Title: RIP WoW
Description: The real killer is coming!

CrimsonSkull - August 12, 2010 05:15 AM (GMT)
Theres been a lot of games dubbed "The WoW killer" and all of them have fallen short. Only a few have managed to gain momentum against the MMO giant. The latest AION fell extremely short and while numbers where high after release its fallen back in the pack. WoW continues to dominate as the most played followed by Runescape. Surprisingly DDO (Dungeons and Dragons Online) has grabbed the third ranked spot in only a few months after becoming a free to play game. WoW's biggest rival however, was Guild Wars, nothing came as close and it still ranks the 4th most played MMO. WoW is losing numbers at a steady rate as more and more MMO games present themselves to give players an alternative.

The only game that stands a chance to at toppling the giant is Guild Wars 2. Believe it! The most anticipated MMO awaiting release.

I would play that game!

As much as they're building it up, it better not disappoint.

It will disappoint only because people hype certain games too much and the hype never matches the actual product. Case in point: FF7.

Disappointment is in the eye of the beholder. What disappoints one doesn't necessarily disappoint another. I don't by into hype anyway. I'm going off what it is said to feature thus far, not how well those features are hyped up to be. Cause no one knows how its going to be implemented truly until they have played it. Then you are your own personal judge on whether or not the product lives up to your expectations.

But if you base your opinions on other peoples feelings toward something then hey, have fun with that.

I'll admit, it does look pretty sweet. I never played the first one, but this one might make a believer out of me

Meh, tell me when The Old Republic goes into beta.

Also, they're making the exact same claims that everyone else has made for the last half decade. "We'll have a branching storyline!" "We're going to change how combat works!" "We're going to end the grind!" Well, aside from Bioware and The Old Republic with the branching storyline bit, no one has shown proof that they really ARE changing things.

Old Republic looks good too. But I'm afraid for it, I have a feeling it will suffer from the same things that killed Age of Conan and War Hammer.

Have you ever played the first Guild Wars? Its pretty different from all the other MMOs and WoW clones. It stands on its own as a unique experience just limited for its time. More reason I have faith in the sequel.
