defense that the X-Men answer to no one now, nor will they ever answer to anyone in the future. My refusal to follow those terms was met with something I have not seen towards mutant kind in a very long time… understanding, compassion, an outright asking me what our terms would be, the first of which they were not the least bit surprised with, ‘Only if the majority of my X-Men agree this could be a step towards all of us living side by side in peace will I even consider your proposal’. This is why I am coming to you now. I am asking you all to consider what this could mean for our future, for the future of all mutant kind…”

Times are changing, the canine attack has brought mutants into an entirely new light. The above proposal is for all mutants living in the US… will YOU keep an open mind and possibly eventually agree to become a member of Agency X?

X-GENE MUTATION

Lycanthropic Transmorphism[b]: Myles is a lycanthropic transmorph capable of shifting into a feral form which possesses enhanced physical abilities. To trigger the transformation process Myles in the grip of intense emotion, especially anger. In this form, he has a feral appearance reminiscent of the classic wolfman-type werewolf, beloved of the Hollywood movies. At 6' 1" in this form he stands tall, though still relatively lean seemingly built more for grace than raw power moving with a fluid grace. A luxuriant coat of coal black fur covers his entire body. His eyes are acid-yellow shining with an intense feral rage. His ears come to a definite point while his fingers end in razor-sharp claws. Perhaps most disconcerting is his frequent manic grin, displaying a vicious set of fangs.

As Vivisector Myles possesses superhuman strength enabling him to lift around 1000 lbs under optimal conditions. His agility and reflexes are superb, on a par with an Olympic level athletes. He possesses heightened auditory and olfactory senses at around fifteen times the human norm. He possesses claws and teeth sharp enough to rend substances as strong as steel. Finally he possesses accelerated healing in this form at around ten times the normal human level.

[b]Control
): Moderate- Myles can deliberately trigger a change by willing himself to feel anger though not with other emotions. However more usually the shift will be involuntary when he's in the grip of intense emotions. It is possible for him to suppress the change through sufficient concentration but this isn't always successful. Once transformed he can remain indefinitely in lycanthropic form, though normally once he's sufficiently calm he'll automatically shift back though this could take some time.

Weaknesses His more feral side emerges when lycanthropic, making him likely to act on impulse and instinct as much as reasoned thought. He will often leap before he looks and his curiosity can lead him into dangerous situations.

PSYCHOLOGICAL PROFILE

Personality: Myles is a somewhat introverted but generally sensitive and intelligent young man. He's quiet and softly-spoken, his articulate speech readily revealing his intelligence. He can be shy and a little awkward around people but once he warms up he reveals a kind and gentle nature. He is though more comfortable with the company of a good book than generally socialising. Though he is shy he also seems calm, rarely seeming to lose his temper and behaving at all times in a rational way. This calm exterior can be deceiving, his attempt to control his more intense emotions by bottling them inside. Having learnt what triggers his shifts he tries to keep a tight rein on his emotions.

At one time he possessed an entirely different side to his character when shifted, which became in time an entirely separate personality, that of Vivisector. Over time he became ever increasingly feral, becoming consumed by the darker emotions that triggered the shift. That personality has gone now, though traces of it remain and the wolf is still a definite other side to his nature.

When shifted Myles reveals a rather different side to his nature, almost an entirely separate persona. The wolf part of him is extroverted, confident where Myles is shy, hedonistic and funloving where Myles is quiet and studious, playful with a rather warped sense of humour where Myles might display a dry wit. Other qualities the wolf possesses are a seemingly boundless curiosity and impulsive nature, with a tendency to act rather than think things through first. Overall he seems to follow the rule of 'so long as it harms no-one, do as you will'. Though admittedly his concept of what harms others may not always be the same as everyone else’s.

A more animalistic side is also displayed, with sniffing the air, howling when excited, growling when angered all displayed, though Myles would be embarrassed to admit this. The feral bloodlust the wolf possesses is also something he doesn't like to acknowledge. Quick to anger, though quick to forgive he is capable of extreme violence when provoked. Mercy isn't a concept he entirely understands and while he won't necessarily enjoy killing, neither is it something that would necessarily disturb him.

Demeanour: Reserved, shy and Scholarly as Myles; Feral and impulsive as Vivisector

Nature: Unstable

Current Affiliation: X-Men, Residents

Previous Affiliation: Apocalypse's Four Horsemen

HISTORY

Myles' parents were Professor George Alfred, esteemed academician and Professor August Alfred, renowned ethnomusicologist. An unexpected child he was a source of delight to his mother but not to his father who had never wanted children. So Myles was an only child with a mother who loved him but was often absent. His father in turn resented him and never showed him love but instead emotionally and verbally abused him whenever possible. As a result he had a lonely childhood and like many only children developed a vivid imagination and sought solace in the world of books.

Given his parents it perhaps wasn't surprising that Myles was an exceptionally intelligent individual who excelled in academic subjects. At school he studied hard, enjoying learning and always graduating at the top of his class, moving up the grades at a phenomenal pace. This combined with his natural shyness assured he was never part of the popular crowd. He was labelled a geek and his gangly but slight build ensured he was the frequent target of bullying. So Myles was never entirely happy at school despite outwardly seeming so. He'd already learnt to hide his feelings since he felt he had no-one to turn to. All he really wanted was to please his father but no matter how well he did it was never quite good enough.

At around puberty Myles started having strange dreams, nightmares in which he was some kind of werewolf. On more than one occasion he'd wake up to find himself in a strange place, clothes torn and covered in mud and scratches. Still he didn't realise he was different until a couple of years later. Two of his chief tormentors confronted him outside of school and for once Myles didn't hold back the anger. He transformed, lashing out at his aggressors and leaving them torn, bleeding and scared for their lives. The reports of a werewolf were disbelieved but Myles never had any trouble at school after that day. He also at around this time went through a period of questioning his sexuality, though he now is now comfortable that he is in fact heterosexual.

Sixteen and Myles graduated early from high school moving onto Harvard University. He received acclaim for his paper on the works of Walter Whitman and that was just one of his academic achievements. His mother of course was immensely proud and Myles felt he might finally win his father's praise. So when at the early age of eighteen he graduated at the top of his year he felt his father would at least acknowledge his achievement. Unfortunately Professor George Alfred realised his son had in fact exceeded him academically. His son was the better scholar and that was too much for him to bear. At home that night an argument broke out between father and son with bitter words exchanged, including the subject of his lack of appreciation, parental neglect issues and the fact that he hardly ever shaved. In the end it proved too much for Myles.

All the anger and resentment Myles felt towards his father over the years finally erupted. He transformed right before his terrified father's eyes, grabbed him by the throat and only just stopped himself from eviscerating him. Myles hasn't spoken to his father since that day. In fact Myles just packed his bags and fled that very night. Choosing a spot on the map more or less at random, his finger alighted upon New York. One train journey later he arrived to a new start under the assumed name of Luther Talbot. For a time he hit quite a low patch, unable to cope with what had gone wrong in his life and turning to alcohol to try and calm the rage inside him. Long months followed in which Myles managed slowly pull himself together, finding himself a job as a librarian, work that while the pay wasn't particularly high at least gave him solace. A cheap apartment was rented and Myles was content if not perhaps happy.

Eventually Myles would find a place where there were others like him, when he would join the Xavier School for Gifted Youngsters where he also served as the librarian. He was happy at first, feeling he'd perhaps found somewhere he could be at peace. Unfortunately though while Myles was happy, the wolf part of him had other ideas, becoming increasingly dominant and separate. In time he had literally two personalities fighting for control and it was Vivisector who proved stronger. Vivisector consumed by hatred for his human half and determined to destroy Myles, caused increasing problems for the other residents, becoming ever more aggressive and threatening those who tried to help him.

Things got to the point where his lack of control made Vivisector dangerous to himself as well as others and he was confined in a holding cell. Though Mana and Professor Xavier tried to help Myles to regain control, the wolf only grew in anger and his hatred turned towards the ones who cared for him. When the mutant Apocalypse arrived seeking a Horseman to replace the lost Polaris, Vivisector came with him willingly, unknowingly sacrificing his freedom for the sake of vengeance. For a short time he served as the Horseman Pestilence before being freed from Apocalypse's influence after a battle with Magneto.

Free now, Myles was able to gain strength and a measure of control over his other self but didn't return to the X-Men, feeling that he couldn't face them. Trying to rebuild his humanity he would meet the mutant Lewis Reinhart during this time, an intense but ultimately unhealthy friendship forming with Lycanthropy encouraging the Vivisector side of Myles to make a renewed bid for freedom. It was when Myles chose to finally go and face the X-Men that Vivisector made his last bid for freedom and revenge. Assaulting and wounding Puma, Vivisector tried to force Mana to kill him but ultimately through the empathic link they shared, she helped Myles find the strength to shatter Vivisector once and for all and in a state of shock and confusion Myles fled.

In his confusion, Myles did the only thing he could and continued to run, only briefly stopping to say goodbye to Lewis. Unfortunately and still in shock at the time, he told Lycanthropy that Puma and Mana had tried to kill him, unknowingly sparking of a new source of trouble for one who had tried to help him. Myles though knew none of this, spending weeks in mental and physical recuperation, trying to to regain his humanity and find out what he had now become. While he finds he had succeeded in the former, the latter is something he's still working on.

Finally Myles has come to the decision that he needs to return to Xavier and the X-Men, not least since he wishes very much to make amends for his past actions. More importantly he knows he needs to gain full control over the wolf, or he could again become a monster or hurt those he cares for. Most disturbing of all, he's not sure if Vivisector is truly gone when he can still hear the echo of his howl somewhere in the darker recesses of his mind.....

SAMPLE ROLE PLAY

(My SRP from X-Men Revolution.)

~I really should try and look where I'm going.~

Sweat trickled down his forehead, glasses already misted as Myles simply ran, attempting to put some distance between himself and his pursuer. The hour had been late, a little dark to see properly despite the streetlights. He had been hurrying as well, anxious to get back to his apartment after a particularly stressful day at work. Despite the man's considerable muscular bulk, Myles simply hadn't seen him until his elbow collided with stomach. In truth from the throb in his arm, Myles knew he'd come of worst. Unfortunately judging by the oaths called from behind him, Myles didn't think the man would listen to reason.

~Not a good idea...oh it could hardly be any worse.~

Ducking into the side alley, he he knelt behind the bins hoping that in the shadows he might be unnoticed. Let the man just carry on past and not happen to glance too closely. Except he wasn't fearing so much for his own physical safety now. Already stressed and feeling more than a little afraid, he knew it was enough to trigger the shift. That cold sweat he felt wasn't simply nerves, or the itching he felt beneath the skin. Droplets of sweat beaded the stubble on his chin, mingled with blood as he bit down on his lip. The pain didn't help, not sharp enough to jolt him out of what was already starting.

~Oh no, here we go again...~

Dull soundless cracking, bones twisting and elongating, the wrenching of muscles thickening, mixed with the burning itch of hair follicles bursting through the skin. The whites of his eyes dilated and yellowed, his agonised scream merging into a lupine howl as the transformation was completed. Just in time to be wracked by a fresh wave of nausea as sounds and smells were suddenly intensified. It all passed in a few seconds, just enough time for him to catch the sound of a heavy footfall, catch the rank stench of him.

"You're going to be sorry....what the f..?", a step back, stumbling and not looking nearly so big now as he sprawled on his backside. Cocking his head slightly on one side, Vivisector regarded the man with an almost quizzical gaze. He threatened you, wanted to hurt you. Rip his throat out! So tempting and so easy as he regarded his claws, knowing that all it would take was just one slash. "I am sorry," Myles closed his eyes, gritting his teeth and trying to force down the anger. He just hoped for both their sakes that the man just ran, knowing he wasn't going to fight it for long. Blood might well be spilt and it wouldn't be his own.

The sad thing was he really didn't know if that bothered him any more.
