They have a panel at 3PM on Friday and a couple announcement will be made. Most of the big stuff comes at Celebration next month.
I will be covering the panel tweets so check over at the blog. I'll get this page updated later in the day.

I may not be a big fan of TCW, but I love that colorful hoodie. 'Fraid I wouldn't wear the Princess Leia buns.

| QUOTE (Star Wars Books) | Didn't make it to Comic Con? That's okay, here are the book announcements for Spring 2013 that were made at the Del Rey panel in San Diego. (Darth Internous)
Finally we have a new hardcover, STAR WARS: CRUCIBLE by Troy Denning
"Han, Luke, and Leia are back in action--older and wiser, but as ready as ever to leap headlong into adventure!
Han Solo, Luke Skywalker, and Princess Leia have spent a lifetime fighting wars, bringing the Jedi back from extinction, raising families, and saving the galaxy more times than they can count. They've earned the right to rest on their laurels and let the younger generation shoulder the burden--but fate has another adventure in store for our heroes, a quest only they can tackle and hope to survive..."

First up is STAR WARS: THE LAST JEDI by Michael Reaves and Maya Kaathryn Bohnhoff
"Another fast-paced, action-packed Star Wars stand-alone mass market original by New York Times bestselling authors Michael Reaves and Maya Kaathryn Bohnhoff!
Ever since Emperor Palpatine's Order 66--which called for the execution of all Jedi--Jax Pavan is the last Knight around to fight the dark side of the Force. Together with his droid I-5, Jax has eluded Vader time and again, all the while wreaking havoc against the Empire through the underground resistance on Coruscant. But now the Rebel's leader on the city-planet has been captured, and it's up to the Last Jedi to ride again...possibly for one final adventure."

What do they mean "Finally we have a new hardcover"? The whole last series was hardcover.
Also quickly reading for a nano second I thought the book was called Cubicle.

It's good to know that 45 years ABY we are still getting a book about Big 3. Who needs new generation...

I would read the (censored) (deleted) out of Cubical. I love Darth Vectivus, as long as he's actually not a sociopath. As someone trying desperately to find a light path in The Old Republic's Sith Inquisitor storyline, I would relish reading about a Sith who embraces passion and the dark side without embracing murder, greed, and narcissism. Instead, all I get is increasing numbers of moronic, shallow Jedi and vicious, shallow Sith. And more and more of the latter.
As to the real announcements...
Last Jedi...I gave you guys a chance with Shadow Games, and it was more than a little dull...
Dawn of the Jedi...the last comic tie-in was to yet another comic series that was conceptually alienating and in execution off-putting...so more yawn...
They gave Denning another book...
I think putting paranthetical semi-humorous not-obscenties doesn't do justice to my feelings on this point. I thought Apocalypse had some great moments, but was unbelievably poorly executed on simple "respect your readers" and morality points, in addition to the stylistic issues I've had with Denning since Star by Star, and aren't necessarily faults, but grate quite badly at this point given how much power he's exercised on characters I love in...shall we say negative ways (Jaina mind-raped by bugs for three years, I'm looking at you...also Jag stranded for years...and I hold him indirectly responsible for Mara...).
The copy on the blurb is almost (but not quite) as bad as a Marvel comic advertisement: "Nothing Will Be The Same Again." Yes, also, having chocolate one day instead of vanilla makes a difference that will not be the same again either. But given how Troy's idea of "not the same" is pretty much "everyone's a jerk or stupid or both" and "then they die," I think this will be pretty much just another summary skimmer for me.
Oh, please let X-Wing be successful...maybe I can buy it for my siblings?

Good stuff about Korra. Waiting a year will be a big challenge. I just hope that on Celebration they will actually announce a Post-FOTJ book with new generation as main cast. There shouldn't be problems with big cast since we are left with Jaina, Jag, Tenel Ka, Tahiri, Lowbacca, Myri, Syal and Ben. This post has been edited by Chimpo on Jul 14 2012, 06:57 AM
