Character limit has been lifted. In need of male students more than anything else.
I may come back and post a larger intro later after talking with Nats. So here's what is for sure to help you plan your characters.
It is present time, and mutants are among us. The general public seems to be against them all. Fear and hatred run rampant, making life difficult for those who are different. There is a light at the end of the tunnel for young mutants though. The Harkness Academy for the Gifted, located in Los Angeles, California, offers a place to teach young mutants not only about their abilities and how to control them, but also provides students with needed secondary education.
The school also serves as a base of operations for a super powered team of mutants. This team serves as faculty and staff to the school as well. A deal was made between headmistress Sara Harkness and the Federal Government to use her team in times of mutant-based crisis. For while there are many mutants who wish for peace, there are just as many who wish to destroy the human population.
Your character will be a studnt or faculty member of the Harkness Academy (or both if you so choose). If you decided to play a faculty member/adult, your character will automatically be a member of the school's Government funded 'super team.' You may choose for them to hold a position that would keep them out of direct action, but I wil only allow two characters of the sort at the most. This status will be granted on a first come first serve basis.
Now for some ground rules: 1. Nats and I are co-GMs and thus, goddesses. Our word will be final. 2. I don't mind vulgar language, but please keep in mind that you will be at a school full of children. Also keep your fellow players in mind, and the fact that some of them might not like it. 3. Sexual content will be allowed to a certain degree. If you intend to go farther than a little kissing/making out, take it somewhere else. As I believe Reaps would put it - fade to fireplace. 4. No autohits unless indicated by myself or Nats. 5. No godlike characters allowed! Please try to limit your characters to two powers at most. Remeber, in the case of students, they are here to learn control. Also, try your best to avoid repeating powers.
Unless Nats has something to add (which she can PM me about if needed) that should be it.

Powers/abilities Chronokinesis. The limited ability to control time. Wesley can slow down and stop time. He can go back to the past and see the future, but he can only witness events like a spectre(much like Scrooge in Christmas Carol).
Physical description Wesley's jet black hair is combed back and oiled into place. His skin is slightly tanned and blemishless. He wears horn-rimmed glasses over his emerald green eyes, and rest on the slight crook of his nose.
Personality Wesley is a very quiet person who keeps to himself most of the time. He tends to observe and calculate before acting, and sometimes that makes him seem aloof in conversation. He loves studying how people react and that is why history intrigues him. He hates very few things because he is open minded and respects those that respect him. He is generally distant and curious, looking almost emotionless.
History/Background Wesley was left on the doorstep of an orphanage two days after being born. He grew up a troubled childhood as he was picked on by the other orphans, and he was not adopted until he was fourteen years old. During his Junior year of high school, his foster family left him to take care of the house when they went to tend to "family business" for almost a month(they really went on vacation). Two weeks after they left, Wesley began to experience the world around him would lag during school. He felt like the world was moving slower that he was, and time stopped for less that a second when he saw two people fighting in the hallway.
Wesley realized that he was involuntarily controlling time, and he trained himself how to control his powers. Slowing down time was the first thing that he mastered at the age of 17, and he began fighting crime in his high school(taking down drug users and dealers, stopping theft and vandalism). He mastered stopping time quicker now that he had a handle on his powers. He could only use his powers for small spurts of (his) time, and the next thing he tried improving was keeping his powers on for longer.
Wesley graduate with a 4.0 GPA, and went to Yale one year later. He majored in World History and teaching, and which he eventually received a Master's degree in both. When not working, Wesley continued to train his power. By the time he left Yale, he was able to move out of the present and go into the past and the future as a spectre(unseen and unheard). He is now looking for a teaching career, when he heard about a school for mutants, he applied a quickly as he could.

Physical description Ivy's skin is light brown and has a texture of smooth tree bark. Her shoulder-length hair is made of leaves that catch the rays of the sun. Her eyes are chestnut brown, and her nose is only two slits above her mouth. She is tall, with an athletic build from lots of exercise and a healthy diet of sunshine and water.
Personality Ivy is a free spirit, but is also naturally calm and content. She has an obvious love for nature, and defends all living things. She likes getting what she wants, and her ability to produce pheromones helps her do just that(as well as her naturally beautiful appearance). Ivy is deathly afraid of fire, and has panic attacks when forced to be near fire.
History/Background Ivy was born plant-like, and was loved dearly by her Hippie parents. She was home schooled and would spend her time in the grove near her parents house. When she turned 15, her power to control pheromones manifested. Three years later, she was blamed for the murder of her boyfriend, and she was driven out into the forest.
After three months of living in the forest, her parents found her and convinced her that she should go to a school of people like her, mutants. She arrives at the academy on her eighteenth birthday.

Here's my first ault. I'll be posting one more - the headmisstress of the school, and a student either later tonight or tomorrow morning.
Name: Skye Thorne
Codename: Hollywood
Age: 28
Subject taught: Skye is the school's social worker, music teacher, and drama teacher
Powers/abilities: Skye can shape shift into anyone she wants. She can do this by using her imagination, or using a head to toe picture of the person in question. Skye can go as far as exactly copying a persons look, voice, attitude, and brainwave patterns.
Physical description: picture below
Personality: Skye greatly likes the fine arts, especially music. She also loves her job in helping children like herself. Skye hates people who are dihonest, ignorant, and treat children poorly.
Skye is usually a happy person. She is still quite the free spirit like she was when she was a teen. She's dialled down her apperance though, and no longer dyes her hair wild colors. She instead chooses to leave it in its natural blonde state.
History/Background: Skye's family life was picturesque until her powers emerged. Being unable to ontrol them at first, Skye, at age 15, suddenly turned into her best friend...literally. She scared the other kids at school, and ended up running home. Her stay at home mother was surprised to say the least when her daughter's best friend barged into the house and locked herself in Skye's room.
Skye was horrified to see a different person staring back at her in the mirror. Her mother was banging on the door, but confusion was setting in fast. It took six hours fr Skye to calm down enough to unjumble her mind. When she finally came out of her room, her mother was not as surprised. Dana Thorne had gotten a call from the school about her daughter cutting classes, and then another from Raine Murphy's mother recounting what her daughter had told her.
While Skye's mother was accepting of Skye and her abilities, Skye's father Joseph was not. He berated his daughter until she was in tears and threw hr out of the house. With nowhere to go, Skye wandered until she found asmall mutant community that took her in. Here she truly branched out. She would take jobs singing and playing guitar where she could. It was during one of these gigs that The founder of the Harkness Academy fo the Gifted - Sara Harkness - found Skye and brought her to the small school.
To repay Sara's kindness, Skye went to college with the intent to become a teacher. She got degrees in Social Work and Music. Now Skye works as the school's social worker, music teacher, and drama teacher. It is Skye's flare for entertainment and ability to be anyone that garnered her the nickname Hollywood.

Well I've heard you haven't really rp-ed till you've mutant academy rp-ed, so I'd better give this one a shot (for the third time...damn my computer sucks in the heat!)
Name: Lucy Thomas
Age: 17
Powers/Abilities: Lucy can absorb and re-emit solar energy and fly (although not very fast). She can shape that energy into a concentrated beam, a wide burst, or use it to form shields and such, but her ability to use these powers is still prett unrefined. Also, since her abilities are solar based, she's considerably weaker during the night. She's learned how to turn her powers on and off at will, which helps hiding in mutant unfriendly situations.
Personality: Lucy is generally cheerful, talkative, and open. While she's comfortable as hell hanging out with guys, she gets pretty shy and nervous around girls. If something's bothering her, she's rarely going to let anyone know. She's had years of practice being two different people on the inside and outside, and keeps that up, even at Harkness'.
Background/History: Lucy had a practically perfect life. She was the only child of loving, successful parents who were a genuienly happy couple. She was the head cheerleader, dating the star quarterback. She was popular, cheerful, doing well in school, vegan, she protested cruelty to animals. She was faking almost all of it.
She still loved her parents, and animals, and not eating them. But she hated cheerleading, most of her 'friends', and was a lesbian. Most of her life felt so shallow, but she didn't do anything to change it. After all, it was a life any normal American teen would want, wasn't it? And she desperatly wanted to feel normal.
Any chance of that however went out the window when she discovered her abilities, which manifested when she was 16. Her powers weren't something she could hide as easily as her sexual orientation, and it wasn't long before her entire school and her parents knew, none of whom were remarkably accepting of it. Over the next few months, Lucy watch the picturesque life she built for herself slowly and discreatly slip away. Eventually, her parents decided it would be best, for everyone, if she went to a school for 'people like her'.

Sorry, but this will be my only post today. Out of state family coming tomorrow, so I've beenhelping to paint and clean all day and have to go back to it. I also won't be posting until later in the afternoon tomorrow because I have to go to my most favoritest place in the world... the dentist!!

Name: Ollie Maria
Age: 15
Powers/abilities: Ollie can morph into any chosen beast of nature he can think of. For example a bird or a shark (a bit like an animorph from that small book/TV series). He can't morph into humans though. His second power is like being a chameleon. He can blend into any background at any given moment.
Personality: Ollie likes to eat but is a good mannered boy. He eats calmly and doesn't talk with his mouth full. He also loves computer gaming and going on the internet. He can't stand cocky people who think they're better than everyone else, it just makes his blood boil.
Background: Ollie has had a pretty normal life apart from when he was about 10 he had been playing hide and seek with his friends out and about like you do. As he was playing he by accident morphed into a huge polar bear. His friends had no idea what was happening and phoned the police. As the police do...they tranquilized Ollie and he awoke in a Zoo having no idea what had happened. He transformed back into his normal self and was let free, the press would've been at his door for months on end if it hadn't been for the idiotic police force who were quite boggled by the matter but let it slip unnoticed.
Apart from that time and a few other minor incidents Ollie has had quite a normal life with his family and friends. The few other minor incidents included morphing into a fly in a butchers and almost getting swatted to death; morphing into a fish when he was swimming in a river and almost being caught by his father who had been fishing at the time; morphing into a bird...sounds simple enough but you actually have to learn to fly and the first time he had been on the Eiffel Tower...Ollie fell 300 ft or so before morphing back to normal then suddenly to a snake. He survived the fall with a few broken limbs but being a snake he hadn't been able to break many bones. He did some other "rebellious" acts in school for example when it was a test turning into a small cockroach, racing to the front of the class and crawling up the teacher's leg, she screamed when she noticed where the cockroach was and left the classroom with Ollie.
Well I'm going on Holiday this Friday but I'll be back on the Saturday, then leave again on the Sunday, then I'll pop back for Sunday after two weeks and then I'm off for one week and then that's it. So if my character gets accepted could you possibly control it or just bring it in when I get back?

Name: Jonathan ‘Johnny” Stellos
Age: 17
Powers/abilities: Electrical Manipulation/Generation. Can create and fire electrical bolts, absorb electrical energy, and has sometimes been known the cause small-scale blackouts when emotionally distressed.
Physical description: picture attached.
Personality: He is very confident in himself, sometimes overly so. He’s very cocky. He doesn’t take crap from anyone, and he has problems with obeying the rules (sometimes). He’s good looking and knows it, and uses it to gain any advantage he can. He has a good sense of humor and will not hesitate to be the class clown, or coordinate the occasional prank.
History/Background: Johnny grew up in the middle of down town Kansas City, Mo. His mother split when he was very young. His father was a compulsive gambler who always thought his next bet was going to be the winner. He was employed as the driver for the local mob boss. Because of his father’s gambling problem, they lived in near squalor. When Johnny was little, he would throw massive temper tantrums, whenever this happened lights and other electronics would go haywire. By the time he was 13, Johnny had been forced out of many schools for fighting and causing trouble. One night his father throwing things into a suitcase waked Johnny, and he told Johnny they had to leave immediately. As they left the house a man in a dark suit came strolling up to them, he smiled at Johnny, then pulled a gun and shot Johnny’s father between the eyes. Johnny was in shock he dropped to his knees, the man in the suit walked over to Johnny put the gun to his head, “Nothing personal kid, just business,” he said then he turned and walked away. Johnny held his father’s lifeless body in his hands and screamed in anger and sorrow, as he did this the street lights began to flicker then explode. He saw arcs of electricity shooting from his fingertips. He got to his feet and ran into the night looking for vengeance. He found none however; he strolled into a mob bar looking for answers but found a severe beating instead. During the course of the fight, Johnny had unleashed crippling electric bolts at his attackers. Though the ability got rid of a few of them, he was severely beaten and left in an alley for dead. A strange man, calling himself Mr. Michael, had witnessed the fight and saw Johnny’s abilities; he took Johnny in and nursed him back to health. Mr. Michael introduced Johnny to two other youths who exhibited extraordinary powers, Asanti who could phase through solid matter and make himself invisible, and Adam who could find anything or anyone, anywhere anytime. The three were given tasks by Mr. Michael to commit small crimes. This went on for a few years. Mr. Michael had grown bolder as time went on. He ordered the death of witnesses in a criminal case against him. Johnny and the other boys refused. Mr. Michael went ballistic and killed Adam. Johnny and Asanti lead Mr. Michael into the arms of waiting police, turning themselves in for their crimes as well. The boys were forgiven their crimes in return for testimony against Mr. Michael. Another term was to attend the Harkness Acadamy. And so here they are.
Powers/abilities: Invisibility and Phase Shifting/Intangibility (think kitty pride). He can make himself virtually invisible with the exception of a minor outline of him that can only be seen when he is moving. He can not only phase himself through walls and solid objects, but with more concentration phase other people and objects he holds as well.

Personality: Asanti is standoffish. He tends to keep people at a distance. He is uncomfortable in social situations; the only person he is known to be at complete ease with is Johnny Stellos. He is very angry deep down and finds himself lashing out at people on occasion.
History/Background: Asanti’s parents migrated to the US from Hungary, shortly after his birth. They lived on the outskirts of Kansas City. Around the time of his 10th birthday, a fire broke out in his home. Asanti was trapped in his room flames moving toward him rapidly, he clung to the walls and suddenly found himself outside the house. His parents were not as lucky. They were both killed in the blaze. Asanti was shipped from foster family to foster family, never staying in one place too long. He eventually ran away. As he wandered the streets, a car ran a red light and bore down on him at killer speeds. Asanti was frozen in place with fear, but as the car would have been hitting him, he found car moving through him. A man ran out into the street and grabbed Asanti after the car had passed, the man took him in and fed him, saying his name was Mr. Michael and he could give Asanti a job. Asanti agreed and began committing small crimes using his ability. At one point he became corner by police in a vacant lot. Before he knew what had happened, he had become invisible and ran away from the scene. As time went on Mr. Michael brought more ‘special’ children into his home, including a boy named Johnny. Johnny and Asanti quickly became friends despite their obvious differences in personality. When Mr. Michael asked the boys to commit murder for him they refused and found themselves running from the man they had seen as a father figure for years. They tricked Mr. Michael into custody then turned themselves in. They were given probation on their crimes if they agreed to testify then attend a special school for the gifted, the Harkness Academy. They of course accepted the terms.
