Biker gang murder trial begins and adjourns amid further clashes

The trial of two Hells Angels members, accused of killing a member of the "Outlaws" in July, was adjourned on Tuesday an hour after getting underway. Outside the courthouse, members of the two gangs clashed.

Before even the charges were read in the court in the southwestern city of Kaiserslautern on Tuesday, the murder trial involving two members of the motorcycle gang Hells Angels was brought to a temporary close.

A defense attorney for one of the accused submitted a request to have one of the presiding judges replaced, objecting to what the attorney called the judge's "incompetency."

The proceedings are now postponed until January 7, at which point the other presiding judges will decide on who will hear the case.

Before the proceedings were adjourned, the two accused, aged 42 and 29, sat in the court room separated from spectators by bullet-proof glass.

The 29-year-old defendant was wearing a red hooded sweatshirt, symbolic of his allegiance to the Hells Angels, whose official colors are red and white.

The 42-year-old defendant, meanwhile, was wearing a black jacket, a sign that some have speculated may mean that he is no longer part of the gang. After the murder of the Outlaw member in July, the 42-year-old man turned himself into the police and has been living in witness protection ever since.

A third Hells Angels member accused of being involved in the murder remains at large.

Police looking to prevent 'blood feud'

Outside the courtroom on Tuesday, over 1,000 Hells Angels and Outlaws gathered in support of the defendants. According to reports, some members managed to break through barriers set up by police to keep the two rival gangs apart.

In the clashes that ensued, reports say pieces of concrete were thrown, injuring one officer and damaging several cars.

Hundreds of police officers were present in and outside the courtroom in an attempt to prevent violence between the two gangs.

The prosecution alleges that the July offense was a rivalry killing, which came in response to the 42-year-old defendant being beaten by Outlaw members just days before.

The prosecution argues that the 42-year-old man, together with his other two accomplices, sought out the member who conducted the beating at a nearby Outlaw hangout and pursued him after he left the establishment.

The three men, in a car, then allegedly passed the 45-year-old victim, on motorcycle, and forced him to a stop on a country road outside of the village of Stetten, near Kaiserslautern. The prosecution accuses the Hells Angels of then beating and stabbing the Outlaw member who died hours later in a nearby hospital.

Across Germany, violent incidents involving the Hells Angels are becoming more frequent.

Last month, in the western Ruhr Valley region, a series of clashes between Hells Angels and the "Bandidos," another American-based biker gang, caused the German police association to call for both groups to be banned permanently in Germany.

According to German authorities, there are several thousand members of such motorcycle gangs in the country, the most of which belong to the Hells Angels.

it is better that question not to be answered, here in germany the goverment is looking for exscuses to ban the bandidos club, while they , the goverment is doing nothing against the angels, which is typical because here the angels and govermenrt are in bed together, the bandidos have not wanted war, but the goverment and angels keep pushing them to it by killing bandidos, and of course now they go after the outlaws, maybe soon, it may just be that the angels het some of thier own shit back at them.

this is typical propoganda by the press and the gestapo police, the goverment is not after the angels, they are sleeping with them, this is the angels way of trying to use the goverment to ban all clubs but the angels, i know i live here in germany and have see first hand just what type of bullshit the angels are pulling against other clubs, and i know for a fact, the angels killed first, yet the goverment is doing nothing, but what the hell the goverment and the angels are all the same, the angels are no one percenters, they are only an instruement of the goverment in germany, as well as holland. the only true one percenters here are the bandidos and outlaws and they re the targets.

It might be possible for the HA to corrupt the government, some of its politicians. Or, as happened here, for them to go free because of their oath of silence and a very weak prosecutor. But they are no instrument of the government. The police and army are the 'muscle' of the government. They do not need a bunch of bikers.

they corrupt the goverment here believe me, they get away with what they want and the angels are also killing off other clubs with the goverment standing by either too afraid to act or too corrupt to act, but for a fact here in germany the angels and goverment are side by side, seen it, and been a victim of it.

How are the German Hells Angels and government side by side? Give us an example. From what I have read two German states have outlawed the HA chapters there. That does not sound like working side by side.

the examples are for anyone living here to see, first off, the angels operate almost all their dirty businesses in public, the angels can assualt a cop on live tv and do no time, the angels have killed more rivals in germany than other clubs and hardly no convictions, other than one or two, you have to live here and see daily what is happening, you think they outlaw the colors in a couple states, yet the angels are still there and do wear their colors, donīt believe all in the press,

German HA assaulted a cop on live tv?? I remember seeing HA who were working as bouncers at a club during World Cup 2006 get arrested during riots between English and German fans. I find it hard to believe they would get away with assaulting a cop.

And HA always operate out in the open. The world over. Their colors are their pride. A lot of them get caught and convicted though. Just like the HA in this article. But another thing to consider is that these MCs are not criminal organizations at their core. Its members might be involved in criminal activities, but it is not like a Mafia group. Therefore it is difficult to prosecute them as such.

Two Hell's Angels jailed in Germany for fatal assault

May 4, 2010, 13:34 GMT

Berlin - Two Hell's Angels gang members were jailed Tuesday by a German court for an attack on the leader of a rival motorcycle gang during a struggle for control of gang zones.

One, aged 29, was given 90 months for assault leading to death. The other, aged 43, was convicted as an accessory and given 48 months after he gave evidence for the prosecution.

A third assailant, who wielded the knife in the stabbing attack last June, was never caught.

The court said the trio stopped the 45-year-old chapter leader of the rival gang, the Outlaws, on an open road to 'rough him up' and 'overdid it.' This was not murder in the legal sense.

Prosecutors said they would appeal and seek a murder conviction.

The Hell's Angels regarded the Outlaws as an encroacher on their turf near the city of Kaiserslautern. Supporters from the two feuding gangs were kept apart by a riot-police cordon during each day of the court hearings.

Both gangs were established in the United States decades ago and spread to Germany.
