I remember following the Mafia stories in the early 80s. I was young and lived near Philadelphia and had a girlfriend that lived on Tasker Street in south Philadelphia. The 1978 to 1989 period was full of Mob killings all over the world. The Slaughterhouse Slaughter of 84 was in the news as was all the killings in Philadelphia, Atlantic City, south Jersey areas. We had Nicky Scarfo and Harry Hunchback going at it. Bruno was killed. One half assed hit man killed the wrong family in Jersey in 84. He got the wrong address. My girlfriend found a stinky oil drum behind her workplace that later contained a Scarfo victim. My father's pistol that was stolen in the 70s was used to kill a gentleman in Atlantic City. My late father had to be investigated by State Police after that. My father was not involved by the way, the gun was duly reported stolen in the 70s.
The 1978 to 1986 period seemed to be a major Mafia war in the US, Corsica, Turkey, and Italy. I was a fan of conspiracy theories and I was reading about P2 and Gladio at the time. I had followed the weird Papal plot with the Turkish-Bulgaria-Mafia connection. I was told about P2 in 1982, by an older friend who was Corsican. By the way, was not Salvatore Riina connected with Licio Gelli. Remember, the 1978-1986 Mob war was at the same time as Aldo Moro, terrorism, and Papal crises.
