I have always liked Melissa Gilbert. I watched nearly every LHOTP episode and watched every movie she has ever played in.

I understand wanting to prove that you can act and portray more than just the good little girl, daughter, wife as shown in LHOTP and other movies/shows but I was SHOCKED by the character Meilssa portrayed in the NIP TUCK episode.

In it, her character was a woman who not only cheated on her husband, but it was with her DOG! She would keep a jar of peanut butter beside the bed to smear on herself and her privates to make her dog lick it off and to have SEX with her DOG. ever heard of BEASTIALITY????

I would have been able to handle a character like Brooke Shields played (the psyco slut) or she could have even cheated on her husband with another woman or 5 womean for all I cared, It wasn't the "wildness" of the character......it was the BEASTIALITY I was appalled at.

It makes it very hard for me to watch the new movie she has coming out about the father w/Alzheimers (or any new movies in the future) when I have that vision in mind of her having sex with her dog.

In the end of the episode, her husband finds the peanut butter by the bed and knows she's been screwing the dog again and shoots her dog and throws the dead body of the dog on her at the plastic surgeons office.

I think you could have asked for a different character to portray because this one was just TOO MUCH. I would think she would have had a little respect for herself to say no to something that vulgar and repulsive and insist on a different storyline for the character.

Thanks for letting me vent! angry.gif

We are happy to allow you to vent, but I think Melissa answers this herself well enough in a message on the official site well before airing of the show.
As much as we might all sometimes find a role being played as appalling, overly graphic or perhaps beyond reason ultimately actors are simply doing a job and that doesn't necessarily mean they condone a characters behaviour.

QUOTE
It is called Shari Noble and I play Shari Noble. Now a warning; Nip/Tuck is not Little House on the Prairie ! I would highly suggest that you not gather the little ones around the TV for this one. If you have seen the show, you know why. It is a very adult oriented show with strong adult content and very graphic depiction's of medical procedures. If this is not your thing then don't watch. I would also like to remind all of you that I am actress. It's what I do for a living and as an actress I play all kinds of different people in all kinds of situations.

I as a fan I will always stand by Melissa no matter what character she plays. While I dont agree with doing this in reality personally people have to understand that this is just a character being played by a very talented actress and it is her free choice. I commend her for going out and doing something very different. I believe in open mindedness. cool.gif
