Can anyone wrap their minds about how something like this can happen? I read the grand jury document and it is sickening. I feel for the victims and think that Penn State needs to clear house. I love University of Kentucky but if anything like this happened, I would want everyone gone. I just can't understand how Sandusky was allowed to attend practices with kid in tow after 2002. He was even in charge of overnight football camps. What the hell.

CNN

Edit: In most sports scandals you can laugh because of the charges like tattoos and strippers, but this makes you want to cry.

My response to this sort of thing probably isn't surprising. It involves a bad case of lead poisoning for certain people (probably including the folks who knew but let it go on).

It gets worse

Long and short is that kids raged against the firing of a man who let this happen to innocents. Paterno made a lifetime of fame and glory for himself, called himself an inspirer and a hero, while knowing that this had happened in his locker rooms, by his assistant coach. For a man who made a lot of tough calls, he avoided the most important one of his life. All he had to do was pick up the phone to put a stop to the rape of young boys.

It's inexcusable not to report it to the authorities. Period. End of story. Being a loved football coach doesn't mean a person is exempt from the law. The board made the right decision in firing him.

Not being any kind of sports fan I had no idea just how shocking this particular scandal is. Now that I've learned a bit about the school and the people involved it makes it even worse.
