CARLTON identity Mick Gatto had one of his proudest moments at son Damien's wedding at St Mary's Star of the Sea Church in West Melbourne on Saturday. But the Catholic church has also been home to grimmer times. Less than five years ago, Mr Gatto was there for the funeral of gangland figure Jason Moran. It's a church popular with Melbourne's underworld: the service for standover man Alphonse Gangitano -- believed to have been killed by Jason -- was also held there in 1998. During the 1960s, funeral services for three crime leaders were held at St Mary's. But the past was put aside at the weekend wedding of Mr Gatto Jr and Fiona Scali. Mr Gatto Sr was left holding the baby -- 15-week-old grandson Dominic and bragged he would be "the next heir".   -------------------- Ciao
