was supposed to be released on july first, but i received my copy today in the mail from amazon.ca, I find it amusing that the author Philip Carlo lived beside casso in the 70's in Bensonhurst and casso became very close friends with his family taking them out to Carmine Persicos farm and boat rides, restaurants,. So far in the book Casso makes him self out to be a kind man and a family man, he desrcibes murder as "just bussiness" and allso claims he sold alot of narcotics to the DeMeo crew, sammy gravano, and Gene Gotti. Gaspipe allso comments on the murder of Jimmy Hydell adn how he shot his penis and it exploded, gaspipe is a sick fuck I must say.

im nearly finished 5 families-Salwyn Raab and am looking at this book or the Gravano one for my next read. the only reason im a little hesitant is because i get the impression it won't be written the way it should be. especially with Gravano, no doubt the author has sweetened him up and tried to make him look less guilty same with the Casso book.

can anyone whos read this really recommend it? i'd be in it just to add it to my collection and for the content but if its not well written (high expectations as ive read Saviano and Raab written books) then i might just pass.

True crime author Philip Carlo dies aged 61
The New York Post
Nov 10, 2010

Tributes are pouring in for true-crime author Philip Carlo, who died on Monday at 61 after a five-year battle with ALS, or Lou Gehrig's Disease.

Carlo wrote about mass murderers in books including "The Night Stalker: The Life and Crimes of Richard Ramirez" and "The Ice Man: Confessions of a Mafia Contract Killer," about Richard Kuklinski.

Mickey Rourke, the lead in the upcoming "Ice Man" movie, told us, "I was friends with Phil for 30 years. I never met someone who suffered so much and who refused to quit."

The disease left Carlo paralyzed, and last year he developed cancer. His publicist, James Sliman, said, "Phil fought it head-on and was writing right up to the very end."

His agent, Matt Bialer, added, "I never saw anyone with such fight . . . Phil couldn't even lift a spoon, but he managed to keep writing." Carlo's friends include Robert De Niro, Joe Pesci, Danny Aiello, Paul Sorvino, Joe Cortese, Christopher Walken, John Ciarcia, Vincent Pastore and Nicholas Pileggi.

A funeral will be held in Brooklyn this week. He leaves behind his wife, Laura.
