My copy of the new release, "Star Wars Comics Art" just arrived. Quite a nice coffee table book that covers thirty years of the best visuals in SW comics.

The dust cover is pretty (Crimson Tide), but I think the hardcover underneath is display-worthy. Front and back are very cool reprints of the ink-brushed (B&W) covers of Marvel Comics' Star Wars Issue No. 1 and Marvel Special Edition Featuring Star Wars, Issue No. 1, both from 1977. Inside, the book begins with copies of the originals with artist notes in the margins. They are part of a collection owned by David Mandel.

Bonus: they had the good sense to leave the hardcover art alone. There are no printed words to detract from the artistic goodness.

I like this as a history book as well as a fantastic reference collection for fans of comic art. thumb.gif

Can I enlist you to write a review of that for the blog?

I'd rather be packing for Seattle, but I'll see what I can do.
