Preemptively, my first three guesses are: Wedge, Janson, and Inyri Forge.

Possibly...but there are no specs available yet.

WHOSE LINE IS IT ANYWAY?

Today, near the eve of our hallowed May the Fourth, the Tests to qualify for SCOUNDREL SQUADRON will begin. This Challenge will continue until May 31st.

As Challenge Mistress, I will provide Tests One, Two, and Three, after which time the next winning candidate must provide a new challenge. When a candidate wins the first peer challenge, then that winning candidate will issue the next, and so on. This rule will be made clear by the Challenge Mistress as Tests proceed.

There will be no more than one Test per day.

Each Test will consist of a single line of dialogue quoted directly from one of the following ancient texts:

• X-wing: Rogue Squadron (Michael A. Stackpole)
• X-wing: Wedge’s Gamble (Michael A. Stackpole)
• X-wing: The Krytos Trap (Michael A. Stackpole)
• X-wing: The Bacta War (Michael A. Stackpole)
• X-wing: Wraith Squadron (Aaron Allston)
• X-wing: Iron Fist (Aaron Allston)
• X-wing: Solo Command (Aaron Allston)
• X-wing: Isard’s Revenge (Aaron Allston)
• X-wing: Starfighters of Adumar (Aaron Allston)

In order to win a Test, a candidate must name both the speaker and the book from which the dialogue was taken.

Answers will be reviewed by the quotation provider. Candidates will be advised whether they are right or wrong in a timely manner. Simple clues may be provided at the discretion of the quotation provider. A new Test will not be started until the previous Test is won.

SCORING:

The Challenge Mistress will record the winning entries from each candidate, along with the number of guesses from all candidates needed to deduce each correct answer. One hundred points will be awarded to each Test winner, but 3 points will be deducted for each wrong guess made by any candidate in that specific Test. Therefore you are depending on your fellow candidates to be diligent in their research, and take care with their answers. To achieve the highest overall score, this challenge - like a fighter squadron - relies on TEAMWORK.

Alliances may be formed. Candidates are allowed to work together. However, there will be only one winner declared for each Test.

Upon completion of the Challenge, the candidate with the highest number of points will be promoted to Scoundrel One. Others will be added to the Squadron in order, based on the same criteria.

Winning recruits will receive a Squadron badge, rank insignia, and kill symbols* that may be worn proudly in their Cantina Signatures.

The Challenge Mistress will be watching the Scoundrels' future missions with great interest.


* "Kill symbols" represent the number of Test wins - or "kills" - achieved.

Tycho in Wraith Squadron?

Ah! Interesting...

Wraith One has decided to defect to the new squadron - or perhaps believes she has what it takes to lead two of the finest flights in the galaxy.

There is some precedent for such an ambitious officer, and certainly nothing to prevent her from taking on The Challenge. But can she live up to the legend of Wedge Antilles? Will a newcomer's determination out-think her?

We will see...

Alas, today she does not quite have the sage wisdom of a Jedi Master:

Wraith Squadron is certainly feeling confident! Wraith Two has now declared himself worthy of being a Scoundrel.

His is a very good answer - certainly I can understand his logic - but unfortunately:

Congratulations to our winner and all of the candidates who bravely stepped forward today. Remember: this is only the beginning. X-wing Xtra will be a battle to the finish.

In preparation for this lengthy challenge, the remainder of our hectic first day is given over to the participants' discretion. Candidates: be prepared to renew the Challenge tomorrow, on the eve of our hallowed May the Fourth.

I suggest that meditation exercises might be useful. Seek out the counsel of a Jedi, if you must.

I kinda wish we could extend it to "Characters who were part of Rogue or Wraith Squadron in books by Stackpole or Allston," since there are some awesome Wedge, Tycho, Gavin, etc lines in Dark Tide, LotF, etc.

True, candidate Numbers, but the parameters for this challenge were set by Admiral Antilles himself. Even the Challenge Mistress has not dared to question his judgment.

Fear not! I believe you have the makings of a Scoundrel and will do well as we progress. As with any starfighter mission, pilots must be prepared for the unexpected. There will be twists and turns, surprises and more, before our new Squadron is decided...
