If your just interested in a basic editing program, I would try Windows Movie Maker. It's actually quite good. Theres a good chance you already have it on your computer if you have a newer pc.

Movie maker is only good for making gaming montages and movie credits, nothin else. I just prefer to use sony vegas for everything except the credits as I have no idea on how to make credits on Sony Vegas yet.

But if all you plan to do is make montages, then use movie maker.
