We received 3-4 inches of snow on top of the ice today.

Been a while since we had some Crazy Weather here. I can change that.

Here is what happened outside my house ten minutes ago:

The first thing I noticed was a roaring wind, then the light in my window went from sunshine to darkness. I unplugged everything immediately and looked outside in all directions to decide whether I should go to the basement. But I didn't see any funnel clouds - just scary skies.

It was over in three or four minutes except for the thunderstorm (which continues). Then for about five minutes there were police and fire sirens all running west out of town. I hope that isn't as ominous as it sounded.

We're still under severe weather watch for another hour or more. The sky and air are those weird colors you get after tornadoes and really bad storms and they keep changing. Freaky.

There was a tornado early this morning on the west side of Toronto but the weather all day (until now) was bright and hot. All the right conditions for this sort of stuff. The thunder is supposed to last until morning.

Happily, I went up to the farm earlier during a sunny and hot afternoon and put all the horses in the barn. That was mostly because of the heat outside, but in the back of my mind I was thinking we could have some storms. Funny thing was, the old mare - who never wants to come inside - walked right up to me and stood still while I snapped a lead shank on, then she calmly following me into the barn. That literally has not happened before. She hates being inside. eyebrow.gif Tell me she didn't have some sense that the barn was the right place to be. Uh-huh. yes.gif

This kind of stuff has been happening all over the place. We are used to seeing it in the various "tornado alleys" in the U.S. but not this far north - until the last few years. Our climate is definitely changing.

The sky is half dark and half orange now. Think I'll go over to the weather channel and see what's happening.

Wow! I'm glad you're all safe. Many T&P's to those in the affected area.

Thanks.

All seems pretty good this AM. A couple of tornadoes in Ontario but mostly severe "downdraught" winds; sounds like two, perhaps three, people lost their lives. One man died when the float plane he was in was flipped over on a lake. A lot of damage in some areas but not very centralized - just all over the place: a house gone in one town, trees down everywhere, power out in several towns. The whole thing definitely cut a path from West-Northwest to Southeast that was about 150 miles wide.

Geez. I'm going to have an amazing view of this stuff from my new "perch" on top of the hill at the farm. scare.gif

At least I'll have a 360-degree view of what's coming!

This house was hit by lightening and destroyed. It's about three blocks from the condo I used to live in...

Great photo of the sort of lightening we had...

Tornado touchdown in Louisville around Churchill downs. 5 barns were damaged. No horses or people were harmed but some horses are running loose and obviously scared. More storms for tonight. We had wind damage the other night so I hope it doesn't come anywhere near Bullitt.

Hope everything is okay there! hug.gif

The weather is just nuts. We're also expecting T-storms and potentially damaging weather for the next 24 hours - again.

It's so hot right now in Kentucky. Heat index reached 115 yesterday and it was 90 degrees (104 heat index) in the morning. Will cool down tomorrow but it's hard on everyone especially the cat.

Even at the airport between planes Dallas is hot!

Lyne, that heat index is crazy. I showed one year in KY and thought I would die. It was the first year I had Ganner. He does not like heat because he thinks he's from Europe.

92 degree with a heat index making it feel like 100 degrees is now what I consider a break from the heat. It just thundered with lightning yesterday with minimum rain yesterday.

Emiy Emily Tropical Storm Emily. Such a fickle woman. Pick a direction girlfriend so we can decide what to do about you here in SF. Got my gas tank filled up today. That's it though.

Bad storms hit central Indiana tonight. The wind from the storms caused the concet stage to collapse at the State Fair. So far, four are reported dead.

Heard about it on the local news. The news amended it to three dead instead of four. sad.gif

Bad storms in SF last night. Bad....lightning and thunder and red rain cells all across the area on the radar. I had three dogs on the bed and a cat, all shaking.
