LOL! Have you seen the video of Weltino's Magic at the dressage symposium when they were using sugar cubes as a reward? This reminds me of that.

I have a feeling Magic and Ganner would get along very well.

I've seen enough photos to know that Katie is probably right. About Ganner being the fattest horse in Wellington, I mean.

Didn't get any of those long, skinny Akhal-Teke genes, did he? heehee.gif

And you, not exactly the tallest owner/rider, nor Penny a trainer with any size to her, both in the saddle trying to wrangle this big galumfin' chestnut? Dude... if Katie Prudent said something, that horse is F.A.T.

EJSF, I had not seen that but what a hoot!

Ganner is very positive reinforcement oriented. He will come out of a nice trip and look for treats. Tomi, his loving caretaker, always has at least a couple ready. After a really good day he will lick the wall and peek his head out with the "treats for me?" look.

Scrubs, I had just been thinking he needed to lighten up on the hay. Three weeks ago I thought he looked tucked up but he can pick up weight fast. When he goes to shows out of state I have to warn Penny because he sucks up shipping and whoever has him will hang a hay bag. In a week he'll blow up to look like a tick.

It is weird though that he has none of the Akhal Teke tendencies to be slight.

From what I've read about the Akhal-Tekes, there are two body types. Ganner is the "other one."

They either develop that lanky, sleek look that is much sought after, or they are very, ah, large. I suspect the Turkmen sell off the big ones early because they prize the lean type.

HAVE GOT to make this comic work do I can wrap that up and work on all the A-T ideas floating around in my (pardon the pun) crafty brain. I've collected such beautiful bits and pieces... biggrin.gif

Scrubs, I'm going to take a front on shot of Ganner with the phone tomorrow. His ribcage is enormous without any help from some padding. Btw, some cute pics of him at SportFot and Anne Gittens WEF photo gallery from Week 7. I think you know how to find those.

He's beside himself about the hay restriction...

Ganner gets a big brag tonight with a first round score of 86 and a second round score of 88 in the Hunter Derby in the Int'l Ring in Wellington. He jumped fabulous in the handy round (second round) and made his mom really proud. Bananas and mints have been flowing!

Those warmbloods hit their stride right around his age. It's fascinating.

Well done, Gan!!
