After my last post, I've seen some stories on CNN of how some of the earthquake/tsunami victims are helping each other feel better and be positive. Better to be an optimist.

This is what Japan is about you know, they arent a bunch of thugs like in New orleans after katrina. So many people lost their homes so the only thing they can do is help each other until they finally have new homes of their own.

Wow Oda, I simply don't know how to deal with you sometimes. You know a lot of people I know went to Katrina to do what they could to help out. My manager went for a week to help clean up efforts and to help people recover what they could. You are so anti-anything-other-than-Japan that you... never mind. I will never get through to you, I do know this. However I am not a barbarian, people I know aren't barbarians. I do not take advantage of people who are experiencing hardships, and I do what I can to help. Can you say better of yourself?

I think you really should start thinking about how what you are saying comes across. I know you have better intentions than it sounds, because NO ONE could be as big a jerk as you sometimes sound. Its just a good thing this site is full of people that actually like you most of the time. rolleyes.gif

Hmm...Japan (generalized) aren't thugs like people in New Orleans (generalized) after Katrina. Pretty broad damn brush strokes you're using there. Try a little harder to either remember what you've said, or think a little harder before you say it.

Now, of course we remember that New Orleans is a particularly low-income and poverty stricken area of the US. A poor area, in which people are well aware that they're poor because in the United States we've traditionally been very open with our income and poverty statistics. So, these people know they're poor and everyone around them knows they're poor too.

In Japan, on the other hand, the government kept it's poverty statistics secret from about 1998 until 2009, and kept reinforcing the idea that they lived in a completely egalitarian society. In this case, there are still a lot of Japanese people that cling to the continually reinforced myth that Japan is uniformly middle class. Now, in the areas most stricken by the disasters there, I'm not sure what the economic breakdown is. But overall, you've got a lot of poor people that maybe aren't even aware that they're poor and if they do, are trying to hide the fact that they're poor.

Besides, what are the Japanese gonna loot? All the electronics have been ruined underwater. It's hard to make off with a giant robot. The tentacle rape comics got ruined with water damage. Should they break into the panty-vending machines?

Now, who's generalizing? I said there were a bunch of thugs in New Orleans AND I said that not everyone there was like that (both facts). However, you think all Japanese look at tenticle rape comics or panty vending machines? I have never ONCE seen these panty vending machines ANYWHERE. I have traveled quite extensively around here.

I like how you ignored all the legitimate points in the post and went right for the obviously baited, joke statement at the end, like you think you're actually making a point or something. laugh.gif

All you did was prove my point. You don't like false, generalized statements about Japan. We don't like your false, generalized statements about America. So knock it off.

You didn't rectify yourself and say "not everyone in New Orleans was a thug" until after Kitty called you out on touting more of your "Jpn rox, Amerikkka sux" bullshit.

We're not stupid, Oda. This has been the same old song and dance here since the place started. Either be mindful of the things you're posting, or expect to be called out on it because everyone finds the constant America bashing really fucking annoying. It's that simple.

If you dont like it, dont post in my thread. I dont care if what I say hurts your feelings especially because of your overall "I'm smarter than you" crap when you have never been to Japan. Until you have lived over here as long as I have with the same level of understnading of the language, your opinions have ZERO validity. Therefore, STFU and GTFO of my thread.

It's called The Internet, Oda. Learn a little bit about it. Like how if you say something stupid, you're going to get your ass handed to you on it.

How long have you lived in Japan? Guess what, doesn't fucking matter. Because while you've been busy with your "sexy models" in Japan, the rest of us have been over in America. So based on your own asinine assertion that living in Japan makes you some sort of expert on that country, then you can kindly pipe down about America, since the fact that you no longer live here clearly makes you out of touch with life here. So your opinions have ZERO validity. In fact, while you were previously bitching about how bad Katrina was, were you even still living in America when Katrina hit? wink.gif

If you don't like it, STFU and GTFO the internet.

BTW, thanks for making our arguments for us, expressly showing that you actually don't know jack shit about what goes on in America before bashing it. Hypocrite.

Wow Oda, I can't make a single remark about Japan even if I'm making a neutral remark because "I have never lived there" but you can make nasty comments about America? You really don't want me to be here or to like you, do you? I don't have to have lived in Japan to know that everything isn't perfect over there, much as you say it is. I can take your own quotes as proof even. What is it about train rides and being afraid to even look in a girl's direction, was it because she would be afraid of being tentacle raped by any guy that glances at her?

I've always bitched about lots of things over here. My current bitch is how the government has been hiding how serious the radiation leaks have been and how much they downplayed the severity of the power plant issue. I was just bitching today about how there is a leadership vacuum over here since the earthquake. The PM has been AFK for too goddamn long.

I have always bitched about girls on trians and I ALWAYS bitch about Japanese housewives. I fucking hate them. BUt no one has ever brought up "what do you hate about Japan" so I have never posted anything here about it.

And to review why this became ANY sort of relevance: Hombre, acting like a typical American, praised how many lives dropping the atomic bombs saved and blah blah blah. My grandfather and I got into huge debates about this as well, and he's a war veteran so dont think Hombre is the first or last person I've argued with about this subject. Anyway, Hombre refused to acknowledge any sort of understanding from the perspective of the Japanese CITIZEN, he could only talk about the military. So, because I tried to celebrate the anniversary of the atomic bomb drops by saying America was wrong for using them, I was immediately deemed a war criminal for supporting the INNOCENT victims of that tragedy. Yet no one even considers the fact that both Hiroshima and Nagasaki were full of innocent victims; only "viable targets."

As for your position, I would only accept a friendly discussion about Japan and such with YOU because at least you have the ability to listen to other people's views and understand where they are coming from. That comment I made was made DIRECTLY at Hombre, due to his narcissism. I didnt mean to include you, Ceielo or some of the more level headed people here.

Then please listen to me when I say don't post about how much America and American's are fucked up. I do take offense at it when you broadband it like that. You can compare, or even bring up some of the bad things and I don't mind. But broad based negative comments are an issue.

I have to say though, those people who made comments about the disaster in Japan being karma for the bombing of Pearl Harbor are just being stupid imo.

And yet the troll's thread is fine. Hmm.

Edit: Yeah its gone now, but still it was quite disturbing to see a negative post about regular users while something honestly bad, not just personally irritating, was being basically ignored.

It was a pretty nasty thread about some guy who had sex with his sister or something. Included pics of said 'sister'. I'm thinking it was more of an advertisement for a sex site. I didn't find it funny, though I could see how you jaded tweenagers could. Nothing is really out of bounds anymore.
