Jack’s curse

This article deals with the shooting of POTC 2, writing about the plot, the great special effects used by the director (800!), the budget, the production costs (about 225 Million Dollars) and the different settings chosen for the scenes (Caribbean Islands).

In this sequel of “The Curse of the Black Pearl” we’ll see ghost ships, cannibals, fights, duels to the death, buried and hidden chests, giant octopus, a wedding that has come to nothing, a father who has to be saved and a fatal curse to be deleted. All these ingredients can ensure the success!

The cast is the same of the previous movie, with Johnny Depp as driving force, but there are also new characters (e.g. Davy Jones, played by Bill Nighy, and Bill Turner, played by Stellan Skarsgard).

As for the settings, the most impressive place is Pantano River, where the voodoo priestess Tia Dalma lives; St.Vincent island is the place where Will and Elizabeth had to get married; Dominica, where the town of the cannibals is set, and at last Great Exuma, the island where Will and Norrington fight a duel (this is the favourite location of Keira: white sand, blue water…).

Enjoy this new adventure and drink rum…let us forget it! Cheers!

Interview to Johnny Depp

“Best Movie” met Mr Depp in LA, during the premiere of POTC 2.

Johnny looked forward to dressing Jack Sparrow’s clothes once again!
Captain Sparrow: a rebel, gipsy and cocky pirate with gold teeth, beads and dreadlocks.
He tells that there are so many adventures and episodes where his Captain can have the leading part.
At the end of the shooting of the first movie he was quite sad, because he was loosing a character with endless capabilities and skills. “I can go on over and over, really”, says Johnny.

He kept on learning to give more credibility to his character. “I watched old movies, some with Charlie Chaplin, Buster Keaton and Lon Chaney. I wanted to give a new idea of “pirate”: Jack is unpredictable and seems like a cartoon.”
He’s working at the third and last part with the directors and the other actors but they’re thinking about something else, something more…about going on a journey through the time.

As for a possible cameo of Keith Richards, he says that the rock star will be there in the third movie.
“Captain Jack is very similar to Keith and “The World’s End” will bear it out!”

“Best Movie” asks him if it’s true he will play the role of Keith in the near future (in a movie about the Rolling Stones) and he answers that it could be fantastic..!!! “It could happen, why not?”

It’s not rue that Johnny will be Edgar Allan Poe in a Tim Burton movie. They certainly will do “Sweeney Todd” (musical) together and that’s an exciting idea to him.
“Best Movie” asks him if he has an “actor desire (wish)” and he answers: “Besides being Jack Sparrow? I guess working with Lars von Trier, because he is one of those directors who love chaos and unexpected events during the staging of a movie!”
