I just don't see how they think they can still make hockey work in QC.

What a coincidence....the more vocal among those in QC just do not see how we can make hockey work in Rockford.

We might be able to make hockey work in Rockford if the MetroCentre doesn't stop having money problems. We could end up with no hockey at all.... not even IHL!

I fear it's the wonderful City of Rockford that is the root of the money problems for the BOB. They've been taking the money set aside specifically for the BOB and using it for other city expenses. Nice. Then they look to point fingers at the BOB for not being able to support itself. Well Duh!

I'm sure there are a lot of happy campers in QC having hockey back.

Hmmmmmmmm don't know how to feel about that!

As a big hockey fan, and a big hockey fan of teams in
this area. Rockford Icehogs (AHL), Chicago Wolves (AHL),
Fort Wayne Komets (IHL), and the Indiana Ice (USHL)
I love it. I enjoy going and seeing F.W. Komets games
once in awhile. Just as I do seeing the Icehogs and Wolves.
I believe that any hockey is better then no hockey.
Oh, I almost forgot, I am a life long Blackhawks fan. I have
been for over 42 years.
I love going and watching the Indiana Ice play in the USHL.
My point is, I love hockey and I love it that the IHL is adding
teams and not folding. No matter what game I go to I always
see good hockey no matter what level of play it is, because they
all want the same thing. To some day play in the NHL.
So I see the QC team as a good thing. I hope it all works out
for them.

This is really a great area for hockey. Within a 2 hour drive we have....

When did peoria change their name? and what is a "riverment?"

So, I went to a game between the Mallards and the Komets last night in Moline. The hockey was about as I expected (I had attended a Fort Wayne/Bloomington game last year). Pretty sloppy and not as fast compared with the AHL. There were a few great moves by both teams; enough to keep me entertained.

I'll tell you the biggest difference is in the officiating. THAT was brutal compared to what we are used to seeing. QC ties the game with three minutes left to play, only to have the goal disallowed by a hand pass (which I didn't see, and the play was right in front of me).

But anyway, I wore my IceHogs Booster Club jersey, so folks could tell right away that I was from Rockford. And I lost count of the people before the game warning me how bad it was going to be. I mean....a LOT of people. And the spark just wasn't there in the crowd. I'd compare the atmosphere of the stands with that of a parent of an underachieving child. Many of the people I talked to are just itching to get out of the IHL, and the local media is churning out a lot of rumors (or trying to) about going back to the AHL. And remember, the AHL QC team didn't do so well either.
A lot of QC fans won't go back to a game at the double-A level. They are just that disgusted with the level of play and officiating.

Apparently not enough people liked the level of play when they were in the AHL either, or else they'd still have an AHL team there. Tough times for hockey down there in QC...

Then what type of level hockey do they want? I'd just be happy just to have hockey games to go to.

But it would be cool if they got back into the AHL cause the Anaheim Ducks don't have a ahl affiliate. and keep the mallards alive and once again we would still have the icehogs and mallards rivalry. I don't know just a thought.
