I do not have Windows Vista myself. However, some friends of mine do, and they say it is not worth buying, XP will do about the same job.

(Note: That is not what I think. I have not seen it and so cannot say what I think about it!)

Look at what i found about Windows Vista on Wikipedia,

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windows_Vista

Also, The minium requirements for Windows Vista are..

Processor: 800 MHz
Memory: 512 MB RAM
Graphics card: DirectX 9 capable
Graphics memory: N/A
HDD capacity: 20 GB
HDD free space: 15 GB
Other drives: DVD-ROM

Those are the minium requirements for Windows Vista if you install it on to your computer.

If you go into the shops and buy Windows Vista, These are the things you get.. (I Can NOT Guarentte you get these.)

Processor: 1.0 GHz
Memory: 1 GB RAM
Graphics card: DirectX 9 capable GPU with Hardware Pixel Shader v2.0 and WDDM driver support
Graphics memory: 128 MB RAM supports up to 2,756,000 total pixels (e.g. 1920 × 1200) or 512 MB+ for greater resolutions such as 2560x1600
HDD capacity: 40 GB
HDD free space: 15 GB
Other drives: DVD-RW

From what I've heard, it's pretty good. I tested it once, and it's basically the same as XP (Which I use), but is smoother and more... open looking, if you know what I mean. wink.gif

The 'minimum requirements', at least RAM wise, are only if you wanna make it look sparkely. My crappy box only has 64 MBs of RAM, and it runs Vista like a charm. Granted, it didn't have Aero or flip3d, but it still worked great. Also. when I was in the RC1 testing of it, it ran better than XP did. only problem I see with it is the same problem I see with Macs. Bad for playing my favorite games.

Vista looks better than XP. It's easier to use. But has no useful games/softwares for it yet. Microsoft has finally been able to impress us, for the very first time.

I have Vista Business and Home Premium and it is pretty impressing, especially Media Center. However, when running applications, the Aero eye candy will slow programs with much memory. Vista glass is triggered by the application dwm.exe (Desktop WIndow Manager) which takes up 10k of memory.

I run linux, xp , vista and my try out bsd. Vista is a hog IMO. If you take a look at the cpu usage in Task manager , it always stays at midway, also the cpu usage on my pc never reaches 0, its always 1% and higher. For my PC driver wise it's very good, as a matter of fact , vista installs every single driver all of my pc's need but I still update the video driver wink.gif. Also Vista is really just a huge service pack of windows xp , with mac features. Maybe people should just wait till Windows Vienna comes out. I heard it suppose to come out in 2008 or 2009, but we will see.

Thats not entirely true. Yes, Vista is somewhat like Mac, but its still a good operating system. And no Vista is not like XP.

Vista wasn't so good for me. XP was slightly better. 2000 was also kinda good as the XP by under 10%. Vista is kinda of 2% worse than 2000 to me.
