IntroductionFirstly, welcome to Lumos Lantern (LL)! (Dude, we're cool!)
Yesyes, I know what you're thinking, "Oh gawd NO!! Another HP RPG!! SAVE ME!!". Yahwell, we've got some style going here. LL
is a school for the magically gifted, but that's where the resemblance to the HP series sort of fades off.
SettingThe school in question is called Lantern's Peak, situated in the Canadian Rockies, magically hidden from prying eyes on one of the many mountains deep in the wilderness. The school consists of many separate state-of-the-art sprawling log cabins scattered over a half-mile square campus. Connected with winding forest trails between towering oaks, pines and firs, the buildings are easy enough to find, so long as you don't stray from the path...
The magically hidden patch of mountains, almost ten miles in diameter, houses a vast range of magical creatures, mostly harmless, but not all friendly.
Rising peaks, jutting cliffs, majestic forests, bubbling streams and placid lakes, Lantern's Peak couldn't be set any more picturesque.
PlotLantern's Peak is home to almost 500 pupils, budding with enthusiasm for the magical arts, or not. You can play student or teacher, or maybe even a forest-dwelling creature!
LL is not a typical magical schooling RPG, seeing as you don't actually have to role-play the lessons. They're boring and waste time for nifty little plots. Besides, socialising is lots more fun, right?
So, the tedious lessons happen behind the scenes, and with weekly reports on what will be learned, students can use the time between lessons to play at practice, homework, hanging out, partying, or sneaking off into the forest for some adventure. Teachers prowl the buildings looking for trouble-makers or they sit in their classrooms playing with potions and new spells, ready and able to help students with homework. And the creatures of the forest? Well they do whatever they please. Some amble up to the campus for some smalltalk, and others lurk, lurkingly...
Teach, be taught, or lurk in the forests, what will you do with yourself? Join us at LL, let your imagination run wild, cause some havoc!
Extra Information- There is no school uniform, simply a shirt, jacket and winter coat issued to each pupil with their house leaf decorating it in some way. These are optional to wear.
- We do not accept canon characters, as this is a different school from Hogwarts.
- Trips to Banff are each weekend, weather depending, and expeditions to Calgary happen at least once a month.
Concerning the Harry Potter Series PlotThis
is the present day, but the events documented in the Harry Potter series are merely dramatic news stories from over the Big Pond (the Atlantic). There are no invading Death Eaters here, or grand plots of evil. Canada is a peaceful country, and at Lantern's Peak, you're as far away from he-who-must-not-be-named's influence as you can get.
The ideals and concepts expressed by those over sees may be discussed at length if desired, but the danger here is minimum.
