Well, aside from the usual brand name software (Roxio and Nero) that have good packages, you can find a lot of other software like that on torrent sites like torrentspy.com (when it's working) but otherwise it depends on what kind of DVD burning you're talking about and whether I can find anything lol

It all depends on the routes you want to take. (Pretty much where you're starting from to where you want to end and on what type of DVD you are burning to.)

well, I'm starting with a .mkv file and I want to put it on a CD-R, but not as a data disc, a dvd. I can take whatever routes are necessary, but I was under the impression that there are programs out there that do it for you and I was asking for suggestions on what they would be. But if there isn't a good one, could you tell me how else to do it? (if anyone knows)
Also.....I had Nero, but it mysteriously disappeared on my computer....like a few other programs.....*kicks computer*

I use Roxio and I have to burn DVDs because my CD burner doesn't work. *copies you- kicking computer ^__^* My it's a pretty simple process. It just takes half an hour or so to finish. If you want to make ones that are recordable for a DVD player, then those take a longer time. If you want to know how to record, it's basically the same as burning CDs. If you can find a DVD recording software then those are really easy to manuver around and figure out how it works. =]

first I would try and get a hold of a good .mkv to the compressed format for dvd code (sorry, I forgot the exact .coding) converter.

Me and Kanamechan already had this convo, you have so have the codec to use a re-encoder to do it then use a DVD burning program for DVD-Videos, or VirtualDubMod can open the Mkv and resave it as an avi, although I haven't had much luck with it.
