How one define as Active Club or Active Member? Is it by Quality or Quantity?

Aiyo, so easy... quantity mah. More hands, less work! Also more money to use, can do more admin stuff la!

But quality also important. It does not matter if the Lion is a hawker (hey, today's hawker can drive Beemers at the prices we pay for the food!) as long as he/she is clear about the Lions Objects, meets all obligations and abides by the Lions Code of Ethics.

However, don't just invite every Ahmad, Ah Chong or Arokiasamy before getting to know the person better. Have him/her attend meetings and projects, introduce to your members and invite only if requirements are fulfilled (like paying the entrance fee first!). Must be clear this is not a one-time charity donation! Otherwise, invite him/her to a function where his/her donation can be channeled to the club or deserving charity and he/she is properly recognized (by plaque etc).

Cheerio!

Hmmm....does that mean Quantity carries more weight in categorizing a club activeness?

What happen to those clubs that have 50 members but the average turnup in the meeting is 15? Legally, it is not legal to hold the meeting as there is no quorum.

What say you? cool.gif

Ya Christina's right but allow me to say this:

I have a chef, no time to attend meetings or projects but payment damn prompt! So I get him to be Affiliate Member (that's what this category is for!) As for others, they must attend or send apologies. Absence can still be considered (especially when the members travel or have other commitments: family or work) but no pay no stay! I have dropped 3 members since I took over. What for pay for them? Can always reinstate after they pay (within 6 months).

So no point have 50+ members most of whom don't attend. However, the club also need funds to survive, so place the inactive one who pay as Affiliates. This will reduce the Active Member numbers and will always have quorum at meetings and projects. That's what Hillview is doing now.

I see....Go back to my earlier posting on the Leo Omega Clubs having a similar prob...and think over my idea of having just only One Main Club in each Region and likewise, it's about time to consider an "honorary advisor" for the club....
What can they do for the club ? You'll be surprised.
We should study more into how the Chinese Associations are being administered and how they manage to survive for so many decades.....When you learn their solutions, your Quantity and Quality problems are solved hand in hand.....

Honourary Advisor for a Lions Club? Yes is good to have one, but if you get a NATO Honourary Advisor, it will be wasting all the members time and effort.
