I was re-reading the chapter, Snape's Worst Memory, the other day. Before I hated it, but now I love it. It's so good to see Harry's parents and the way they interacted. Is it just me, or could you tell that Lily didn't hate James as much as she let on?

QUOTE
Lily, whose furious expression had twitched for an instant as though she was going to smile, said, 'Let him down!'

Does anyone else feel that Harry over-reacted to the memory? I mean, his father was pretty young, and it seemed that Snape was hanging around outside waiting to be attacked so he could start a fight. Plus, most love starts with hate, and Harry just jumped to the conclusion that James forced Lily to marry him or something.

I think it was so cute how James was around Lily.

QUOTE
'What is it with her?' said James, trying and failing to look as though this was a throwaway question of no real importance to him.

QUOTE
James's free hand immediately jumped to his hair.

QUOTE

'All right, Evans?' said James, and the tone of his voice was suddenly pleasant, deeper, more mature.

*talking to self* Take some deeeeeep breaths, Audrey. Calm...Calm....Caaaaalm...Don't strangle...No killing...It's against forum policy...

Ok...
NO, I don't believe Snape was spoiling for a fight. Did you notice the way he moved, and the place he moved to? His gait was "twitchy", and he had his head down (reading exam paper). A lowered head is generally know as submissive, and not aggressive. And he later moves toward the bushes. This indicates that he does not want to sit anywhere exposed. He wants whatever physical "walls" he can find. This is why introverts and people who have been bullied seek the corner of a room. Their back is not exposed to enemy attacks.
And if he was spying, that still doesn't mean he was looking for what he got. Though Snape does not know it at the time, the marauders have been running loose with a werewolf (very dangerous to anyone out at night...like Hagrid!?). If they were caught, so what? It would be good, since no one would be in danger of being bitten.
Plus, even if Snape was spying, since when is the accepted punishment for nosiness soap-in-the-mouth and public pantsing? dry.gif

Now onto the greener pastures of Lily/James...^^;
Or maybe not so green...

QUOTE
"Ah, Evans, don't make me hex you," said James earnestly.

Aw, sweet. What a gentleman. angry.gif
