So cynical are we, hmmm? The Upside is that we could get an Allston wedding.

Cynical? Yeah, but I feel the same way as TKL. Perhaps because we've talked to Denning on numerous occasions. He has definite attitude about J/J, among other things. I'm all for Allston handling the wedding in his X-wing book!

He doesn't like them as a couple that's what's Denning's attitude about J/J. I'm saying this since TJK that for him there are only YJK characters that are worth writing about from this generation and Jag is just an obstacle that was forced on him.

If Denning didn't like one of the major plotlines then he shouldn't have gotten involved with the series. Nobody put a gun to his head and made him sign on for FotJ and the crap he's put the fans thru has done a ton of damage to everyone. I have no sympathy for him being 'forced' to do anything. And I place a lot of blame on his shoulders for the disgusting mess that the Star Wars EU books have become. EDIT: I use the word crap entirely to much when it comes to Star Wars these days. Exactly. Either suck it up or get out, just like everyone else has to do at their jobs.
I'd rather Allston handle the wedding anyways.

Cynical for a reason. I need to dig up the link but Rooqoo Depot just did a blog on the top 5 fan service moments and Z/J in the big bug sex scene from DN (hairy limbs sprawled everywhere, barf) was number 5. I posted there to disagree with that one because in theory fan service would gain you goodwill with the fans, which wasn't what happened at all or his intent.
For every 100 J/J fans back then there were probably 65-75 K/J fans and 10-15 J/Z fans. And Zekk had been knocked out of Jaina's life for about 9 books only to be brought back in and ramrodded down fans' throats. That was pure wishfulfillment on the part of the author and in some part I think subconsciously Denning trying to put Jaina in her place (it's like D&D nerd payback to the cute high school cheerleader who didn't pay attention to you).

Z/J in the bug orgy was a fan service? How many fans were happy to see it? All 5 of them, who never heard of NJO before reading DN?!
That's probably the stupidiest thing I heard in a long time concerning Star Wars.
And now I'm pretty sure that Del Rey are mad that they lost their chance with J/J when Legacy comics became a hit with fans and Fel family was very popular. They had opportunity and they thrown it in the toilet.

Ugh. That whole bug thing was a misguided smack at the majority of fans by Denning. Troy's body language when the subject of J/J comes up is very telling. He just closes off. Allston usually laughs...whether he's laughing at Troy's idiosynchratic nature is open for speculation but that's certainly been my take.

How in the hell was that scene a "fan service?" I've never heard anyone, regardless of who their favorite characters are, say anything good about that scene.

Here's the link to the blog - http://roqoodepot.com/2011/07/14/memorable...ervice-moments/I will bite my tongue on responding. It doesn't matter where the characters stood for Jag/Kyp/Zekk; if you're talking fan service what the fans like has to be taken into consideration. And J/Z was a whimper in the fandom compared to J/K. If people think the authors haven't worked at digging some fans (and yes alienating them) they haven't paid close enough attention. Yes, people cut off their nose to spite their face all the time, even business people. The way the author pay structure is set up, they already got paid no matter what they do. And that's part of the problem.

So, just because we all need some fun... Remember this little fanfic written by Lex about Fett and Daala putting a hit on Jag? It's got Jaina being a badass, and funny and in some armor, and in the end a smidge of romance. Next Time It's PersonalGo, have some fun, you're so ordered by the Commander

Well I usually skip this kind of top 5 nonsense but this time I had to comment.
| QUOTE | | It remains to this day the closest the EU has had a to sex scene. |
Have he/she read LotF Tempest by Troy Denning? Jaina sex dream had more steam than that short quote he took from DN ( which btw get's shot down few lines later in the book where it's revealed that nothing really happend. Bah even Troy admitted that nothing happend later in the interviews ) and that was actually a fan service.

Cowboy, there is at least one X-wing book scheduled. Lex posted this in the Upcoming Release Dates thread: | QUOTE | Allston's Wraith book gets a title --
Star Wars: X-wing: Mercy Kill |
To be released July 2012, as far as I know. Set around the time of FOTJ.

Personally I think they could end it durring fotj, so we could get a wedding, but would prefer that they start it during lof and maybe I don't know tie up all the freaking loose ends that were left in that series. Course that's just me. Oh and it needs to be another xwing series.

Doing some research - Fictional Frontiers interview of FotJ authors at C5 (ep 113) the interviewer on Vestara: "She's the girl you don't marry so that makes her a three dimensional character." So nice girls or heroines are two dimensional characters? Anyway - Denning notes in the interview that the FotJ was conceived to follow Jacen's sojourn. Interesting...let's discuss next week. Allston on the series success so far - he said that's up to the fans. He also said he believes family is the key to keeping the wild scifi grounded in reality. Denning said that 'you have to be a blind reader to not have known what was going to happen to Jacen after the first book of LotF.' Sohaib (the interview) notes that the books seem like they have free rein. Denning pretty much agreed. Golden says she "hit the mark with Allies" Allston's four elements that make Star Wars universal - story universe characters (readers see them as friends) mythology This post has been edited by T'Keira Lea on Aug 5 2011, 08:34 PM
