Okay I finished Pillars of the Earth and the book was ok but not great like people say.

I started Water for Elephants. Pretty good, not overly deep. I'll see the movie.

Follett, well that's read for sure.

Have you read Pillars of the Earth, TKL? What did you think about it?

Currently reading: "A Fistful of Charms" by Kim Harrison. It's much better than the first three in the series.

Currently reading Ghost Trails by Jill Homer. She's a long distance endurance biker who's blog I've followed on and off since she lived in Alaska. She also takes magnificent photos, sadly there aren't many in the book. The book is about one race in particular (back in '07 I think) along with some stories of her growing up.

Overall I think I prefer the blog, the non-race stuff didn't interest me as much as the more current stories and I missed her pictures that I had gotten used to expecting on her blog. Still a good read so far.

I highly recommend her blog, especially the part about the 2009 Tour Divide. Just go to her website http://arcticglass.blogspot.com/ and scroll down, it's separated out on the right.

I just finished Reflex, the sequel to Jumper (made into a film - but haven't read the original) by Steven Gould. Quite liked both the nerdy examination of teleportation as a central plot device, and the absolutely killer heroine.

The October Daye series by Seanan McGuire (Rosemary and Rue, A Local Habitation, An Artificial Night, Late Eclipses, and this month, One Salt Sea) - fantastic combination of hardboiled/film noir and the old fairy tales (the dark ones, not Tinker Bell). The hero gets turned into a fish in the first ten pages. :-) I was utterly hooked by these novels - am looking forward to the next extremely eagerly.

After I finished that, I've started on the Parasol Protectorate by Gail Carriger (starting with Soulless). It's a bit whimsical and a bit fun, and has decent steampunk (unlike a lot of that genre that I've read), but it's written in the worst style of romance novels, and has the relationship depth of Twilight (even if it takes a more progressive approach than those books).

I am currently reading Dance with Dragons. Only 80 pages in and I'm already confused, despite having read intricate chapter summaries online. smile.gif Oh well its still really good and entertaining. It'll all come back.

I'm about halfway through Naked Heat, the Castle tie-in novel. Just as hilarious as the show. hysterical.gif

Up next is Ready Player One by Ernest Cline. As a child of the 80s, looking forward to it, for sure. cool.gif

Also picked up Stackpole's Conan movie novelization. Not that I've seen the movie. tongue.gif

I need to get cracking. book.gif whip.gif

I agree - Heat Wave isn't the best written story ever but it is fun to read. Recently finished Naked Heat and I really think those books are getting better with every one that comes out.

I finished Naked Heat and Heat Rises and I must say that this series gets better with every new novel. Naked Heat was really good read and Heat Rises was pretty awesome.

Still way behind on my non-SW reading list. tongue.gif

Next up is Stackpole's At the Queen's Command.

Reading Star Born by Andre Norton. I picked it up at the dollar store I now work at. Looked interesting and I have to say it is. The guy can really describe things so well, you feel as if you are there seeing it.

Also reading the tie in book for the Fable 3 game. This one is called Blood Ties. It's okay for a media tie in. Those who play the game will recognize the people and places in it. Has funny points as it's written in first person view of the main character and he, as he put it, is a vagabond in life and it's only natural his thoughts wander as much as his feet.

I picked up Rick Riordan's Red Pyramid. I know it's a "youth" book, but I read an excerpt via the Nook for PC app I have from Barnes and Noble and it looked rather interesting. I'll probably read that when I finish the two I'm reading now.

Sad to say, Hunger Games. Will have more to say when I finish Mockingjay.
