Harry was sitting by the fire in the Gryffindor common room. He had just finished a game of Quiddich. Then, the portrait hole swung open.
In came Ron and Hermione. They looked a bit flustered after the Quiddich match. "Hey, Harry." Ron said. "Hello." he replied. "That was some match..." Hermione said. She still didn't quite understand Quiddich, but she tried her hardest. "Yeah...Guess so." Harry said. "Nothing compared to last night. Like when the--Ouch! What was that for?" Hermione eyed Ron. "Oh...Right. Sorry." he said. "Harry, are you alright? Last night was frightening, and the playing in this weather...I wouldn't be sane." Hermione said. "Yeah. I'm alright. Or as okay as I'll be..." he said. Hermione looked to Ron. She didn't know what to do. Ron shrugged at her and they exchanged worried looks. Harry looked up at them both. "C'mon, guys. It's not that bad." he was worried about last night..How there had been a warning, and then a horrible memory had risen out of the depths of his mind. It had made him quite jumpy about things. "Harry? Are you alright?" Hermione asked. His expression had turned frightened, his hands went cold. He snapped back to reality. "Huh? Yeah." Ron stood there watching them. "I'm..er..going to bed now." he declared. "'Night." he said as he walked off. "G'night." they said to him. Harry turned to Hermione. "Hermione, last night was frightening. I know exactly how it happened. I saw the exact way my parents were killed. That's the memory I saw...That's the worst of them all." "Oh, Harry! I didn't know it was that one!" she hugged him. "I'm sorry." "It's alright. I just don't know how to deal with it. I actually saw it...like a video in my head. Like it was happening, and there was nothing I could do." "Harry, I know..." "Yeah..." he said. They continued talking into the late hours of the night. Harry told her he felt better, but Hermione didn't quite believe him. They retreated to thier dormitories to find that the night before was a vacant memory. As if somebody had blurred their minds. Within the weeks that follow, Ron is sent to St. Mungo's, Hermione is declared Harry's girlfriend and Ron's mourner, and Harry is declared lucky. Ron's condition worsens, and he dies at St. Mungo's. Harry and Hermione mourn his death, and later get married. The memory still haunts them to this day... |
