Bleh.
[ic]
He'd had enough. Roma was in a comatose state somewhere beneath his living facility and she wasn't a reliable friend. She was just as unstable as he was, making the two of them a very bad combination. One moment, he'd been fine, they'd all been fine. The next, Roma'd forgotten everything and had taken on a different personality, Reura or someone. It was as if she was haunted by everything and nothing all at the same time. She'd been cursed before she'd come here... Now it seemed as if everything was folding over on top of her. He couldn't do anything right... She couldn't get out of the quicksand that was pulling her under...
Hell. He didn't even know if she would wake up. Reura wasn't too keen on revealing much, but if Roma wasn't going to wake up, Yaz needed someone who was more steady on their feet. Sure, he knew some of the people around here. Whether he wanted to know them was a different story, but they still weren't always there. They weren't always popping up when he least expected it and they were always doing something he didn't care for. What he needed was someone he could relate to, who was an elemental. Who he needed was Rae.
Ever since the dream he'd had, it had all been so much clearer. His mother had been in taboo for far too long. Rae'd only been there a while and she was losing herself, forgetting who she was. It was amazing to see his mother there, but saddening all at the same time. He'd never really known the woman, but she looked so much like his sister. Rae didn't belong there. She belonged in Fell. It was only fair. He'd gotten a second chance, why couldn't she have one too? Why was it that he was the one in Fell, when she was the one who deserved to still be around? It didn't make sense.
Yaz shuffled down to the practice rooms, setting in his mind the image of what he needed to bring back his sister. Nothing drastic, just a few simple things that would collect her spirit and give it a tie to Fell. He needed himself, which he had. He needed something of hers or something that represented her, like the bo staff she'd grown so fond of. Then he'd need an area wide enough to be used. Thankfully, the room provided all of this, or rather, he though of what he needed and it was there. The bo staff in the corner, the open floor... It was all in place.
Summoning his switchblade, he held out his arm, running a clear cut from the base of his arm until almost his elbow, avoiding any major veins. His blood would help to resemble her in more ways than he knew. Calling over the staff, he drowned it in his blood, running a thin trail of the mess down the lenght of the staff, then proped it up against a wall to dry. Now he'd summon something he never wanted to see again, the crescent moon charm Tsai'd given him, and the matching blazing sun charm he'd given to Rae. His own charm had driven him to the point of madness on several occasions, but he felt as if he needed them now. Slidding them onto the same cord, he was providing her a bond with himself who was on Fell, like a beacon for the Fell's magic to call out for her.
Now he would try something he'd sceen Jessi do to call forth images of those who had passed on. Using what blood was still seeping from his wound, he drew a crude crescent moon on the ground, overlapping it with the same design from the necklace, the blazing sun that served purpose for Rae. The mark would hopefully bleed into the floor below and serve as a lighthouse for her soul. Then he called for the bo staff, letting it rest in a whole which had appeared in the center of the drawing of blood. It fit perfectly and stood upright.
Yaz backed off, standing a few paces away from the mess of it all before summoning fire to the staff. Starting at the top, it would burn at the polished wood and like a candle it melt down until he'd force to to light up the mark of blood which would be the final calling. All he had to do know was wait. Wait for the staff to burn and wait for his arm to heal. Maybe he had cut it in the wrong direction... Maybe he had peirced something vital...
Leaning up against the wall, he willed the flames to move faster, but they continued at their own pace. Lovely. He'd be waiting here for hours, something he didn't have the time or the energy for. Getting impatient, he tossed the necklace with the two charms around the burning staff. The chain caught, falling around the staff and hitting the ground with a sound that rang out over the cackling flames. Those metal charms wouldn't burn, and chances were that they wouldn't melt either. The fire probably wasn't hot enough to do something like that.
So now he was waiting while the smoke filled up the closed room. Yaz pulled the front of his shirt up over his nose, squinting as the smoke changed from a sooty gray to a light purple. It was wierd... He was starting to see things in the smoke, flickers of Rae, images of both her and himself. He didn't want to see just images... I wanted her to come to Fell. One way or another she would come to Fell. She had too.

((Bleh to you too... I don't have the heart to get all sappy on you, nor do I wish to make up a million paragraphs explaining what was going on through her head for less than a month... I'm just going to let my fingers type it all out and then that is it.))
It was on the edge of a knife this time, the problem, the issue that Roma had been evading. Roma couldn't, didn't know how to understand what was going on. Her life, this life she had to live through. And the duel sides of a relationship, the good and bad that could rip it all apart and tear down the walls. She was falling and there was no one to blame the mess on, no one at all. Save one. One person who ruined it all for her. But who, who was that individual that rode on her naked memory and mind. Roma didn't know, nor did she care. Death was welcoming her in with open arms, finally letting her stay there. There. It was what she wanted wasn't it? All those times Roma faked it. All the times she'd look out into space and wish for it. The single moment that would take her away from her life, her friends and family... The people who did everything in their power to give her this existence.
And if only it was that simple. Picking between two things. A 50/50 chance. Both choices could be the right answer. Both a different adventure. And it was her life, her power and magic that spilled into the world and stretched across the times of many beings. All of them who never had this chance, to never come back, never face the light. Because no one was awarded that chance, but Roma had earned it this time. She had earned what Reura and all the rest had ever wanted, mortality. No, if only it were that simple. If only it weren't just her life to watch after now. But Roma had to decided on what she wanted. What she needed. What her friends and her family deserved. 'Cause it was Roma now, just Roma. Flying solo in the sky. A free expanse that could still be explored and reckoned with. Her home away from home. The lands that she had been walking for so many years now. And now just to decide if it were really eighteen or two thousand years.
Since the beginning of time all Roma knew how to do was look after herself. Or get herself into bigger messes. Or not help those around her. Those who needed aid more than she did. The guilt now, that rose up through her. She needed, to help those around her. She needed to give back to those who gave. Not for her sake, but for their sake. It was one more risk, one more risk that was not very risky, but just a feat that could be hard to overcome. One more risk that would take more than a minute to be completed. It couldn't be that bad, just a few more years. A few more. Seventy, eighty more years. Contrary to another two thousand, or two million. Until the earth finally stopped working, and it laid broken and cracked. No, that wouldn't be so bad, seventy or eighty more years, the rest of her supposed life span. Besides, hell could have always been waiting on the other side, or something to that extent. Something, something always something. But now it was nothing, nothing about her. But something about all the rest of Fell. Her home, her one and true home. Roma woke up.
"Yaz..." Roma stood helplessly at the door of the practice room. She held the neatly bandaged hand on the doorknob, hesitating whether to enter or not. How the white knew Yaz was coming here had nothing to do with dumb luck at all. It had taken her moments to realize that her jewel was amiss down in the black's basement. Who else would have her jewel but Yaz Fell? She had to hurry off and find him because if something bad happened to Yaz she would only blame herself, after all, he was probably half sane doing things that would ultimately screw himself over. It was all her fault too, along with that bitch Reura. But she wasn't sure where to search for him once she got outside the living area and into the courtyard. Until she suddenly remembered Yaz wanting to go to the practice room while she has lost her memory, she'd have to explain that to him too...
When that door appeared up on the wall all she could think about was what he could possibly be doing in there. The sudden taste and sight of smoke sent up a warning flag in her brain and she was worried. But to open the door or not... Roma fought over it for a while and decided to go inside, no matter what was happening. Roma twisted the door handle and slowly walked into the room, unable to see the purple smoke that was apparently being seen in Yaz's mind. But from the set up of things she could conclude that this was some sort of ritual. About Rae no doubt. The Bo staff and the two celestial pendants made the picture clear and simple. He was trying to summon his sister.
Roma stumbled through the smoke to Yaz's spot by the wall and fumbled around with the nylon cord around his neck. She took her jewel but didn't put it back on but instead stuffed it into her pocket for safe keeping. Her eyes wandered to her friend's arm that had been severely cut up to the elbow. 'Yaz, I'm so sorry. This is my entire fault. I should have never left you while you really needed me and my help. But I'm here... I came back to aid you. Stop this nonsense. Please.' Roma held the light brown sleeve of her snow damp peasant top to her mouth and nose, as not to inhale anymore smoke than needed. 'This can't seriously work. Yaz, there are more ways to bring Rae back. You cannot kill yourself just for this.
'I won't let you.'

Well... I seem to have underestimated you.
[ic]
A searing pain ran over his chest, causing Yaz to cry out in pain. His eyes pressed closed as he fell to his knees. Roma was awake, but that was the last thing on his mind. Right now, all he cared about was the violet smoke that was filling the room like a perfume, drawing his sister closer towards this world. He was transfixed by the thought, by the illusion. He didn't mind that he'd scar where her jewel had touched his skin. He didn't care that he was hurting himself for something that wouldn't work. He thought it would work. It just had to work.
Normally a jewel holder of Yaz's rank would have been able to see though the illusions, but this one was so strong and he was weakening quickly. He hadn't realized it when he'd performed this ritual, but he'd offered so much of himself, or his energy, that he'd become delusional into thinking that his own, weak, illusions were real. To him. They existed just as he did. That image of his sister, tightly balled into the fetal position in the smoke with her long black hair hovering around her. That image was just as real to him as he was and he watched it with wide eyes.
A voice brushed at the back of his mind. He felt it, but he couldn't hear it loud enough to acknowledge it. His illusions, his new reality, was far too consuming. Lifting a hand towards his sister's image, he tried to stand, but the heat on his chest held him down. And then the burning sensation was gone. That mortal pain was no longer with him, but a light mist had taken it's place. All around him it felt as if a fog was rolling around him, brushing his skin with cool, invisable, tongues. It was soothing, almost too soothing and unreal, but he reveled in it, sinking farther into his false reality.
Yaz, I'm so sorry. This is my entire fault. I should have never left you while you really needed me and my help. But I'm here... I came back to aid you. Stop this nonsense. Please.
It was as if Rae was speaking to him. She'd left, returning to Tsai's only to be killed. He'd needed her with him even though he'd tried to push her away. He was always pushing those he needed away. It didn't matter how or what he did, but he still shoved them away so that he could maintain a secure distance from everything. And then the invisable lines he'd built to keep them away would gradually start to shrink until he'd pulled them so close that he couldn't push whoever it was away. But that never stopped him from trying. And now she was telling him to stop. Was his vodoo not working? Was it going on for too long?
This can't seriously work. Yaz, there are more ways to bring Rae back. You cannot kill yourself just for this. I won't let you.
Who was talking to him? This couldn't be Rae. Rae was there in the violet smoke. Rae was the one who was trying to apologize, wasn't she? But these second words were not from Rae, that much he knew. Even though both voices had been the same, that second bit was not from his sister. He looked around, trying to find the entruder, but his purple smoke was clouding his vision. He didn't respond.

((Daxx, being the famously thread jumping dude he is, barged into the practice room with the smoke and the whole kabam in this sappy thread. Read and enjoy because I told you to. ^^ ))
((Vah? You underestimated me? O_o Ehhh?))
Had Roma been a mindless saint, the choice would have been simple. Heal the person closest to you. Heal them well, and then go around preaching until you found another person that needed to be healed, which in most cases you would turn up too late anyway because of your prior preaching and lunch breaks. Yet the white wasn't like that, being in the dire position of holding responsible the lives of maybe two people in her hands. If she failed the guilt would come back, and it would be her fault all over again. She couldn't let that happen.
Just before Daxx had run in and pulled her out she was going to inspect Yaz, make sure her stupid jewel didn't harm him, and that he could keep on living with her own energy until the illusions of his mind snapped. But no dice. The girl called Emilie was apparently dying, and Yaz didn't respond to her words. He was completely out of it but Roma didn't want to tear him from his thoughts or feelings, but the smoke, and the cutting of whatever the hell artery was enough for the white to become frantic. Emilie surely didn't need her right this instant. No, because in the time it would take her to heal this girl Yaz could be dangerously enthralled with his illusions, or worse, gone.
"Daxx, I'll heal her once I get Yaz out of that damn room." The fact that he was willing to cry for this girl made it clear that the purple was not only a help to Daxx, but to her own sanity. Because if she could keep Daxx level and even minded, she would have more freedom to roam around without the red constantly trying to destroy her, and vice versa. Yes, so that made Emilie worth saving. That, and 'Sarah' was a human being too, with her own life to live. It would be a total shame if she died so young, without properly seeing the goodness of other people.
'Yaz, it is Roma. The girl that just screwed you over. The girl with the wings and the old lady's hair. The girl that always ran away, leaving you to clean up her messes. The girl that you couldn't rely on, or depend upon because she was too busy trying to depend upon you. Why can't you remember my voice? What are you seeing in this fog of smoke that I cannot see? Rae cannot come back because she is already back, back on earth. I know, I've heard. And if she isn't back right now she will be soon. So please, don't do this, not for my sake, but for your own. It is not your time to die.'
Roma stood in front of him, bending down and gripping both of his arms. She lifted him up, and did what she could to lean his weak body against her own. It wouldn't be worth spending her own energy teleporting him outside of this room just so she couldn't heal the other that needed her just as badly. She knew that he would try to struggle, but the white was beyond messing around with that. She lugged the black out of the room and set him down on the gray tiled floor. "Daxx, you are red aren't you? Close that door and stuff rags in the cracks so no more smoke can get out." She looked at the two, and pondered how much energy she would have to use in order to keep them both alive.
"Damn..." Roma muttered to herself, deciding at the moment that Emilie was in more critical condition. "Daxx, what the hell is wrong with this girl?" She asked, putting her own energies into Emilie and yet finding no response from the girl. "I've never heard about this type of thing in my life..."

"I don't know Roma, that's the problem." he said sadly. "All I heard her say was that she was dying, but, she can't. I don't want her to. She's the only person in this whole place that I really care about, apart from... well, that's not important. But..." He thought on what he'd said, and remembered other words that were spoken, and he quoted them as such.
"This, this is what Sarah's mother died from. It was an unknown sickness that was said to be hereditary. You, you first start to get sleepy all of a sudden. Then you break out into bursts of one particular emotion, causing mental damage... After that this starts to happen along with more periods of sleep that can last from seconds to hours... Eventually you wake up fine... Or you never wake..." (Taken from thread in Lounge. Go check if you don't believe me.)
"Apparently, Emilie's not really Emilie. From the sound of that, it seems to be that her real name is Sarah. But, really, if any of this is any help to you at all, use it. If you have anything else, I'd be more than happy to oblige."

Yaz felt dizzy. He couldn't see the smoke in the room, he just saw a violet fog. Maybe it was a good thing that he couldn't see himself suffocating, but he could feel his eyes start to not only burn from the real smoke, but become droopy from exhaustion. He fell into Roma's arms, not really realizing who it was, but all the same he welcomed the embrace.
Yaz, it is Roma.
Yaz lifted his head. What was Roma doing invading his thoughts? She was supposed to be out of it for a few months... or years... He hadn't thought that she would come back. He'd thought that she was done for. Why else would he have hid her away? And then he remembered the burning sensation on his chest. She must have waken up back then and he hadn't even realized it... Gosh he felt like an idiot, but he was so close to bringing Rae back. Just a few more minutes and he'd have her.
Rae cannot come back because she is already back, back on earth. I know, I've heard.
No. Rae couldn't return to earth. She had to be in Fell. Yaz was in Fell. She had to be back with him. Her image flickered in the violet smoke as his eyes fluttered to a close. He was losing himself and Rae was nearly gone. He'd lost her once. Now he'd be losing her again. He didn't want to lose her again. He couldn't.
It is not your time to die.
Yaz wasn't going to die. He was just going to sit down and sleep while waiting for Rae to show up. He let himself fall into Roma's arms, still unable to see her though his illusions. She dragged him outside of the door, but his eyes remained closed as the black drained out of his hair. The other illusions placed upon himself faded slowly as he drifted out of consiousness.

She was about to comment on Daxx's offer when Emilie started to breathe again, opening her eyes yellow green open just the slightest bit. "Are you okay Honey?" Roma cooed, brushing back the purple dusk's hair away from her face before pressing her ear against the girl's chest. She could make out a strong pulse, and her breathing seemed to be normal now. 'Thank you god.' The white thought, coming back up to look at the red's friend from above. "Yes, I'm okay..." Sarah replied, if not a bit stronger than expected. Yet Roma felt weak, she had put a lot of her energies into that girl, and she already started to feel drained. Making a person with an abnormal sickness come back to full force could put a punch in your own energy supplies and that would have been okay if Emilie was the only one. But now the black was completely out, and needed her help. "Daxx, please, secure the door. I don't want Yaz to inhale anymore smoke."
Roma pushed back Yaz's yellow locks of hair, feeling his brow for any kind of fever. She looked back up at Daxx only to see that the purple had embraced him, crying her own silent tears of thanks. 'You are welcome lost lamb of Fell.' The white inserted that message in Emilie's head only without effort, and the girl thought out a thank you in return. Nodding ever so slightly, Roma ripped open the black's shirt, and pushed both hands on his chest, willing the smoke to filter out of his lungs and for the burn wound to fade away. Images of lighter breathing and health took over her mind as she thought of those things alone, concentrating on the health of her patient. It was no longer clear whom she was healing as her vision blurred, and all presences of Yaz's aura grew weaker by the second. The ex-elemental knew she was pushing herself too hard, that she could have serious health issues after this, but she didn't care. All that mattered is that no one died, that everyone in Fell was okay and would stay okay.
It would be Roma's fault if someone died, because she was the only one that could heal to that degree, who could pull a person back from death and keep them alive. 'Rae loves you, I know she does... But she cannot come to Fell. There is no sun in Fell, no light for her to live by. You love this place, because it is void of the sun disc, so wouldn't her feelings be the opposite...? Would she actually like being here, if her sun was gone, if everyone here was miserable? I-I killed myself that way... I pushed myself to such an extreme, that I was fighting against myself. I wanted the sun... I wanted to see my family, even though they hate me, and curse my name. But the abyss, it tricked me... After hours of climbing the dreadful steps. An illusion was set up, and I thought I was home... But I didn't trust my family's action, and figured out that I was being deceived. I stabbed the image of my first love, not one hundred percent sure if he was real. I thought, that he was dead, and I stabbed what could have been human flesh.
'I was hysterical. I tried to kill myself, but instead took away all of my memories. That was not your fault, please... Do not live with that guilt. You didn't kill Rae either; nothing is your fault. Please... It is all my fault, because Trina is a reincarnation of me. The one we know is no longer existing if the future, but is simply just another family member of mine who has no big goal of coming to the past to change our lives, who is free of my curse... She gave up her life for my own, so I take full responsibility for the things that she did...' No, what was she saying? Telling him these things that shouldn't concern him, the last pieces of the puzzle she had meant to keep to the grave. Roma's arms buckled, and she found herself laying on top of Yaz with little magic left in her body. "I only have enough energy to fix Yaz's arm... If Sarah goes under I'm sorry." The white reached over, wrapping her fingers around the blood wound and forcing it to close completely, and stay close. Yet she wasn't sure if it worked... All she knew is that there was nothing left in her except just enough attention to keep active mind while her body slept.

((*coughs loudly*))
Emilie could feel her body being lifted, and that she was being lugged away from the lounge. The only place where she could really and truly connect back to her past life of a nice home and family after being orphaned and lost to the world. Sarah, the name that rung true on her ears, and made the purple feel a sense of hope inside, hope of her life that once was. But the light was fading slowly away and escaping her view as the whole world spun under her feet. Emilie knew she was in deep water right now but could not escape the darkness that had started to consume her soul. Sarah just wished for an angel, or a guide through the terrors of her imagination, a person like Diana who had always watched after her, and made sure she was well. Or maybe, maybe a person like Daxx now that her old friend could no longer reach her.
"Are you okay Honey?" The voice broke through to her, and Emilie started to realize that energy was flowing through her veins, that all that she had lost was now coming back to her in a flurry. Yes, the purple dusk was well, but she had to confirm it was true. With small effort the girl said, "Yes, I'm okay..." Now that her vision had focused she instantly saw Roma and Daxx looking over her until the white turned away to tend to someone else whom needed her aid. Emilie's first reaction was to get up and walk away from it all, sulk while she attempted to reconstruct the emotional walls she'd piled sky high around her. But then she saw her mentor, who had done so much to make sure she was still alive at this very moment, who at least deserved a thanks for his selfless act.
The purple dusk sat up and hugged her mentor for a brief second before letting go and leaning against the wall nearest the practice room door. That wasn't all that she could do, but at the time being it was all that she was willing to do because there were more dire things happening around her. Later Emilie would help Daxx search for that last golden item so part of his journey through the abyss would be completed and fulfilled. But this wasn't time for problem solving and treasure hunting, no, because Roma was in need of some small assistance, and she would make sure she got it at any and all costs. "Daxx, do as she says, close and secure the doors so that smoke cannot leak through the cracks. It is basic fire safety, and if I were a few levels higher I would assist you but no, I cannot."
Roma had already collapsed, but Sarah could tell that she was only skimming the top of being unconscious and was merely resting her body to regain the energy she had lost. She stood up and unwrapped Roma's fingers from Yaz's arm and carefully dragged her off of the black jeweled prince. Then she rather hastily buttoned up the boy's shirt to the best of her ability and pulled him away from the door that was emitting lethal smoke at the time. Now that this was taken care of She sat back down by the wall and stared out into space, while her mentor did whatever he pleased. Emilie was trying to think to the best of her ability but was doing it rather poorly. She felt as though someone had hit her hardly in the head, or that her brain had suddenly be turned into a jello substance. Blech. Sarah hated jello.

((... 21 days is my limit. Sorry.))
Roma blinked a few times, adjusting to her surroundings and registering just exactly where she was. Fell, that was right, so this wasn't all some weird dream that had spanned over almost a year now. She was really here laying on the floor of Fell's second story in a smoke covered hallway with two weak people and a man that was too lost in his own petty thoughts to do even the simplest tasks. She sat up instantly, and then stood up all the way. The white looked down at Yaz who still had the lights knocked out of him. Great. Without realizing what she was doing Roma started to walk away, down the steps that would lead her into the main hall and then out the door into the snowy wasteland. Yaz would wake up eventually, and when he did he could come and find her, but right now she needed to make a potion. And speaking of potions... Roma thought about for a few seconds and then started to walk down the steps again. She had fed Yaz a bit of one of her older potions, a little thing that was meant to calm nerves and let someone think rationally. That's what Yaz needed at the moment too, nice calm thoughts, let him cool off for an hour or two because that's what he was best at, not accepting help when it was offered to him. Roma scoffed. Yeah, he was a little too good at that.
