Something happened to my post here. It disappeared.... Sighs...this board is really starting to hate me.

Ok, the gist of my post was A: sorry you have to go through this. There's always issues when you have to shack up involuntarily with someone you don't know. Even if you know someone, you don't truly know them til you live with them and all their disgusting habits and true natures start to spill out, so I can empathize with you there. Been there. Not in a dorm, but close enough.

Now, take a deep breath and let cooler heads prevail. The last thing you want to do is get into a confrontation with this chick since it already hasn't worked. You might try e-mailing her a list of your concerns and cc'ing or bcc'ing your RA AND the Director.

Also, can you post for a new roommate? Surely there's someone else not happy with their room assignment. If you can find a fellow miserable person, get together with them and go to the RA to ask for room reassignment?

In the meantime, can you put a padlock on your fridge and put your non perishables in a lock box? It sucks to have to go through that, but I tell you, if someone ate my food, I'd have seriously been Aizawa in their face. You don't mess with a woman's kid or her food. I'd put man/significant other in there, but that's not always the case! Sometimes, it's good to get rid of them!

Also, I know this sounds like a lot of work on your end, but I'm sure they gave you dorm rules when you moved in right? Check over rules regarding overnight guests and curfew if any. If it's in there and she's breaking it, you have double ammunition. If you guys have key cards to swipe into the building, all they gotta do is check swipe in logs to find out what time she's mincing in and there's your proof.

Having overnight guests, especially of the opposite sex doesn't sound right to me. I never lived in a dorm but had friends that did and they didn't have that privilege. Can you get your parents involved? Nothing makes a director or RA turn up like a pissed off parent. I would think the notion that their baby is being forced to shack up in a den of iniquity should put the fear of God in a parent and a fire in their ass to get to the school ASAP and demand correction on the situation. And if not, then you can be your own advocate and be a pain in the ass of your RA and director. Spam em with e-mails, show up at their doors, flood their voice mail if no resolution comes soon. Pitch a tent in the common area and when asked what you're doing tell them. My skanky ho roommate has her boyfriend over AGAIN and I can't sleep cuz their fucking all night keeps me up! I tried telling you dips that, but nobody did nothing, so now I'm gonna stay right here and wash my thongs in front of the tv! Don't be shy about the coarse language. You got a right to peace and civility and it doesn't sound like you're getting it. Document their non-responsiveness (another reason to do things through e-mail-you can prove when and how often you sent requests for an audience or resolution and their answer/non answer). If they say they answered, and they didn't, do the Missouri Shuffle and say SHOW ME! Proof of burden falls to them then. Still no good? Threaten to get your parents involved even if you know they won't get involved. YOU know that. THEY don't. A visit with Mr. and Mrs. Ark should make the RA at least sit up and take notice. RA's are just students too, glorified hall monitors at that. They probably don't have the spine to stand up to Mr. and Mrs. Ark and tell them suck off, they've done all they can do.

And lastly, were it me, and I'm not trying to tell you what to do, but I'd save the tricks til a last desperate resort or not at all. You don't want things to escalate out of hand and get physical. Then you'll end up in as much trouble as her and that's not the goal. I fully believe what comes round goes back round and if she's really doing all this, then she's definitely on the list to receive.

Take heart, Ark. The semester's almost over and hopefully you can request a room transfer properly.

In the mean time, you have bigger fish to deal with.

Fucking work is killing me.
I am so tired all the time. I open every morning at 5 am and work until 2 at a Bakery/Cafe. My job duties are making breakfast sandwiches and sandwiches but an average day goes as such:

4:50am: Arrive at work. Stand outside for 10 minutes in the dark waiting for the baker to answer her phone and let me in
5:00am: Clock in, put out the daily newspapers, take out the trash, turn on the music/grill/rethermalizer/soup bin/egg grill/souffle warmer, fill sanitizer buckets
5:30am: Brew coffee, put bagels in oven (continue every 15 minutes for the next 2 hours), cook sausage and bacon, slice a minimum of 24 loaves of bread, clean/sweep, stock sandwich/salad line, stock bags, stock everything.
6:00am. Remind manager to unlock doors, cook eggs, slice more bred, brew more coffee, slice bagels, bake bagels, bake souffles, repeat.
7:00am - 9:00am Prepare baked sandwiches, make breakfast sandwiches, wash dishes, make coffee, bake bagels/souffles, more dishes, more stocking, more breakfast, ring out orders, put together massive orders of catering lunch boxes (usually about 50-100 in this time frame)
9-10, Bring out soups, more stock, more bagels, more dishes, more doing other people's jobs, remind manager to change the soup signs, more coffee
10-10:30/11:00 Forced 'can't get 40 hours' break
10:30/11-2 'lunch rush'. Nonstop salad/sandwich making + soups, + catering + dishes, check dining room ever 30 minutes for more dishes/dirty tables without letting orders pile up. More stock, more coffee, more other people's jobs.
2pm. drag self to car, drive home,

2:30 - 5:30pm
Mow lawn/sweep/vacuum/laundry/dust rents massive house
Walk Dog
Feed Dog
Shower

6:00pm
Start dinner, collapse for 2 hours (laptop/games/sleep)

8:00pm Dinner

9:00pm - 12:00 am, free time until I pass out from exhaustion

Wash, rinse, repeat, 6 days a week

Receive paycheck, Pay CC Bill and gas, deposit remaining money in parental units hand. Watch money disappear sadly.

I totally understand how you feel tho. Even after you finish a brutal day of slave-driving work, there is more work at home. There is no time for a life! Ya know. I was just telling my pastry chef about how life in North America is balls. Everyone has forgotten how to live...how to be human even. He's from the Philippines, right, and he's like there is rich people there and then there is the poor. That even when his people go through a typhoon that they still get up and put a smile on their faces. He's telling me how everyone in Canada (cause he's only been here for 6 months) works so much and so long. I scoffed and said, "You're right, and just because those people are poor doesn't mean they are unhappy--they are probably happier than we are!"

Well, that statement probably didn't help you feel better XD

But maybe it will encourage you to find something better that does, at least, make you happier.

You wanna hear something stupid? I've been working at my job for a year and a half with no raise. I don't get benefits, and they steal my vacation pay if I don't use it in the year. I find out this new girl in my dept is making a dollar more than me! So I went to my Chef and asked for my raise. He's like sure, talk to me next week! Then a couple nights later...he's given me shit for not putting out enough desserts out on the buffet table...just ranting a me with his face all red and stuff...I tell him that we have loads of extra desserts just waiting to go out there and that we'll replenish the empty platters...that the buffet table with NOT go empty. He huffs and says it better not and that I should watch myself and my actions considering I just asked for my raise/review!

So he threw my WELL deserved request for a raise in my face and insinuated that I'm lagging on my job.

This being a person that never calls in sick, is never late, works her ASS off...and that was the thanks I got. Pretty nice, huh? I was really pissed. And now I have to hound the man for my raise OR maybe even I need to find a new job...

Bottom line...don't let anyone take advantage of you hun. I need to get better at this myself XD

Sorry I guess this turned into a little rant of my own. I'm just so sick of of jerkoffs who don't give a shit about their employee's and treat us like dogs.

I've always believed the money you make doesn't make you happy. My dad has struggled with money all my life and he's a much happier person than my mother who has a 6 figure job. So I firmly believe you can be happy and poor,I just wish I had the guts/balls to tell my managers to lay off. I can't keep doing all this work on my own...

And that sucks man. Your boss shouldn't have done that. He sounds like he's just looking for reasons not to give you a raise.

Man is that true! People with tons of loot aren't always happy...they just seem to live more comfortable lives I guess. Meaning they have everything at their service.

I'm happy if I make enough to live happily, pay my bills etc. But it's important to me to have a life too. Bosses never seem to get this..cause they are the slave drivers I know this is not all bosses, but most seem to be workaholics. And that's fine for them, but not for me.

Maybe you should say to the manager that you need another person. That the workload is too much. OR that the place is getting so much more busy and that maybe another worker might be a good idea. Boost their ego first then ask for an extra hand lol!

And yes getting a raise at my work is like pulling teeth...everyone there that I know has told me the drill. Cheap bastards *grumbles*
