Although I'm sure my opinion means little to Hasaki I'm going to try and do my best to convince him and anyone else that the Metal Gear Solid series is a must have for not only gamers but people with any interest in cinematic, philosophical, and story masterpieces, or at the very least for it to get his attention.

I can't mention Metal Gear without mentioning the creator, writter, and director of it, Hideo Kojima. Here's just a little quote from Wikipedia about him:

"His trademark style is to address and approach a multitude of important, large issues and aspects of human life in a philosophical, verbose (some would argue heavy-handed) fashion. He also is sometimes interpreted as one of the few postmodern game designers; the Metal Gear series contains magical realism and often breaks the fourth wall. His love of movies is also noticeable in his games, where he pays homage through his stories and characters, often to the point of pastiche."

You can find more about him here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hideo_Kojima

The Metal Gear Solid series to me is probably second only to Final Fantasy in a few aspects but not enough for me to say I wouldn't call it arguably my favorite video game series, most credibly in my opinion for the stunning ending of Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty which I think above anything else truely displays the value of freedom. I'd recommend this one (Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty) above all of the others in the current Metal Gear Solid Trilogy if you had to play just one but it's best to go in order with the story and for dramatic impact.

If there's anything else I can do to get your attention or increase your avalibility of this video game series, Hasaki, just let me know.

Dude, I used to watch my ex play this all the time. Its a good series. We have the one for the Gamecube but my ex had the PS2 versions. They're both generally the same but I think the PS2 version storyline is a bit different. But yeah, its a really good game series. Even though I've never played it myself, I would recommend it too. smile.gif

You're reffering to the remake of the original Metal Gear Solid so just to clarify here is a list of every Metal Gear game, also provided by wikipedia with a bit of additional info from me.

Main Games

* Metal Gear (MSX2/Famicom/NES/C64/PC/Mobile Phone, 1987)

- Original Metal Gear, still not avaliable in US except for a very poorly translated NES version ("I feel asleep" as a good example), an offical US version will be in the MGS3 Subsistence version (finally)

* Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake (MSX2/Mobile Phone, 1990)

- Sequal to original, Never released in USA at all, also will be in the MGS3 Subsistence version

* Metal Gear Solid (PlayStation/PC, 1998)
* Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty (PlayStation 2, 2001)
* Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater (PlayStation 2, 2004)
* Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots (PlayStation 3, TBA)
* Metal Gear Solid PSP (working title) (PlayStation Portable, TBA)

Supplemental editions and remakes

* Metal Gear Solid: Integral (PlayStation, 1999)
* Metal Gear Solid: VR Missions (PlayStation, 1999)
* Metal Gear Solid 2: Substance (Xbox/PlayStation 2/PC, 2002)
* Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes (GameCube, 2004)

- Unlike the other remakes which just include extra features and misc extra gameplay, this is the graphically updated version of the original Metal Gear Solid with a few key differences, all cutscene direction is redone by a famous Japanese director whose name I always forget, get was the director who apparently first did bullet time, it removes the feel of the original cutscenes but adds a bit for fans, and all of the voice acting in the dub version is redone with the same voice actors and sadly I think the redone voice acting is still worse then the original. Overall I think if you can stand the worse graphics I prefer the original. Kojima-san was not involved with this one at all aside from allowing the liscense to be used.

* Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence (PlayStation 2, 2005)

Non-canonical sequels and spinoffs

* Snake's Revenge (NES, 1990)

- The unofficial poorly mad sequal to the original metal gear, not designed by Kojima-san, not an official part of the Metal Gear Storyline

* Metal Gear: Ghost Babel (Game Boy Color, 2000)

- Alternate reality storyline used, I don't even know if Kojima-san was involved in the making but I hear good things about it.

* Metal Gear Acid (PlayStation Portable, 2004)

- Poorly made try of using the Metal Gear name for a PSP game, also not designed by Kojima-san although for some reason he produced it.

* Metal Gear Acid 2 (PlayStation Portable, 2005)
