Leiliien entered the clearing and breathed deeply. It was as magical as ever. Memories of her foster family bringing her here flooded her mind, but she didn't let her joy show on her face.

She quickly looked around to make sure that Ellendea was empty, then cast of her traveller's pack and knelt down in the middle of clearing. She prayed silently to the four goddesses.

Suddenly she heard a twig snap. She sat up quickly, wondering who or what had made the sound.

Arikae cringed. She hadn't meant to step on the twig. She was normally able to sneak up on people easily. She'd learned it from her two older brothers. They'd always snuck up on her.

She remained in the trees. She wasn't sure she could trust the girl. She looked to be an elf but you never know. Arikae continued to watch the girl. She wanted to observe her until she knew she could come out.

She wasn't normally this cautions. She would normally just have walked right up to the girl and introduced herself but for some reason she didn't.

Leiliien slowly got to her feet and looked around warily. She knew that Ellendea was a safe place, but if some Albae had stumbled upon it it could mean trouble.

A cloud moved and the sunlight shifted, throwing light onto a lock of reddish hair in the trees.

Leiliien relaxed a little. Probably not Albae then.

Leiliien might have been an ice princess, but she was no one to refuse company when it was offered. Besides, she wanted to know who was spying on her. She advanced slowly towards where the person was hidden.

"I can see you," she called out in a strong voice. "I won't hurt you if you come out."

Arikae swore to herself and stepped out of the trees.

"Sorry didn't mean to startle you. I was just exploring and saw you. I wasn't sure what you were doing so I watched you," Arikae explained.

She felt she needed to explain why she was in the woods.

"I'm Arikae, you are?" Arikae held out her hand. She waited for a return gesture.

Leiliien considered the hand with distaste, but finally shook it.

"Leiliien," she said by way of answer to the girl's question.

There was an awkward silence. She wasn't about to invite the girl to join her in her prayers, after all.

OOC: I'm just being so mean because it's part of her character, but my idea isn't to drive others away, so could you please persist with her? My idea was for someone to get to know 'the real Leiliien' so that she actually had a friend. Just to clarify and stuff. smile.gif

Arikae stood there staring at Leiliien. She wasn't real sure what to do. No one had ever made her feel intimidated like this before but she wasn't about to let that stop her from getting to know Leiliien.

She seemed lonely, even if she was trying to hide it. Arikae could see right through her act.

"So what were you doing?" Arikae asked.

OCC: I understand. Yeah I'll keep going with her. Like I said I'm up for a challenge. LOL Also I'm sorry it's been a while. I've been having trouble with my internet access for a couple of days. Hopefully I'll get it fixed soon. I should be back soon. Sorry for the wait.

OOC: That's fine, I can understand that. wink.gif And thanks for going along with this. My next idea is for Arikae to get her drunk so that she's more open. laugh.gif

"Praying," Leiliien said shortly.

"So whereabouts do you come from? Are you a wanderer?"

OOC: laugh.gif Arikae's not a very funny drunk. Her brother's got her drunk all the time. It doesn't really affect her. laugh.gif

"I'm from Linwynne, well I was born there but I've lived all over. So I guess you could say I'm a wanderer in some sort," Arikae answered. "What about you?"

OOC: I have a feeling Leiliien might be interesting when intoxicated though...

"Wanderer," Leiliien replied. She pointed to her ears. "Like my parents."

OCC: LOL Arikae might be interesting intoxicated too. She hasn't drank in a while.

"Oh hey you're an elf too. I am too," Arikae said. "Well...half, my mother was a human, my father an elf. That would be why I was born in Linwynne. So...why were you praying?"

Leiliien rolled her eyes.

"The same reason anyone does. To show respect for the gods. To ask for something I suppose. You're part human: Tell me, is it common in your culture to ask strangers personal questions?"

OOC: laugh.gif Okay, well why don't we make them camp together and someone can whip out a bottle of strong spirits...

"Of course it is. That's how you get to know people," Arikae said with a shrug and a small laugh.

She looked around. The sky was starting to turn a dark shade of blue.

"It's getting late, we should probably find someplace to say for the night. Don't you think?"

OCC: I'm still having trouble with my internet access. We just got new computer and we're still trying to figure out a few things. I'm not even on my computer right now. So hopefully I'll get it fixed this week. *crosses fingers*

Leiliien almost laughed. You think I'm going to camp out with you?

But then she softened a little. Arikae was just trying to be friendly. Still, that wasn't going to stop her from being difficult.

"Here is fine with me," she said, sitting down on the soft grass. "I suppose you can join me if you wish." Then, to give the girl some time to think, she stood up again and started gathering sticks for a small fire.

Arikae watched her for a moment. She shrugged to herself and started to gather sticks along with Leiliien.

After a short moment Arikae had a bundle of twigs. She set the pile down on the grass and sat down next to the bundle. She sat there waiting for Leiliien to finish gathering her bundle of sticks.

Leiliien brought her sticks into a corner, then went and gathered Arikae's too. She took a flint out of her bag and struck another rock against it. It made a large spark, igniting one of the sticks, which was dry and began to burn up. She scrabbled around for rocks to line the fire and arranged them around the sticks, which were burning one by one. A small pile of dry leaves and the fire was blazing nicely.

"Come over, it's nice and warm," she called out. She was starting to feel hungry.

OOC: Sorry if that's a really inaccurate description of how to make a fire lol, I actually have no idea.
