My friend and I were walking around Waverly and went into one of the fried food restaurants, and practically died from the amazing food. Although it was fried, it was delicious beyond belief. I think the place was called Friendly fried chicken or something. But yeah, try hole-in-the-wall places. They're usually the best!

| QUOTE (JHU_Jessica @ Sep 16 2009, 03:52 PM) | Sammy's Trattoria is also one of my favorites. It's a rather expensive Italian Restaurant on N. Charles (walking distance from Penn Station). It's a good place for Valentine's Day dates...not like I know or anything... |
Ended up going to Sammy's with my friends a few weeks ago, and I have to add my vote of confidence as well. It's really good! Here's their website: http://www.sammystrattoria.com/

Paper Moon Diner really is awesome/out of this world/ a really trippy meal. Now, I am not a picky eater and will eat anything, but if you are looking for a restaurant that has every type of food- try Paper Moon Diner. It's walking distance from campus (like 2 minutes) and fun fun fun.
Also, this past weekend I went to Hon Cafe in Hampden. Total time warp! You can almost see all of the old Baltimore "Hons" walking around in their beehives. Add in some good food, a soda fountain, and your odd hipsters- there you go! Also walking distance from campus!

I am going to second someone's appreciation for Donna's! It's so close to campus, and everything that I have sampled from the menu so far has been amazing. Plus, they take J-Cash, which is extremely convenient for when you're short on actual cash.
Also, I tried Tamber's a few weekends ago and liked it. We got take-out, so I can't really comment on the ambiance or anything, but the combination of Indian food plus "diner" food is pretty neato!

A few of us went to Sabatino's in Little Italy a few weeks ago, and it was so good! We had to take a cab there, but it was fun to see a different part of the city and the food was definitely worth the trip!

If you know anything about me, it's that I loveeee Italian food. I was happy to discover this weekend a relatively new Italian restaurant RIGHT near Hopkins on 39th street called "La Famiglia." Check it out: http://www.lafamigliabaltimore.com/

Carmas is my favorite, of course.
For cheap Chinese food, there's always Orient Express on St. Paul. It's not far from the Hop, and they have free delivery!

Just another mention of somewhere close--Azafran. Its a secret that I"m now sharing with you. It's hidden in the Stephen Muller Building--where lots of the NASA stuff takes place. They have great sandwiches and salads. Really everything from macaroni and cheese to hamburgers and tuna melts. There specials are really great and they have a lovely coffee bar.
Also--I don't know if anyone mentioned this but Eddies Market really has some great sandwiches!

Just to let everyone know though - most of the best Little Italy spots {Sabatino's, Germano's, Vaccarro's.. my favorite!} are all sort of grouped in a cluster near each other, and they're all actually in walking distance from the Collegetown Shuttle drop-off downtown. If you're in a group and heading down there when the Collegetown makes the Inner Harbor stop, it's definitely a nice walk to take! I'd say it takes like 8-10 minutes, tops.
Also, this isn't quite "Baltimore cuisine" {as they have them everywhere - I'm just a little behind I guess!}, but I am very excited to announce that I had my first Red Robin experience right before Halloween! The closest one is about 7 miles away in the Towson Place shopping center {which isn't on the shuttle route so you'd either have to take a cab or drive}, and it was basically everything I look for in a restaurant so I really enjoyed it.
