FelsGoddess - RIP

Racheal Ambrose, known here as Fels Goddess, died in a car accident yesterday. At Fangirl I have shared what I know, including the link to her husband's announcement of her death over at the Galactic Drift.

I will do a longer post in the next week. I would love to include fan's remembrances and memories so it can be passed along to her loved ones so if you could share in this thread.

In the meantime let's all say a prayer for her and her family.

Such terribly sad and awful news.

I need to collect my thoughts but I will definitely be back with happy memories.

When it was posted last night on Twitter, I couldn't quite believe it. I'm just in shock. Thoughts to her husband and family, how sudden and sad.

This is awful, my heart goes out to her family. She will be missed.

Just arrived home to this news and haven't stopped crying. I was just teasing her about her husband, Joao, a few days ago and we shared a laugh about that...

I always called her "Fels" but she never complained. She was one of the first people to befriend me at TFN so many years ago. I watched her grow into such an incredibly forceful voice for women, not only in our geeky world, but in the broader sense. Racheal had so much to offer. It does not seem possible that we will receive no more of her gifts, her ideas, her thoughtful insights.

No doubt memories will continue to surface once the shock wears off. I will return when I'm more coherent.

I had to read the top of this thread about five times before it really even began to sink it. And I'm still having a hard time wrapping my head around it.


I didn't know Rachael as well as some of you. We'd just recently started conversing more thanks to the Hapan panel for the Fangirl blog. We were just messaging the other day about questions and thoughts for the Fel panel we both wanted to do so badly. From what I knew of her, she was kind and passionate in expressing herself. She was so eloquent in fact that when I got the email with her responses for the first round of the Hapans roundtable, my first thought was "Oh crap. She's good. How am I going to follow that?"

I was so looking forward to what insights she'd share in future rounds, but I'm thankful for the friendly exchanges I did get to have with her. She was one of the reasons the Cantina is such a great place to discuss Star Wars and more. Much love to her family.

I've been thinking about this all day. She was just so young and so thoughtful. TKL when you/if you have an address where we can mail a card can you share it with us?

Yes, it would be possible to have a memorial banner (although I'm not a artistic type). I'll be putting together some more thoughts later. Still sort of reeling a bit. I was so excited to meet Racheal in Seattle. She was so thrilled to get her copy of Mercy Kill and get reading. She had gotten to talk to Aaron Allston at Origins and messaged me about getting to meet him.

Solo_and_Fel, I think we should not abandon that Fel discussion so if you have time to jot down what you remember of Racheal's ideas that would be great.

Oh, me too! And she was really excited to be going.

I just mentioned to EJSF that I bet Aaron would remember talking with her and be saddened by this news.


As for the memorial banner: Hotshot? Want to take that one? You're better at it than I am.

I know I'm new, but I've read so much of her work on FF.net. I was hoping to get to know her and along with everyone else here. I'm sad I won't get the chance to.
