Saw this quote from Spielberg on the movie's Wiki page

| "The horses were an extraordinary experience for me, because several members of my family ride. I was really amazed at how expressive horses are and how much they can show what they’re feeling." |
He actually bought Rumba who won the National Hunter Derby two years ago for his daughter. Yeah, he's owns some nice horseflesh. At the time Rumba won that class the word on the street was that the horse was not for sale. I will definitely be getting out the tissue and watching this.

I, too, will be sitting with a box of tissue to watch this - in the privacy of my living room after it comes out on DVD.
No way will I go to the theater to bawl like a baby. The commercials make me tear up.

The movie is a wonderful tearjerker. Spoiler thoughts
Most of the movie shields you from the violence. For instance when two boys who run off with the horses get executed they block it from view with a windmill arm, but then in the climax when the horse runs through the battlefield I had to cover my eyes.
He gets tangled in the barbed wire, and I've seen barbed wire injuries. He would have never survived at least not as intact as he was. But it's a spectacular storytelling moment when the German and Brit come out to rescue him. The ending was a neat surprise too.
Anyway most impressed how they crafted all these stories together. The two horses reminded me of Ganner and his best bud Louie at times.

No way could I watch the barbed wire scene! :shakeno:
I don't know how you sat through it, even when (some) of the violence was blocked from view. :(
